Key vocabulary: block, stare, disbelief, above, burn, burning, alive, airport, till, west... arrive at, in line with,even though, wake up, go off, take off...2. Key sentences:a. I was about to go up when I decided to get a coffee first.b. Before I could join the others outside to see what was going on, the first plane had already hit my office building.c. By the time I got to the airport, my plane to New Zealand had already taken off. 3.Structures: a. be about to do b. was/were doingc. What bad luck!教学难点:Learn to understand 3a. 教学过程(表格描述)教学环节主要教学活动设置意图 Step 1Lead-in (PPT 3)Have a free talk about the unexpected things which happened in your life. A: The moment I arrived at the library, I found I had left my keys at home. B: I’m sorry to hear that.自由谈论生活中发生的意想不到的事情,引出今天3a的话题。Step 2Pre-reading(PPT 4-10) Fast reading. Work on 3a. Read the passage and answer the questions. Which two events does the writer mention? How did the writer end up missing both event? 2. Read 3a, find the answers and read the sentences. 通读全文,回答问题并阅读答案。 Step 3While-reading(PPT 11-17) Careful reading. Read the first paragraph and answer the questions.Read the second paragraph and put the sentences in the correct order. Read the correct order. 4.Read the passage again and complete the table.5.Retell the two unexpected things. 本部分是课文细读部分。每读完一部分都要完成相应的任务,以检测对文章细节的理解。通过问题设计,让学生带着问题阅读,提高他们的英语阅读能力以及解决问题的能力。Step 4Post- reading(PPT 18-21) Work on 3b. Find words from the passage with opposite meanings to the words below. Then write a sentence with each word. 2. Read the words and write them down.3. Make up sentences with the opposite words. 4.Work on 3c. Retell one of the events to your partner. Use these words an phrases to help you.
