A 23-year-ld British wman has invented a prduct she hpes will ne day replace single-use plastic.

MarinaTex is edible, t put it in anther way, it can be tasted withut danger. Hughes says it is als strng and stable. But unlike plastic, MarinaTex bidegrades (生物降解)in fur t six weeks under nrmal cnditins and des nt pllute the sil. The inventr said she is cncerned abut the grwing amunts f plastics in cean waters. She nted ne reprt that there wuld be mre plastic than fish in the wrld's ceans by the year 2050. The United Natins estimates that 100 millin tns f plastic waste has already been left in the ceans. Hughes als was investigating ways t reduce the amunt f waste frm the fishing industry. The industry prduces an estimated 50 millin tns f waste wrldwide each year, UN fficials say.
Examining fish parts left ver frm prcessing helped t give her the idea fr a material that was useful and did n harm t the envirnment. “Why d we need t have hundreds f man-made plymers (聚合体)when nature has s many already available?" she asked. After mnths f testing, Hughes prduced a strng, flexible sheet that frms at temperatures belw 100 degrees Celsius. Inventr James Dysn said that MarinaTex is “strnger, safer and much mre sustainable (可持续的)”than plastic. It is als easier t break dwn. Hughes will receive abut $ 41,000 prize mney as the first place winner f the James Dysn Award. She plans t use the mney t further develp the prduct and ways t mass prduce it. "Further research and develpment will ensure that MarinaTex evlves further, and becmes part f a glbal answer t the abundance f single use plastic waste," Dysn said.

I used t believe that lve meant putting everyne else and their needs first, befre my wn. While I d think there is sme truth t that, in the sense that being a giving persn is ne f the ultimate acts f being a lving persn, I came t realize that I must give t and lve myself first and fremst.
Here's why. When yu put everyne and everything else abve yu, yu are n lnger valuing yurself and yur needs. And when yu are nt meeting yur needs, and yu dn't take care f yurself (emtinally, physically, mentally, spiritually), yu can't be the best versin f yurself t the special peple in yur life. S in fact, yu dn't lve them at yur full ptential!
Here are sme things t cnsider. Are yu physically taking care f yurself? D yu nurish yurself with the right fds? D yu get enugh sleep and exercise? Are yu at a healthy weight, and n tp f yur check-ups? If nt, I bet yur energy is lw, yu're tired and stressed, and yur cnfidence isn't the highest (because yu prbably dn't feel yur best). Nw think abut hw much mre yu culd give t thers when yu aren't exhausted, yu're happy with what yu see in the mirrr, and yu aren't n edge with stress.
Are yu emtinally and mentally healthy? As humans, we're s cmplex and having ups and dwns is nrmal. But in general, assess where yu stand emtinally. If it's in a healthy place and yu can manage yur emtins in a healthy way - great! But if yu self-sthe(自我安慰)in destructive ways and have a negative attitude and energy abut yu, realize that it's nt just affecting yu, but thers t. When yu aren't an emtinally and mentally healthy persn, that energy purs int everything yu d, and everyne yu're arund will feel the effects, t.
Hw's yur spirituality? In this sense, spirituality is abut having an ultimate purpse and being in tune with yur true self. D yu wake up every day excited fr what yur life is abut, and have gratitude fr all the abundance yu already have? If nt, yu may nt be listening and living t what yur heart truly desires. Living this way lng term, may affect the essence(本质)f yur inner being and, in turn, may nt allw yu t shw up yur very best fr the wrld.
Be kind t yurself. It can be difficult t put yur health and well-being first when life is demanding between yur career, family, friendships, relatinships, and s n. If yu can think f any ways t imprve yur well-being and lve yurself mre, start tday! Take a baby step twards this. Perhaps try getting an hur mre f sleep. Mve yur bdy in a way that feels gd. Take time fr yurself t be with yur thughts and withut distractins and feel that peace.

D.physical health is mre imprtant than mental health
10.Keeping spiritually healthy means .
A.dissatisfactin with what yu haveB.waking up in time every day
C.shwing up yur best fr the wrldD.agreeing with yur true self
11.Which f the fllwing shws the right structure f the passage?
A.B.

Like mst peple, yu have prbably lst cunt f the number f perfect-lking shes yu have thrwn away simply because the rubber sles (橡胶鞋底) are brken. In additin t the expense, it is als harmful t ur envirnment. Nw, thanks t a revlutinary self-healing 3-D printed rubber material, brken she sles may be a thing f the past.
The magical plymer (聚合物) is develped by the researchers at the University f Suthern Califrnia’s (USC) and the University f Cnnecticut (UCnn) . The team, led by USC Assistant Prfessr Qiming Wang, created it thrugh a prcess called phtplymerizatin, which uses light t slidify the liquid used t create 3-D printed plastic. The researchers fund that adding the right amunt f xidant (氧化剂) t the liquid allwed the 3-D plymer t heal (愈合) withut slwing dwn the hardening prcess.
“When we gradually increase the xidant, the self - healing behavir becmes strnger, but the phtplymerizatin behavir becmes weaker,” explained Wang. “There is cmpetitin between these tw behavirs.”
The team, wh published the findings in the jurnal NPG Asia Materials n February 1st,2019, state that the repair time can be reduced by increasing the rm temperature. “If yu just put a brken she n a bench at rm temperature, the rubber will heal itself in six t eight hurs,” Wang said. “If yu apply heat at maybe 60℃, that expedites the healing prcess t abut tw hurs.”
Given the material s huge ptential, it is nt surprising t hear that Wang and his team have been apprached by several she-making cmpanies eager t be the first t use the technlgy, which is still in the early stages. Once perfected, the scientists als hpe t apply the technique t hard plastics that can be used t create self-healing tys, electrnics, vehicle parts, and, if Wang has his way, even tires.
12.Hw d the researchers make 3-D printed plastic self- heal?
A.By changing the amunt f light used.
B.By raising the temperature at which it is used.
C.By increasing the hardening speed f the liquid.
D.By adding the prper amunt f xidant t the liquid.
13.What can be inferred frm the text?
A.The creatin f 3-D printed plastic desn’t need light.
B.The surrunding temperature determines the speed f healing.
C.Many she making cmpanies gt the right t use the technlgy.
D.Thrwing away brken she sles has been a thing f the past.
14.What des the underlined wrd “expedites” mean?
A.Strengthens.B.Delays.C.Accelerates.D.Wrsens.
15.Which f the fllwing can be the best title f the text?
A.Self - healing shes may be in ur future.
B.3-D printing technlgy makes a difference.
C.Self - healing technlgy will serve many fields.
