    Here's The Piano Lesson,one of Henri Matisse's most famous paintings.The boy in the picture is the painter's son, Pierre. In the picture, Pierre looks quite serious.Why? Well, look at the yellow candle on the red piano. It's almost burned down.So maybe Pierre has already practiced for hours. And Matisse uses a lot of gray, not a very fun color, right? It

shows how the poor kid feels,don't you think?

On the top right comer, you can see a woman sitting straight on a seat. Is she Pierre's piano teacher? Or his mother? Well, if you're a Matisse fan, you'll know this is in fact another painting by him,Woman on a High Stool. Interesting, right?

    Matisse likes to do that a lot. In fact there's another work by Matisse in the picture.

    Matisse painted this picture in 1916. Pierre was already 16 then, but the artist painted his son much younger than he really was. Pierre had gone away to be a French soldier, and Matisse didn't know whether he would come back. Maybe this is a worried father's way to remember the good old days.

    16-year-old Bridget Peters writes about her hobby, making soup sculptures. I have an unusual hobby you probably only use it to wash your face or hands, but I make small sculptures out of soap. I'm really good at it these days, having read about it in many different books, and I've even got several friends interested in doing it. I didn't even know people made sculptures from soap until I found a short online film about it by accident and thought it was something I'd like to try.

    It's very popular in Thailand.They often make sculptures of flowers there so I decided to try that. I surprised myself with how good my first sculpture was. I felt more confident about trying other things after my family told me how good it looked. It took quite a long time, and I didn't really have the right tools, but I enjoyed making it.

    After lots of practice, I had my first exhibition (展览) when I was fifteen. It went really well, even though the place where it was held was rather small. I made some nice posters with photos of my works on, and put them up wherever I could. So although very few people had heard of soap sculpture, they could see exactly what it was.The posters worked, because lots of people came.

    Lots of people ask me why I don't try making sculptures using stone or metal. It's never really attracted(吸引) me, though. I prefer learning by doing instead of going to classes. sold love to teach people how to create these kinds of things. Everything I do is small, because soap is hard to work with. Whatever happens, I'm sure I'll love my hobby for years to come.
