    Comic strip & Welcome to the unit

    设计说明

    首先,通过Free talk导入本单元文章主题——环保。通过图片展示引导学生学习本课有关环保的单词,通过单词的学习和举例让学生知道怎样过绿色生活。然后,进入Part A的学习,并通过图片让学生进一步了解环保的其他方式。再次,进入Part B的学习;先通过听回答问题,再模仿Part B进行编对话。最后,利用图片教Comic strip的单词,并由听力回答问题入手,学习Comic strip内容,然后通过阅读完成短文来进一步理解其内容。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    掌握词汇dig, serious, wise, turn off

    2.能力目标

    (1)能准确运用有关保护环境的表达;

    (2)能就环保的话题展开讨论。

    3.情感目标

    培养学生保护环境的意识。

    重点难点

    1.重点:了解一般将来时的被动语态。

    2.难点:能就环保的话题展开讨论。

    教学准备

    PPT 课件;B部分的听力录音Comic strip部分的听力录音。

    授课时数

    1课时

    教学过程

    Step 1 Lead-in

    Have a free talk.

    Ask students two questions:

    (1)What did the world use to be?

     (It used to be a green world.)

    (2)What is the world like now ?

     (There is much air pollution and waste.)

    T: April 22nd is Earth Day. How do we protect our earth and make a green world?

    Get the class to discuss the questions.

    Step 2 Presentation

    1. Show some pictures.

    Present some words, phrases for them to learn how to live a green life.

    (1)We can plant more trees.

    (2)We can reduce air pollution by riding bicycles.    

    (3)We can save energy by turning off the lights when we leave a room.

    (4)We can protect the environment by recycling waste.

    (5)We can save water by taking shorter showers.

    (6) It’s wise for people to take public transport.

    2. Lead students to read the new words and phrases three times or more.

      reduce  vt. & vi. 减少,降低

      turn off 关上(开关)

      recycle  vt. 回收利用,循环利用

      wise  adj. 明智的,充满智慧的

    Step 3 Match and say

    1. Ask students to finish the Part A on Page 107.

    Answers1 d  2 c  3 a  4 b

    2. Ask students to look the following pictures and say something about how to live a green life.

    Model:

    A: How can we live a green life?

    B: We can_________ by __________.

    Step 4 Listen and practice (Part B)

    1. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue on Page 107 and answer the following questions.

    (1) How did Kitty go to school in the past?

    (2) How does Kitty go to school now?

    (3) What does Millie think people should do to live a green life?

    (4) What does Daniel think we can do to live a green life?

    (5) What does Sandy think we should do to live a green life?

    Answers: (1) Her father used to drive her to school.

    (2) She takes the underground now.

    (3) She thinks it’s wise for people to choose public transport and ride bicycles.

    (4) He thinks we can take shorter showers to save water.

    (5) She thinks we should remember to turn off the lights when we leave a room.

    2. Ask students to act out the dialogue on Page 107.

    3. Ask students to make a dialogue.

    A: What should we do to live a green life?

    B: …used to…, but now…

    A: I agree. It’s wise for …

    B: I think …

    A: Yes…

    Step 5 Discussion

    Ask students to have a discussion.

    We should try our best to protect the environment. What else can we do?

    (1) We can reuse the water to flush the toilet.

    (2) We can turn off the tap when washing hands with soap.

    (3) We can turn off the tap tightly.

    (4) Don’t leave the tap on when brushing teeth.

    (5)We can ride a bike instead of driving a car.

    (6)We can grow more plants.

    Step 6 Presentation

    1. Teach the new words by using the pictures.

              

    dig v.              serious adj.          breadfruit tree

    挖(洞,沟等)       认真的,严肃的         面包果树

    2. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue on Page 106 and answer the following questions.

    (1)What is Hobo going to do?

    (2)Will more trees be planted this year? Why?

    (3)What does Eddie like doing?

    (4)What will Eddie plant?

    Answers: (1) He is going to plant trees.

    (2) Yes. Trees are good for us.

    (3) He likes digging in the garden.

    (4) He will plant breadfruit trees.

    3. Ask the students to read and finish the following exercises.

    Spring is coming. Eddie asks Hobo what he is going to do. Hobo says he is going to plant ________. Eddie asks if more trees will be ________ this year. Hobo says yes, because trees are ________ for everybody. Eddie wants to go with Hobo. He says he likes ________ in the garden. Oh, is he ________? Everyone knows Eddie used to be ________. Has Eddie changed? Of course not. What he really wants is ________ breadfruit trees so that he can eat lots of breadfruit. Eddie really enjoys ________!  

    Answers: trees, planted, good, digging, serious, lazy, planting, eating

    Step 7 Language points

    Lead students to learn some language points.

    1. Will more trees be planted this year?  今年更多的树将会被种植吗?

      句中will be planted 意思是“将会被种植”,是一般将来时的被动语态。

      The panda will be sent to the zoo tomorrow.

      这只大熊猫明天将被送到动物园。

    2. We can protect the environment by recycling waste.

    我们可以通过回收利用废品来保护环境。

    by doing sth意为“通过做某事”

      We can save energy by turning off the lights.

      我们可以通过关灯来节约能源。

    【拓展】by 用作介词,还表示“被”,后接人,表示动作的执行者,用于被动语态。

    The operations are done by volunteer doctors.这台手术由志愿者医生来做。

    3. My dad used to drive me to school...                                                             

    我爸爸过去常常开车送我去学校……

      used to do sth 意为“过去常常做某事”,其后接动词原形。

      They used to spend money on clothes.

      他们过去常常把钱花在衣服上。

    4. Its wise for people to choose public transport or ride bicycles.                                                           

    对人们来说选择公共交通或骑自行车是明智的。

       It is + adj. + for sb to do sth”意为“对某人来说做某事是……”。常用于此句型的形容词有important, difficult, dangerous, necessary, useful, possible等说明事物特征的词。此句型可以转换成“To do sth is + adj.

    It is very important for students to learn English well.

      对学生们来说学好英语是很重要的。

    【拓展】“It is + adj. + of sb to do sth”意为“做某事某人是……的”,常用于此句型的形容词有good, kind, nice, clever, wise, wrong, bad 等,用来对人的性格、品质等进行说明。

      Its very kind of you to say so! 你这样说真是太好了!

    Step 8 Homework

    1. Recite Comic strip.

    2. Search on the Internet to learn more about how to live a green life.
