Technology is shaping many different areas of the world. One area that has been greatly changed by the advances of technology itself is the stock (股票) market. There are several ways how technology has changed and shaped the present state of the market, and also the future direction.
Apps like RobinHood Trading has made it easier than ever to access stock market trading. Driven by technology they are able to operate with less cost, seeing a significant reduction in fees. These fees often make casual traders be turned off the idea of the stock market, as low amounts they want to invest (投资) will not be of worthwhile after paying varieties of fees to most companies. This has seen a new type of trader, with a lower amount of wealth, be able to effectively make use of the market.
The speed of buying and selling is now faster than ever. Traditionally trades were done by shouting from one human to another, then through telephones and now the internet. With faster transactions, more trades are occurring, and when market changes are occurring, investors can react quicker than ever. Quicker reaction to new information will mean that the market is constantly changing faster than ever.
Due to the rise of the Internet, information allowing people to make an informed decision is easier than ever to get. Instead of relying on other people’s recommendations and analysis, it is extremely easy to access company reports and see for yourself whether or not it would be a good investment. The information is now more in-depth as well, as technology is able to analyse company data in a more detailed and scientific way to allow you to form a more educated opinion. Many companies provide real time data on the stock markets, allowing you to see completely up-to-date information and see the start of any potential trends allowing you to take advantage of the changing market.
4. According to the text, the stock market has been changed in the following aspects except ______.
A. better investment B. faster transactions
C. more in-depth information D. easier access to trading
5. How does paragraph 3 develop?
A. By referring to a study. B. By telling stories.
C. By making comparisons. D. By giving examples.
6. What does the text mainly talk about?

B. What future changes will be caused by technology.
C. How modern applications have shaped stock market.
D. How technology has influenced the present stock market.

When a global pandemic affects people’s activities, we have fewer chances to experience nature. So the hope is that an access-for-all and interactive project can reconnect us to nature.
BBC’s Soundscapes for Wellbeing is designed to offer people a way to enter the natural world at home. Listeners have been given access to a huge sound effects digital archive (档案) — 33,000 sounds with 17,000 new nature sounds to download — and use of an online mixer tool to make and share their own soundscapes.
The BBC’s Natural History Unit is the source for nature sounds in the effects archive. One of its secrets is that most videos for television are shot without sound and then carefully recorded audio is added to them. Everything from bird-of-paradise calls and giraffes feeding on acacia trees to wind blowing across the Sahara desert has been captured (捕捉) in sound recordings.
Another part of the project is the Virtual Nature Experiment, which pairs award-winning sound recordist Chris Watson and composer Nainita Desai with the University of Exeter to explore emotional responses to digital nature content. Audiences take part in a 10-minute-experiment, which includes watching video and answering a series of questions to help scientists discover how best to digitally bring the benefits of nature to people indoors.
People living in cities often struggle to access green space and lockdown measures across the world make that harder. Studies show the risks related with not being able to use outdoor spaces include stress, anxiety and other mental disorders, but also physical conditions like obesity and heart disease.
When people have trees and other vegetation near their homes, they report a greater sense of wellbeing and more satisfaction with where they live, according to the American Public Health Association. Green spaces also provide benefits such as better air quality, lowered flood risk, habitat for wildlife and plants, and community spaces where people can meet and exercise.
7. What’s the purpose of BBC’S Soundscapes for Wellbeing?
A. To shoot videos for television.
B. To offer digital nature sound effects.
C. To reconnect people indoors to nature.
D. To help people make their own sounds.
8. What does the underlined word “that” refer to in paragraph 5?
A. Living in the city. B. Outdoor exercise. C. Access to nature. D. Scientific study.
9. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. A Project to Explore Nature B. Capturing Sounds from Nature
C. People’s Life during Lockdowns D. Getting Benefits from Digital Nature
10. Where is the text probably from?
A. A document. B. A magazine. C. A brochure. D. A textbook.
【答案】7. C 8. C 9. D 10. B

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Having to deal with a rejection can be extremely difficult. But something that many people find even more difficult is to be the one who has to reject. Sometimes we accept out of politeness, in other cases because we simply don’t know in what possible way to say no. ____11____ So why not learn how to politely decline a request and save a lot of time and nerves? It’s time to stop being everybody’s darling!
Saying “no” in a proper way is quite difficult. ____12____ So, whenever a person makes a demand on us, we will have to decide either to accept or reject it based on whether we like it, feel comfortable with it or not. If you like it you accept it. ____13____
But due to the fact that we are no robots, it is not easy for us to make a decision based on whether we just like something or not. ____14____ In many cases, social factors affect our willingness to say “no”, whenever we fear to hurt the other person’s feelings.
Anytime you say “yes” when you know that you should have said “no”, no matter whether you rationalize (使合理化) it as a sign of friendship or kindness, in the end, it doesn’t change the fact that you have agreed to do something you absolutely do not want to do. That’s just because you don’t want to give others a reason to think negatively of you or believe that they will quit the friendship when you’re not doing everything they demand. ____15____ And no true friend will quit the friendship with you, just because you aren’t willing to do a favor in a given situation.
A. If you don’t like it you just say “no” and reject it.
B You can finally live the life the way you want it to.
C. As a result, we always end up with amounts of extra work.
D. It might help to see the situation just as emotionless as a robot.
E. Would you clearly express that you will not be able to do the extra work?
F. There will always be other factors that highly influence our decision-making process.
G. But actually a real friend will try to get his life straight without taking advantage of you.
【答案】11. C 12. D 13. A 14. F 15. G
【解析】
【导语】本文是说明文。文章主要介绍了面对拒绝是非常困难的。但是很多人发现更困难的是做一个不得不拒绝的人。
【11题详解】
通过上文“Sometimes we accept out of politeness, in other cases because we simply don’t know in what possible way to say no.(有时我们出于礼貌而接受,在另一些情况下,因为我们根本不知道用什么可能的方式说不)”可推知,有时我们不得被动接受一些额外的工作,不知道以何种方式拒绝,C项“As a result, we always end up with amounts of extra work.(结果,我们总是以大量的额外工作结束)”承接上文,介绍了上文情况可能会出现的结果,且C项中的we和上文的we相呼应,符合文意。故选C。
【12题详解】
上文“Saying “no” in a proper way is quite difficult.(以正确的方式说“不”是相当困难的)”可知以正确的方式说“不”很难。再根据第三段首句“But due to the fact that we are no robots”,根据逻辑关系,可知第三段中肯定会解释假设我们是机器人的情况。而D项“It might help to see the situation just as emotionless as a robot.(把这种情况看成一个没有感情的机器人也许会有所帮助)”起到了承上启下的作用。故选D。
【13题详解】
上文“So, whenever a person makes a demand on us, we will have to decide either to accept or reject it based on whether we like it, feel comfortable with it or not. If you like it you accept it.(所以,当一个人对我们提出要求时,我们必须根据我们是否喜欢它,是否感到舒服来决定是接受还是拒绝它。如果你喜欢它,你就接受它)”可知,下文紧接着应该提到如果你不喜欢它的情况该如何处理。而A项“If you don’t like it you just say “no” and reject it.(如果你不喜欢它,你就说“不”,拒绝它)”刚好与上文相顺承。故选A。
【14题详解】
根据下文“ In many cases, social factors affect our willingness to say “no”, whenever we fear to hurt the other person’s feelings.(在很多情况下,当我们害怕伤害他人的感情时,社会因素会影响我们说“不”的意愿)”可推知,前文应提到其他的因素,而F项“There will always be other factors that highly influence our decision-making process.(总会有其他因素高度影响我们的决策过程)”提到了其他的因素,且F项的“factors”与下文一致。故选F。
【15题详解】
根据上文“ That’s just because you don’t want to give others a reason to think negatively of you or believe that they will quit the friendship when you’re not doing everything they demand.(那只是因为你不想给别人一个理由,让他们对你持负面看法,或者认为当你没有按他们的要求去做时,他们会放弃友谊)”以及下文“And no true friend will quit the friendship with you, just because you aren’t willing to do a favor in a given situation.(没有真正的朋友会因为你不愿意在特定的情况下帮你的忙而和你断绝友谊)”可推知,上文指出虚假的朋友会轻易放弃友谊,下文指出真正的朋友不会轻易放弃友谊,不会利用朋友。G项“But actually a real friend will try to get his life straight without taking advantage of you.(但真正的朋友会在不利用你的情况下让自己的生活变得正常)”表转折,承上启下,符合文意。故选G。
