(2021·江苏·南通)On a Sunday morning, I was driving down a road and saw something I couldn’t believe. A little girl, less thantwo, was pushing her stroller (婴儿车) across the road. It was Sunday morning and traffic was not heavy.
I stopped my car at once and ran toward her. This little girl knew enough to run from a stranger. I tried tocatch her in order that I could get her out of the road.
Suddenly her father came running down a hill across the road from where I had parked my car. He ran right to her and caught her up, saying “bad girl” to her. I picked up the stroller and gave it to him. The father grabbed the stroller and walked toward where he came from without a word.
I went back and sat in my car for a few minutes with my son. My hands were shaking and tears were about to run out of my eyes. “Do you feel cold, Mom?” asked my son. I just shook my head.
After this happened, I thought about how thankful I am. Even though the father didn’t say thank you, I feel that I did something good. Doing something for someone else is pleasing, even when it’s only a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
I didn’t really “save” her, but I feel like it was important that I happened to be there. It is sad that I was the only one who stopped. It really made me a little disappointed that no one else stopped to help.

36.Why were the author’s hands shaking?
A.Because she failed to be understood by the girl’s father.
B.Because she was too excited to keep calm.
C.Because the weather was very cold at that time.
D.Because she was not feeling well.
37.The author thought that her help was _____.
    A.not welcome B.worth praising C.really necessary D.not useful

Pets are popular. They’re good listeners, they encourage us to exercise, and they’re always on our side when we argue with others. They can bring people comfort and pleasure.
But it is important to keep in mind that pets can carry diseases that can make you sick. Washing your hands often — especially after you touch, feed, or clean up a pet — is the best way to keep yourself healthy and prevent the spread of disease. Be sure to clean your fingernails carefully every time you wash.
You also can protect your health by wearing gloves while cleaning animal cages or cat litter boxes. Avoid washing your pet in the bathtub(浴缸), but if you do, always disinfect(消毒) the tub immediately afterward.
Be sure to bring your pet to the hospital for examinations every two weeks or month and whenever your pet is sick or injured.
You can do a few other things to keep yourself and your pet healthy. Only give your pet food that has been planned ahead for them. It’s not a good idea to share your food with your pet. Human food (like chocolate) can make animals sick. Never feed your pet raw(生的) meat because it can carry germs(细菌) that cause serious illness.
And funny as it can be to see your dog or cat drinking from the toilet, don’t let pets do this. It’s bad for your pet’s health! Give them clean, fresh water to drink at all times.
Never give milk to cats. The only milk an animal should drink is from its mother. Cow’s milk is not for pets, especially for cats, as it makes them sick.
Finally, some animals aren’t pets. Don’t take in a wild or abandoned(被抛弃的) animal as a pet because it may have diseases that could make you or your family sick. Instead, turn to an animal rescue group that is trained in helping sick or abandoned animals.

Scientists have tried to come up with biological explanations for the difference between boys and girls.
However, none were believable enough to explain the general picture. As one scientist points out,“There are slight genetic(遗传的) differences between the sexes at birth which may affect the subjects boys and girls choose. But the difficulty is that by the time children reach school age, there are so many other effects that it is almost impossible to tell whether girls are worse at science and maths, or whether they’ve been brought up to think of these subjects as boys “territory”.
Statistics(统计数据)show that in mathematics, at least, girls are equal to boys. A recent report suggests that girls only stop studying mathematics because of social attitudes. One of the reports’ authors says,“While it is socially unacceptable for people not to be able to read and write, it is still acceptable for women to say that they are ‘hopeless’ at maths. Our research shows that, although girls get marks which are as good as the boys, they have not been encouraged to do so.”
The explanation for the difference, which is very clear during the teenage years, goes as far back as early childhood experiences. From their first days in nursery school, girls are not encouraged to work on their own or to complete tasks, although boys are. For example, boys not girls, are often asked to “help” with repair work. This encouragement leads to a way of learning how to solve problems later on in life. Evidence(证据)shows that exceptional(例外的) mathematicians and scientists did not have teachers who supplied answers; they had to find out for themselves.
A further report on maths teaching shows that teachers seem to give more attention to boys than to girls.
Most teachers who took part in the study admitted that they expect their “male” students to do better at mathematics and science subjects than their female students. All of this tends to encourage boys to work harder in these subjects, gives them confidence(信心) and makes them believe that they can succeed.
Interestingly, both boys and girls tend to regard such “male” subjects like mathematics and science as difficult. Yet it has been suggested that girls avoid mathematics courses, not because they are difficult, but for social reasons.
Mathematics and science are mainly male subjects, and therefore, as girls become teenagers, they are less likely to take them up. Girls do not seem to want to be in open competition with boys. Neither do they want to do better than boys because they are afraid to appear less females and so, less attractive.
47.The underlined word “territory” in the second paragraph most probably means “_______”.
    A.interest B.area of land
    C.district D.special field
    48.According to scientific studies_______.
A.girls are poorer at Maths because they are the weaker sex
B.girls can learn Maths as well as boys if given enough encouragement
C.Maths is not fit for girls to learn
D.boys have a special sense of Maths
49.Those who made extraordinary contribution in mathematics and science_______.
A.had the abilities to solve problems by themselves
B.usually had good teachers to help them
    C.usually worked harder than others
D.were encouraged to repair things when young
50.Which of the following is NOT true according to the text?
A.It seems socially acceptable for a girl not to be able to read and write.
B.It is a social problem rather than a problem of brains that girls are poor at maths.
C.Mathematics and science are not easy subjects to either girls or boys.
D.Girls do not want to compete openly with boys.
Playgrounds offer kids fresh air, friends, and exercise. However, each year, more than 200,000 kids go to hospital because they are hurt in one way or another when playing on the playground.  So what can we do to improve the situation?
We should make sure the playground is safe for the children. It should be soft and thick enough, so when the children fall, they won't hurt too much. Things like water, rocks or broken glass might cause danger to the kids. Cleaners should check the playground from time to time and clear away these dangerous things. In fact, children themselves also need to help keep the playground clean and safe. That means each time after playing they should pick up the rubbish they've produced.  If someone finds there is something wrong with the equipment (设施), he should report to the keeper of the playground. so people will come to fix it.
Teaching kids how to play safely is also very important. If they know the rules of the playground. they won't get hurt easily. For example, they should never push when others are on seesaws or swings. If someone is going to jump off some equipment, he should first look down to make sure no other kids are in the way. Of course, wearing right clothes may also help to keep safe. Clothes with strings (绳) can get caught on equipment which may hurt the kid badly.
In short, our kids can both enjoy themselves and be safe if we are working together to improve the situation. 。

比如:an apple,an important meeting,a useful book,a university
    2.D
not only…but also…:不但……
    4.A
He stands there every morning可知,第一空表达的是“一定,肯定”,所以应该用must,所以排除C/ D选项,而第二空由He is holding a meeting in the office可知,这里表达的是”不可能”,所以应该用can’t,故选A。
broke down发生故障;broke out爆发;broke up弄破;broke into闯入。根据“stole some valuable jewellery.”
    6.A
故选A。
    7.B
比如本题中时间是for over ten years,确定动词要用延续性动词,而open是短暂性动词,变成延续性动词是be open,在完成时态中结构变成has been open。
    9.A
Because因为;Unless除非;When当…… 根据“_______ you taste the meat, you can’t imagine how delicious it tastes.”_______你尝过肉,否则你无法想象它有多好吃。
used to do sth.过去常常做某事;be used to do sth.被用来做某事;be used to doing sth.
Sure, it’s up to you当然,由你决定。 Sorry, I’m not available today对不起,我今天没空。Sorry. I can’t make it对不起。
如:①I don’t know when he will come back.
②He tells me that his sister came back yesterday.
①The children didn't know who he was.
②He asked his father how it happened.
The teacher said that the earth goes round the sun.
