Being a teenager can be difficult, since you're dealing with hormones(荷尔蒙),higher expectations, and the process of finding yourplace in the world. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the teen years. If you want to have enjoyable teenage years, there are some things you can do—big and small—that can make a huge difference!
Setting Realistic Expectations
Avoid media-based expectations, good or bad. Being a teenager is not necessarily any easier or more difficult than any other life stage. Although adolescence(青春期)is a time of great change, this does not necessarily meanit will be the most difficult time of your life. If you are worried that this new life stage will be full of ever-present drama, the truth is that this is just another stage of your life which you will get through as much as you did toddlerhood(学步期)long ago.
Developing Yourself
Develop your sense of self, focusing moreon your own thoughts and goals, instead of what other people think. For lots of people, the teenage years are full of worries—stop paying so much attention to them! Many worries arebased on what other people think, rather than what you think. Go ahead and do what youwant to do, without considering the opinion of others.
Developing Relationships
Work to improve your social skills. Someteens have trouble with social interaction(交往), with the reasons behind it different. Since social interaction is necessary in order to succeed, it's important to learn how to deal with shyness and social anxiety. Consider working with a friend or a family member of close ageto develop your social skills. It may not replace new social exchanges, but it's a good practice.
Remember, not everyone enjoys their teens; that's just a fact of life. However, if you don't enjoy your teens, centre on being kind to others and getting through it. 28.Why may it be hard for us to get through adolescence?
A.We are afraid of hormones.
B.It's the hardest stage in our life.
C.Others expect too much from us.
D. We will lose our way in the world.
29.What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A.Adolescence will be as difficult as toddlerhood.
B.As a teenager, you will get through some changes.
C. During adolescence you should avoid all kinds of expectations.
D.Being a teenager is not easy because it is full of ever-present drama.
30.Why is social interaction necessary?
A.It helps improve our social skills.
B.It helps us get away from worries.
C.It helps increase our chance of success.
D.It helps replace new social exchanges.
31.What's the opinion of the writer?
A. What we think of ourselves can cause much trouble.
B.All of us are able to experience an enjoyable adolescence.
C.Even if we can't enjoy our adolescence, we should try to get through it.
D. We should pay much attention to ourown thoughts as well as others' opinions.

We've all been there. One minute you're searching for something serious, like a recipe(食谱) for dinner, or something for work, and thenext you've been sucked in by endless videos of cats doing funny things after seeing an attractive title in your suggested videos column(专栏). They're interesting, and you can end upspending hours watching kittens make funny noises or mistiming jumps. But why do thesevideos so often end up becoming popular? What makes them so fascinating? And whyare they more popular than dog videos?
First, let's talk about stereotypes(成见). When many of us think about dogs,we imagine them rolling over onto their backs, tongues hanging out, or making a mess. They seem trusting and innocent(单纯的)——and they do silly things. Cats, on the other hand, seem somewhat more controlled and independent. There's a reason why we have an expression "cool cat". In short, cats seem more serious—and clever. If we can put one over on a cat and make them do something like getting in a box that slides down a hill,it's funny. But with a dog,it's not as funny because they trust you-and it's easier. Tricking a cat, due to their wiliness(狡猾),has more payoff.
The Internet is filled with videos of cats making funny faces or reacting strangely. But why are they so funny? Well, simply—it's unexpected. If you saw a cat walking down the street coolly or observing and preparing to attack a mouse, it wouldn't be funny. But if that cat was walking sideways, wearing a silly costume,or becoming best friends with the mouse, suddenly we might start to laugh. Watching acat that is normally impressive walk carelessly or pull a face is funny because it's not something we would normally connect with that animal. It's like watching someone who is normally very serious laugh loudly.
So the next time you see one of those funny behaviours of cats in awkward situations or videos that make you laugh, try to remember why it's so funny. And spare a thought for all those dogs that are trying to give us pleasure too.
32.What do many of us think of dogs are?
A.Innocent and simple-minded. B.Serious and clever.
D.Untrusting and controlled. C.Independent and smart.
33.What do the underlined words“put one over on”in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Feed. B.Cheat. C.Believe. D.Teach.
34.Why is it funny to watch videos of cats making funny faces?
A.People like cats very much. B.They can make friends with the mouse.
C.It's unexpected and out of character. D.The videos are recorded on purpose. 35.What's the best title of the text?
A.Why Are Cat Videos So Popular? B.Why Are Cats More Cute than Dogs?
C.Making Friends with Cats or Dogs D.The Difference Between Dogs and Cats

What Can We Learn from Gu Ailing,a Famous Olympic Champion(冠军)?
●Be yourself.
I've always dreamed big. My mom taught me that from day one. 36 The ideas of “good”and“bad”,when it comes to the wayyou behave yourself, are so subjective(主观的)that if you attempt to obey them, you'll neverfully succeed. I learned that the only way to fit a mold(模式)is to create one for yourself and that takes courage.
● 37 .
Right, sometimes you feel like as a youngperson. Oh, I have to wait until I'm older before I can make change,or before I can really do things that are important and effective to the world. But really, I think it's important tobe a young person and to show that age doesn't decide one's ability, and that experience teaches more than anything else. And so, yeah, I think that is my biggest goal and it's something that I wish I had more of growing up. 38 They are strong women and support my decision. They also serve as my role models.
●How to face failure.
One of my mottos(座右铭)is“If it were easy it wouldn't be a dream.”Adversity(逆境)and possibility of failure are what make life interesting. When I learn a new trick(技巧),it's okay to be frightened. It's okay that I will probably fall a million times before I get it right. 39 But then, you use that bravery to your advantage, and you work harder and practise more, and eventually you land that new trick. 40
A.Be young.
B.Find your role model.
C.It takes courage to be able to fall.
D.In the end,you achieve your big dreams.
E.I'm really thankful for my mom and my grandma.

“I just couldn't stop thinking about her.”That's what a nine-year-old cat lover Sutter Rowse said after he saw a story about a stray cat(流浪猫)in his community of Williams Lake,British Columbia, which was in need of surgery(外科手术). He decided to do something about it and raise funds to help the cat. Now, that cat is much better and has a brand new owner, all thanks to Sutter's hard work and clever thinking.
Online,Sutter came across a story posted by his local animal shelter. The BC SPCA explained that the cat—which was named Hazel by shelter staff—had been found at the transfer station in Anahim Lake, about fourhours west of Sutter's home. A transfer station is a place where garbage and other waste are sorted. Shelter staff said Hazel was looking for food there.
They later discovered that the back part ofit was injured. The head of her femur(股骨)was broken and died—meaning the death ofcells in some part of the body—had set in, so Hazel would need surgery to get better. SPCAstaff put out a call to the community to raise funds for it, and that's when Sutter got to work. Sutter thought up a good idea: making use of the power of cinnamon buns(肉桂面包). He knew if there was anything that could get community members to empty their pockets,it would be this sweet treat:cinnamon buns.
He and his mum,Leslie Rowse, got to workbaking, and his mum posted about Sutter's efforts on a social media page for his local community. Around 15 dozen (or 180) cinnamon buns later,Sutter had raised $850.His mum dropped off the money at the shelter, and Hazel was able to start her surgeries.
Following Hazel's surgeries and several days of recovery, Sutter's mum was ready to share some good news. Sutter's mum told Sutter that Hazel had a new owner. She asked him to guess who that owner was.“I guessed us! And I was right,” said Sutter.

1.续写词数应为150左右;

(Text 10)
Researchers should follow a few basic rules to ensure a safe working environment within the laboratory. Put on a lab coat with full sleeves,closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses before entering the lab. That not only reduces the risk of harm to the skin and eyes, but also make possibilities of pollution smaller.
Do not bring food or drink into the lab. It may be attractive to drink a cup of coffee or some water when working at your experiments, but never do this.Foodand drink in the lab can not only get messy, but can also make you absent-minded. Moreover, there is a possibility of pollution as chemical remains may be present on tables and on your hand when you are working in the lab.
Work with a lab partner as far as possible. Havinga second pair of eyes increases chances of mistakes getting noticed on time, preventing major harm. Additionally, with two people, response is always quicker in case of accidents. Even for a minor injury, like a cut frombroken glass,it helps to have someone around to get the first aid kit or help with cleaning the glass.
