Delighted to learn you are interested in the sports meeting held in my school, I’m writing to share with you some details. Usually held in October annually on the school playground, it’s a splendid platform for us to take an active part in sports and bring out the best in ourselves. This year I joined in the 1500-metre race, which was a great challenge for me. But with my adequate preparations and my classmates’ encouragement, I got the third prize finally, which made me convinced that nothing is impossible for a willing heart. Would you please share your school life with me? Looking forward to your reply.                                                                                   Yours,                                                                                   Li Hua 听力材料Text 1M: Have you seen that girl in a red skirt over there? She looks like the girl whose photo is in the newspaper. W: But it is said that the missing girl had black hair. Her hair is brown, Id rather say. Text 2W: Hey, Mark. Have you sold your old piano yet? M: Ah, not yet, just posting notices on bulletin boards at a couple of supermarkets wasnt enough. I think Ill have to place an advertisement in the local newspaper. Text 3M: Im having a lot of trouble with maths and my professor cant seem to explain it in a way that makes sense to me. W: You know, the student government runs a tutoring service. I was ready to drop chemistry before they helped me out. Text 4M: That grade on my philosophy paper? It really took me by surprise. You know I work hard in everything, but I never thought I get such a high grade. I mean, she actually gave me an A. W: Well, look, Pro. Lee is fair, so you really have yourself to thank. Text 5M: The bus will take us to the museum. Its gonna leave at ten in front of the library. So, lets meet on the library steps before ahead, OK? W: Oh I thought I told you. I have a dentist appointment this morning so Im going to meet up with you guys downtown at the museum, OK? Text 6M: Why, Connie, I havent seen you for ages. How have you been? W: Not too bad, Dennis. It has been a long time, hasnt it? It must be at least a year. M: No. We talked at the Leos Christmas party last December. Dont you remember? W: Thats right. Time flies! Christmas is coming again. M: Well, how are you? Still working at Harvard University? W: Yes, but I transferred from the German Department to the Spanish Department. M: Dont you tell me you speak Spanish, too? W: Sure, Im English but I grew up in Spain. You know, German was what I studied in college. Oh, excuse me, someone is knocking at the door. Ill talk to you later, Dennis. M: It was nice talking to you, Connie. Text 7M: My secretary told me you had called twice. Is there anything important? W: Yes. It looks as if I wont be able to keep the appointment we made. M: That will be on Thursday, wont it? W: No, Im so sorry. My uncle is arriving from America that afternoon and were having a party in the evening. You know, a big family party. M: I see. W: But could we meet on Friday or Saturday? Or some time next week? M: Afraid Im tied up at the weekend. And let me just checkNext Monday would be all right, I think. W: Thats OK for me too. Its a long drive, but Id rather get there late Friday than midday Saturday. We have three days off this time after all. M: How long is it? W: Five or six hours. M: Say you leave at 4:30, right after the work, and youll be there around nine or ten. W: I suppose so. And we could still have a good nights sleep. M: What are you going to take? W: Mostly shorts and T-shirts. M: You dont think its a bit cold at night at the seaside?W: Maybe. Im going to take a sweater or a light coat, just in case. M: Hope you have a good time there. We met immediately after the meeting and he was impressed with our work. W: Thats great, Brian. Congratulations! Have you visited any museums yet? M: No, Im afraid I havent had any time yet. I hope to take a tour around town tomorrow. W: Well, Im happy to hear that everything is going well. Ill talk to you soon. M: Thanks for calling, Betsy. Bye. W: Bye.
