On Friday afternoon when I picked Gabriel up from school, he came running towards me smiling widely. Straight away I noticed a gap on the bottom row of his teeth. I felt my heart stop for a moment. At first I thought perhaps he had had some accident, such as falling down the stairs. Gabriel wasn't old enough to lose teeth, was he?!
Before I managed to ask him, he shouted "Mummy! Mummy!  I've lost a tooth!” To my amazement, Gabriel appeared to be happy! ”Wow! When did that happen?" I asked. He thought for a few seconds and told me that he wasn't sure. He remembered eating a cake at lunchtime, and later when he checked in the mirror, his tooth was gone! No pain, no stressing and no worries!
I admit I did feel a little emotional. We focused the early years on his teeth growing, but now Gabriel would lose all those baby teeth and get adult ones! I told Gabriel to write to the tooth fairy (仙子),who would certainly visit, locate the tooth and leave a coin. Surely enough, a shiny coin was under his pillow (枕头)on Saturday. When Gabriel broke the news to Daddy, we laughed about the amount of cash kids make out of their teeth—a child usually has twenty teeth. A nice profit!
I'm proud of Gabriel. He wasn't frightened or confused, although the missing tooth may be in his stomach, which he thought was quite funny! Later I got some knowledge about which teeth are likely to go at specific ages. Of course, the ages aren't quite exact, but at least I know where we're heading.
24.How did the author feel at the sight of Gabriel's tooth gap?
    A.Angry. B.Anxious. C.Helpless. D.Disappointed.
25.When did Gabriel probably lose his tooth?
    A.After school. B.In class.
C.While falling down the stairs. D.While having lunch.
26.What can we know from paragraph 3?
A.Gabriel received 20 shiny coins. B.The couple made fun of Gabriel.
C.The writer accepted Gabriel's growth. D.The fairy visited Gabriel on Friday night.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Missing Tooth B.Focus Less on Loss
C.A Letter to the Tooth Fairy D.Cash in on Teeth
    C
Your next car could have two seats, three wheels — two in front and one in the back and a top speed of more than 100 miles per hour. Elio Motors plans to make such a tiny car named the Elio. Its two seats sit front and back instead of side by side. The driver is positioned in the center with the passenger directly behind.
The starting price for the car is just $6,800. It has only one door, on the left side, which cuts a few hundred dollars off the manufacturing costs. Having three wheels also makes it cheaper. It has air conditioning, power windows and door locks and an AM/FM radio. More features can be ordered through Elio's long list of suppliers. Elio will also sell the cars directly through its own stores and not through franchised dealers (特约经销商).
Paul Elio dreamed as a kid that he would one day own a car company called Elio Motors. In 2008, tired of high gas prices, he started working on a car that burns gas in a more effective way. Equally important to him was creating U.S. manufacturing jobs and making the car inexpensive enough to attract buyers who might otherwise be stuck in their old, unreliable cars. “Whatever matters to you, this can move the needle on it,” he said.
Already, more than 27,000 people have reserved (预订) one. Paul hopes to make 250,000 cars a year by 2016. So far, reservation holders are those who will use the Elio as a second or third car for work. Finally, though, he believes the car will interest high school and college students as well as used-car drivers who want something newer and more reliable.
28.Which of the following shows the design of the Elio? (○ = wheel, □ = seat)
    A. B. C. D.
    29.Paragraph 2 shows that the Elio ________.
A.will be available in most stores B.is sold at affordable prices
C.has a fixed temperature D.does no harm to the environment
30.The underlined words “move the needle” in Paragraph 3 probably mean “________”.
    A.take a chance B.stand in the way C.break into pieces D.make a difference
31.What would be the best title for the text?
A.The history of Elio Motors B.Cool car or stupid vehicle?
C.Paul Elio: a kid with big dreams D.What car to choose: new or used?

    D
Most of us don’t put much thought into the way we smile when we have our picture taken or meet someone new, but a recent study by scientists in the US found that certain types of smiles have a better influence on people than others.
According to the study, having a “good” smile is an important way to present ourselves well to other people.
“A lot of people don’t understand how important their smiles are and how important this way of communication we do with each other every day is,” Stephen Guy, co-author of the research, wrote in the study.
But what exactly is a good smile, and how did the scientists come to their conclusion?
A group of 802 members of the public, aging from 18 to 82, were shown a 3-D animated(动画的) face. The face displayed different types of smiles, and the subjects(受试者) were asked to rate them, from “frightening” to “pleasant”.
After studying the results, the scientists discovered that the “best” smiles are the ones where the mouth is at an angle of between 13 and 17 degrees, and the mouth isn’t too broad or perfectly straight. In simple terms, don’t smile like a shark if you’re trying to make a good impression.
It’s believed that the findings could be used in a number of ways, including making video game characters appear more realistic. The scientists also hope their work will help doctors who are trying to restore facial movement to patients who have suffered from strokes(中风)or other conditions.
But Guy pointed out that nobody should feel bad if they don’t match up to his so-called perfection of smile.
”It is important to be clear that there is not just one really, really good smile,“ he told The Guardian. ”Just because your smile is different, doesn’t mean it is in any way bad.“
32.What is the main idea of the article?
A.Smile is a good impression. B.What is a good smile?
C.Smile is the best medicine. D.How smiles influence people’s health.
33.Which of the following statements is right according to the study?
A.The broader the mouth, the better the smile.
B.Smile is the best medicine for patients’ recovering.
C.Smiling is the most beautiful body language.
D.People don’t need to force a perfect smile.
34.Which of the following word has similar meaning with the word “conditions”?
    A.Diseases. B.Situations.
    C.Terms. D.States.
35.What is the main purpose of this passage?
A.To encourage us to smile perfectly.
B.To explain the function of a good smile.
C.To inform us of the findings concerning good smiles.
D.To tell us the importance of the way of smiling.

    第二节(满分25分)
    67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
A couple of months before I started high school, my parents gave me the greatest gift any teenage boy would ask for: a cellphone. I lived on that phone all summer. I always texted my friends, even at night. And I paid no attention to the people and things around myself. Being connected to the Internet was more important than being present.
So, you can imagine my displeasure when I learned what my dad had planned for our family vacation that year. It was not the Disneyland trip or beach vacation that I had been hoping for.“This year,” my dad said, “we’ll be doing something special, something I used to do with my dad when I was a kid. We’re going camping in the forest!”
His excitement was met with a disappointed sigh (失望的叹息),which was my communication style at that age. But he had made the decision and would not change his mind. I comforted myself by telling myself that it was still a vacation. I remained uninfluenced when they were busy preparing for the vacation.
My mind was on my phone, the texts flying back and forth. I focused on the screen in my hands so much that the first time I looked up was when we drove across a bridge on the trip to our campsite.
I looked out of the window and saw a fast-moving river. The air blowing into the car from the open windows was hot and smelt of trees. But that didn't matter to me. The reason why I had looked up was for something far more serious and annoying. My phone no longer had service. The signal was weak. During the last hour of the drive, there was no signal at all.
    注意:
    1. 续写词数应为150左右;
    2. 请按如下格式作答。
My dad explained he had chosen a campsite that had no phone service.
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The next morning, without checking my phone as usual, I fixed my mind on nature around myself.

M: Well, teenagers in the world like to have barbeques and parties in the park, but American students like to have parties at their own houses. Every weekend different students would invite me to their places, and we would have a great time.
第十段对话【原文】M: The Vivicat is the kind of cat who sleeps all day long and doesn’t care about the outside world. Guo Bin likes it so much that he created a toy cat series after it. Guo’s first Vivicat series came out during the toy show in April, 2019 in Shanghai. It had ten Vivicats, with each sitting in different positions, such as watching TV on a sofa, hiding in a baseball glove or sitting on a big fish. The second series came out four months later during the Beijing Toy Show. These were ten new toy cats in different positions, such as lying on a computer or lying in a lunch box while eating French fries and a burger. Now Guo is planning to design the third series. The Vivicat shows a perfect lifestyle, relaxed and being lazy. As Guo puts it, life can be so busy that we need to be lazy sometimes. It’s a good way to drive us to move forward.

    66.My Favorite Camping Site
My favorite camping site is Sunshine Camping Centre, which is located right behind our school campus.
Surrounded by a large lake, the camp site displays amazing scenery, especially when there’s fine weather. Besides, it also provides you with a large area of accommodation, where you are able to put up tents anywhere you like, as well as a relaxing fishing terrace and a barbecue area. If you want something formal for dinner, the camp has several restaurants for you to book, and you can also enjoy the camp bathing centre if you prefer a fresh night.
The activity aims to get us closer to the nature, where we can not only free ourselves from stressful schoolwork, but also learn more from the nature. I sincerely look forward to your attendance.
67.My dad explained he had chosen a campsite that had no phone service. I realized my phone would be useless until we returned home. I would be trapped in the forest for four days with no way to connect myself with the outside world. I went from an unhappy state to anger. However, that couldn’t make my phone receive the signal. I went to bed angrily that first night. But when I awoke in the morning, something had changed.
The next morning, without checking my phone as usual, I fixed my mind on nature around myself. My dad and I hiked through the forest, enjoying nature. We went fishing and swimming. I listened to stories of Dad's life. When the vacation came to an end, I realized I hadn't thought of my phone once. It dawned on me that I needed to value the moments with nature and the important persons in life. With this lesson carried to this day, I regularly pack up the tent and drive until my phone shows words: “No service.”
