①My dad earned money to pay family expenses from age 14.
②I didn’t really understand his world.
③ I thought that I would surpass anything he had accomplished after high school gradua- tion.
④I planned to do with the pay as I wished.
⑤I wasn’t interested more work.
⑥I understood immediately what my parents were worried about.
⑦ the truck
回应:
①He exerted all his energies to support the family without any bitter words.
② I now understand all the efforts my dad put into the family.
③I would never surpass what my dad did for the family due to my little responsibility tak- en for the household.
④I decided to contribute all my money to mend the truck instead of buying a new basket- ball.
⑤That night, before I went to bed, I decided to continue my work if I could because I learned the true meaning of growing up.
⑥⑦My parents had intended to fix the bro- ken truck but couldn’t get enough money to afford it.
On the way home full of excitement, I thought about how to make use of the “huge”sum of money.“I need a new football in the future.”I whispered to myself. Approaching my house, I noticed my dad and mom standing beside the old truck of my family, looking sad.
On the way home full of excitement, I thought about how to make use of the “huge”sum of money. Approaching my house, I noticed my dad and mom standing beside the old truck of my family, looking sad.“I need a new football in the future.”
(2018年6月浙江卷读后续写 ) I knew we had gotten hopelessly lost. After seemingly ages, there came a loud cry of my dad. As a quick response, I shouted in a loud voice.“Dad, I’m here!”Tracing my voice, Dad finally found me and we got reunited.
( 2021年6月浙江卷读后续写)On the way home full of excitement, I thought about how to make use of the“huge” sum of money. Approaching my house, I noticed my dad and mom standing beside the old truck of my family, looking sad. That night, before I went to bed, I decided to continue my work if I could because I learned the true mean- ing of growing up.
( 2021 年6月浙江卷读后续写 ) From age 14, my dad earned and used it to pay family expenses. I didn’t really understand his world either. At home, my dad said, “A job’s a big step to growing up. I’m glad you will be contributing to the household. ”My dad’s words made me realize that my earnings might not be mine to do with as I wished. My labors lasted about two weeks, and the farmer said there might be more work, but I wasn’t interested. I decided it was not fair that I had to contribute my money.
I understood immediately what my parents were worried about. My parents had intended to buy a new truck but couldn’t get enough money to afford it. Suddenly, I realized what I should do my part in the family responsibilities. Hold- ing the money, I said,“Dad, here is what I got for my work. I hope it would help. ”That night, before I went to bed, I decided to continue my work if I could because I learned the true mean- ing of growing up.
护林员这个角色虽然在所给材料中并未出现,但试题材料已对其进行了暗示“I radioed the camp manager for help. He told me a helicopter was on its way. ”。
例如, 在 2018 年 6 月浙江卷读后续写试题中,对于“we”能否找到回农场的路,虚的结局可以设置为“And just when all hope seemed lost, anxious shouts were heard in the distance with torches coming into sight. ”,实的结局则可以设置为“Finally, Uncle Paul found us and we were back, safe and sound. ”。

Anna was the school's best dancer and this was what she told her parents everyday. “Mrs.Kelly says I am very gifted,” she said, “She says maybe I will be the best dancer in our ballet(芭蕾)team. ”
Mrs. Kelly had said these things, but she had said so to a number of dancers in order to encourage them because she believed it’s important to get students inspired. Anna was also inspired by her words to be winner and beat everyone else. However, Mrs Kelly actually preferred that Anna just liked to dance on the stage.
“Students! Students!”Mr. Kelly called to the small group of girls around Anna. “I’d like to introduce to you our new student, Sally. She loves dancing as you do. I hope you all take time to say hi to her nicely.”
Anna looked at Sally with dancing shoes in her hands. Sally did not have a dancer’s body: She was short, with legs that looked like they belonged to a frog instead of an eleven-year-old girl. Anna felt relaxed and was sure this girl would not dance well.
In the following weeks, however, it turned out that Anna made a wrong guess about Sally’s dancing performance. In fact, Sally was not jut a good dancer, but an amazingly gifted dancer. She danced in beautiful ways that Anna thought was impossible for such a short girl.
What’s more, Sally was a nice girl. She often helped girls with difficult dance moves. She was active, She was smart, and everyone liked her. It seemed that Sally was taking everything away from Anna.
Anna was sad and mad. The school ballet team would pick out the best dancer in only two weeks. She worried that Sally would win the contest and become the best dancer.

I ever studied at a school that was down the street from a homeless shelter (收容所). The shelter was right next door to a little gas station where they sold breakfast daily. I would rode my bike to the station. I would buy a sandwich and a coke every morning from the store. There was always someone standing around outside asking for money to get something to eat. As my family wasn’t rich, I hardly had money to spare, but sometimes I would give the homeless my change until I noticed most of them would go inside and buy a beer with the money instead of food. I stopped giving out my change and just told them I didn’t have money.
One day, as I was walking out of the store, I noticed an old man who was obviously homeless. However, interestingly, he was always wearing a nice suit (西装) and a tie and just sitting on the sidewalk watching the cars go by. When I walked past him, he asked me in a very kind voice whether I had any change to spare so that he could get a sandwich. Before I could say a word, he added that he wasn’t wanting “beer money”. I had just enough money in my pocket that day to pay for another sandwich and a can of coke. So, I just walked back inside the store and bought him some breakfast. When I came out and gave it to him, his eyes lit up. He said, “Thank you very much!” We sat and talked for a minute before I had to go to school.
It became an everyday ritual (习惯). I learned that his name was Massey and from Africa. Whenever I had the to spare, I would buy two sandwiches and two cokes. We would sit outside the store, have our breakfast together and talk for a while until it was time for me to go to school.
For a while, I stopped buying our breakfast every morning because my brother’s birthday was coming up. I wanted to save up so that I could buy him a gift. I explained to Massey the reason and he said he understood, but still sat and talked with me.

My father is a practical man. He can’t explain calculus (微积分) , but he can tell you how much pressure boiler needs. He put himself through night school to become an engineer, but that was only after he worked as an electrician and a mechanic.
One day we walked by a toy store window. Sitting in the corner was the most unusual dollhouse (玩具屋) I’d ever seen. It was shaped like an upturned log.
“Oh, Daddy,” I said, “isn’t it beautiful? Do you think Santa Claus will bring it to me?”
Dad looked at the $100 price tag—an exorbitant (过高的) figure in those days. “I think even Santa couldn’t afford this house,” he joked, hiking up his belt as he often does when he’s nervous. “Maybe one day, sweetheart.”
On Christmas morning, I awoke early and raced downstairs. In the dim (昏暗的) light, I made out some wrapped boxes under the tree—but none large enough to contain my dollhouse. Dad could see my disappointment. He pulled me onto his lap and gently told me how, as a boy, he had wanted a red wagon, but his father couldn’t afford one. He said he made his own from wood and old wheels he found. “I’ll make one for you,” Dad promised me.
And right after Christmas, despite all the unfinished projects at home, he started it. I had thought it was an easy toy to make, but every step of the long process was more complex (复杂的) than I had expected. Night after night, Dad would come home from his job dead tired, yet he’d always find time to work on the log house. In the dim light, dad was always busy creating my dollhouse.

Thirty years ago, Cayley was greatly surprised to find that she had a brother. She made up her mind to find him. Since then she refused to leave the home she grew up in, hoping that her brother would knock on the door one day. Little did Cayley know that her brother, Nick Rhoades, had been longing to do so, but only to walk away at the last minute. But thanks to the TV programme Long Lost Family, the pair have enjoyed an emotional reunion.
Cayley’s mum Jacqueline left the family when her daughter was only seven to start a new life in America. Cayley was brought up by her grandmother Victoria, who died in 2001, and she clearly remembered first finding out about her brother Nick. Cayley was quite angry with the fact that was covered up. So she was determined to find her brother no matter what difficulties she would meet with.
Many years later, Cayley, her husband, Colin, and their children were still staying in the house where she grew up because she always had hope that one day her brother would knock on the door. Her husband Colin was very understanding and even though they had two other houses to move to, they stayed in the same house. She never gave up hope.
Meanwhile, when Nick knew he was adopted, he did ask his parents questions and they told him everything they knew. His adoptive parents were so loving and his mum had adopted hundreds of children. Nick had been one of those lucky kids. He had lived a really very happy childhood. Sadly, when Nick was 18 his adoptive mum died of cancer. After several years, his adoptive father also died. Nick was extremely sad during that period of time. Once again, he became a poor orphan without parents, which led him to make the decision to find his birth mum Jacqueline.
Nick had been given his birth certificate (出生证) by his adoptive parents with an address on it.

Shoes are made for walking.
But Aamir, a homeless Indian boy, doubted it. Wandering the noisy railway platform, he found one of his flip-flops (人字拖鞋) broken again. He hurried to a corner, sat down and tried to fix it, his bare foot pressing awkwardly against the ground. However, it was beyond repair.
He gave up and looked around aimlessly, staring at people’s shoes. Suddenly, his eyes were drawn to two boyish legs wearing flawlessly white socks and equally perfect black leather shoes, which were glittering in the mid-day sun. It was a boy of his age. He couldn’t treasure his possession too much, obviously, because every ten seconds, he stopped, bent down and carefully wiped a dust or two from his shoes. His father was constantly glancing over and urging him, “Hurry up! The train is coming!”
Aamir’s eyes followed the father and son, but mostly the leather shoes, as if enchanted Imagining himself wearing them, the comfort from the good leather, jaw-dropping look on his friends’ faces, he couldn’t help cracking a big smile.
The bell of the train drew him back; the fancy-shoe boy and his father were about to get aboard. They tried to crowd into the doorway. However, the instant the boy entered the compartment (车厢), one of his shoes fell off and before he could pick it up, the train began to pull away.
The shoe was now lying alone on the platform. Aamir’s eyes lit up with excitement. Like an arrow, he shot for the shoe and then picked it up, holding it with both hands as if holding the Queen’s crown. After a few seconds of hesitating and looking from the shoe to the train and back, he began racing--with only one good shoe, his flip-flop.
He held the leather shoe up, trying to pass it to the boy through the window, who was desperately reaching out his hand as well. However, it was never close enough.
Para 1: That left Aamir no choice but to throw the shoe onto the train.

Somehow, she even was a little excited about the plan when thinking that maybe she would be the best dancer. She began to think of the plan carefully. Firstly, she thought Sally must perform badly and leave a terrible impression on audience on the stage. Therefore, she decided to put something that couldn’t be found in Sally’s shoes. An idea hit her: sand, which seemed to be the most suitable thing for this plan. As a result, Anna put some sand in Sally’s shoes secretly.
However, she insisted on dancing with the smiling expression to present the perfect condition. All these things were caught by Anna who was standing on the wing. Looking at her insistence with pain, Anna felt a sense of guilt instead of the pleasure from success of the plan. So, Anna told the truth in shame and chose to withdraw from the competition after Sally limped painfully off the stage. To her surprise, Sally smiled and said, “it’s the friendship rather than the best dancer that matters.” Anna was moved deeply and headed for the stage.

My brother’s birthday finally came and I felt depressed because I hadn’t too much money to buy him a gift. That morning, I decided to buy two sandwiches and two cokes. I wanted to share breakfast with Massey. However, I didn’t see him. I felt upset and went to buy a sandwich. To my surprise, when I walked out fromthe store, I found, on the seat, an electrical train and a birthday card that said “Happy Birthday” with a little smiley face. When I looked around, I could see Massey walking into the shelter.
The next day when it came time for our morning chat, I asked Massey if he had left the gift on my bike. He avoided the question. He asked if my brother had a good birthday. I never got him to give me a straight answer about the birthday gifts, but I knew it was him. I showed my gratitude for what he did for us. Not too long after that, Massey moved away. However, every year on my brother’s birthday and mine, we would get a card in the mail with no return address that said nothing but “Happy Birthday” with a little smiley face.

I hesitated, wondering if I should help my father. But he seemed to know what I thought and one night said to me with a smile, “I need your help. Let’s create the dollhouse together.” “But, daddy, I don’t know how,” said I. “That doesn’t matter. I will teach you,” said my father. So every night when he worked on the dollhouse, I would sit by his side and he would patiently and lovingly teach me how to make such a toy. It was really not easy, but our efforts paid off and we finally made it.
In all, it took one month of hard work by us. My joy was beyond description at that moment. Then I heard my father saying, “I can build a lot of things, but I can’t build your life. All I can do is to help you build your own.” I would always remember his words, so the dollhouse became the most special gift to me. Long after I gave up playing dolls, I would occasionally bring it down from the attic just to admire it and remember those days when we worked together to bring my dream to life.

Nick and his wife Sandra decided to find his mother’s house. It felt so strange that Nick knew it was exactly the house when they were approaching it. He had a feeling that he had been living here long long time ago. He was eager to knock at the door, but he stopped all of a sudden. His concern was that he might interrupt his mother. He didn’t want to go into the house directly and told her they were her son and daughter-in-law.
Thankfully, Nick’s sister Cayley and Nick’s wife Sandra both turned to Long Lost Family for help. Cayley wanted to find her little brother, and Sandra wanted to help her husband find about his mum. Cayley was asked lots of personal questions. She burst into tears when she knew they were about her brother. When they finally met, Nick knew it was exactly his sister. They were so alike, even their gestures or ways of speaking were the same. A month later, Nick was reunited with his mum, who flew back from America. They are always meeting up from then on.

That left Aamir no choice but to throw the shoe onto the train. With his eyes fixed on the window, Aamir put all his strength in his right hand and made a powerful throw. However, he abruptly fell off because of the broken flip-flop. Without a second thought, he tried again, the shoe just flew past the window frame and fell on the platform like a dead leaf. Seeing this, Aamir stamped his feet, wearing a frustrated look. “Are shoes really made for walking?”, Aamir thought with depression. He drooped his head, not knowing what to do next.
But when he raised his head, Aamir saw the other shoe thrown out of the window. Miraculously, it landed on the platform several steps away from him. Before he could look up again and seek out the fancy-shoe boy, the train sped on, vanishing in the distance. What remained in sight was the meandering rail track and the rolling mountains far away. Twenty years later, when he was launching his new footwear product at a press conference, wearing a pair of shining leather shoes, Aamir started his presentation with a simple sentence: “Shoes are made for walking.”
