    人教新目标 英语九年级Unit 5 Section B Beauty in Common Things                                          一、教学目标: 1. 知识目标:1) 学习掌握下列词汇:scissors, paper cutting, form, balloon, heat, lively 2) 学习掌握下列短语:be turned into, be used by, send out, such as, covered with, rise into, puton3) 学习掌握下列句型:Sth can be turned into sth else. sth is/are made by/in/of4)了解与中国传统文化艺术有关的风俗习惯和文化背景,如孔明灯、剪纸等。2. 能力目标:   1)了解常见的文章结构特点——先总体介绍,后细节描述。并运用于写作中;   2)引导学生用英语正确表达中国的传统艺术和相关名称,进一步巩固本单元的目标语言结构——被动语态。3. 情感态度价值观目标:拓宽学生的知识面和提升民族自豪感,对学生跨文化交际意识和能力的培养进行潜移默化的教育。二、教学重难点1. 教学重点:1) 掌握本部分出现的生词和词组,达到熟练运用一般现在时被动语态的目标。2) 阅读短文,获得相关的信息。通过阅读活动,明确“A general introduction is usually followed by specific details and examples”阅读策略2. 教学难点:1)  阅读短文,获得相关的信息,并构建落实“A general introduction is usually followed by specific details and examples”阅读策略的思维导图。2)  理解并运用所学的词汇及被动语态完成有关产品原材料和产品用途的宣传三、教学过程Teaching processTeaching ProcessTeacher activity presetStudent activity presetTeaching AimsPost readingDo a paper cutting of a Chinese character double happiness.Watch and guess what the teacher is going to cut.To draw the Ss attention and arose their interests in Chinese traditional culture as well as to introduce the topic of this lesson.While readingSkimming:             2. Consolidation     1. ask the Ss to look through the passage quickly to skim How many traditional art forms are there in the passage?  2. ask the Ss: Which part gives the general introduction? Where can you find specific details? 3. ask the Ss to read the passage for more details and complete the chart below the passage. 4. lead the Ss the read the passage paragraph by paragraph and give some questions about each paragraph.  5. show some pictures about how clay art is made and lead the Ss to complete the process by using procedure linking words.  6. help the Ss to review the key phrases of this passage.skim the passage and then answer the question together    skim the passage and answer Class time to complete  Read for details and think about the answers then complete the chart.  Read the paragraph carefully and try to find the answers. volunteer to answer them.   look at the screen and complete the procedures of make clay art using the methods introduced in the last paragraph. go over the phrases and used them to complete the sentences in 2dTo prompt Ss to think about Chinese traditional art.      To learn the target reading strategy: A general introduction is usually followed by specific details and examples   To read for more details and understand the passage and the strategy better To solve some difficult structures by setting some questions for Ss to answer. And to teach Ss how to find the answers quickly by using key words. To review the linking words through how a product is made. therefore, Ss can practice the link words as well as passive voices. to consolidate the meaning of key phrases. Post Reading7. Show a mind map of Sky Lantern and set an example for the students to draw their own mind maps about paper cutting and clay art. 8. writing: introduce a task for the Ss, that is to write a product which is famous in our town. ask the Ss to discuss in group and encourage volunteers to express their opinionslisten and complete the example mind map and understand how it works; then draw mind maps on the worksheet discuss in groups about what the products is made of , why it is famous, what it can do and so on. then write a passage for advertising.TO change the meaning of each paragraph into a mind map so that the Ss can develop a skill of reading by draw mind maps. to encourage the Ss to express their opinion about a given subject and to consolidate what they have learnt so far using the target language in wrting四、Homework Try to write about your favorite local traditional art forms, such as Chao Opera, bamboo products and so on.
