Milan has it all, whether you love fashion, homeware, or jewellery. Let us help you get started with the best fashion destinations in Milan.Quadrilatero della ModaThis is Milan's fashion soul. Think about some famous designers. They will most likely have an atelier (工作室) here. It is one of the main shopping streets in the world, along with Paris' Avenue des ChampsElysées and New York's Fifth Avenue. But walking along these streets isn't only about shopping. It's also about sightseeing. As you walk past the luxury (奢侈品) brands, you'll see some of Milan's most famous landmarks, including Palazzo Morando and Poldi Pezzoli Museum.Opening times: Most shops between 1000 and 1900 or 2000Nearest station: 4minute walk from MontenapoleoneCorso VercelliIf you're wondering where local people in Milan go shopping, it's Corso Vercelli. It is close to Fiera Milano, not too far from Parco Sempione. The roots of this avenue date back to the late 19th century, when it was particularly favoured by tax and duty laws. Today, it offers exciting shopping opportunities with smaller crowds. The historic tram crossing the area gives it a unique atmosphere.Opening timesMost shops between 1000 and 1900 or 2000Nearest station4minute walk from Pagano StationSempione AreaThe area around Parco Sempione is one of the most picturesque areas. It offers endless shopping opportunities—both highend and budgetfriendly. Thanks to the wide range of restaurants, bars and clubs, it's trendy among students and young professionals, making it the perfect place to grab a bargain. If you head east from the park, you'll be bound to come across Milan's Chinatown—the largest and oldest in Italy, where you'll find plenty of affordable knickknacks (小装饰物) and furniture.Opening times: Most shops between 930 and 1930 or 2030Nearest station: 14minute walk from  Milan Cadorna StationAnother place is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele which houses stores like Louis Vuitton and expensive restaurants. On the rock, I am fully present. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert (警觉的), and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absentmindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential. As an arts student studying English literature, I discovered a new type of reading from outdoor climbing. Going out on to the crags (悬崖), I saw how you could learn to read the rocks and develop a vocabulary of physical movements. Good climbers knew how to map their bodies on to the stone. Watching them, I wanted to possess that skillful language. My leap happened when I worked for the Cairngorms National Park Authority. Guiding my explorations into this strange new landscape was Nan Shepherd, a lady too. Unlike the goaldirected mindset of many mountaineers, she is not concerned with peaks or personal beats. Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Caingorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements. Through her generous spirit and my own wanderings, I saw that rock climbing need not be a process of testing oneself against anything. Rather, the intensity of focus could release a person into another way of being.Spending so much time in high and stony places has changed my view on the world and our place in it. I have come into physical contact with processes that go way beyond the everyday. Working with gravity, geology (地质学), rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This connection lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is where I feel in touch with our land.4Why does the author like rock climbing?AIt challenges her to compete with men.BIt allows her a unique attitude toward rock.C.It teaches her how to possess a new language.D.It makes her feel connected with the world.5What does the writer find important in climbing?A.Balance.    BConcentration.CDetermination.    DCuriosity.6What does the writer learn from Nan Shepherd?A.Climbing goes together with nature.BEvery mountain top is within reach.CThe best climber is the one having fun.DYou cannot achieve high unless you change.7What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 refer to?ATime.    BContact.CThe world.    DMy view.C[2022·东北三省四市教研联合体高考模拟试卷]What sort of scenery do you find most appealing? Researchers in the UK. asked volunteers that question, doing an online photorating game, and the result is what you'd expect. Beautiful mountains, enough greenery, beautiful water features like lakes and oceans says Chanuki Seresinhe, a data scientist at the Warwick Business School. The more surprising finding was that humanbuilt structures, towers and cottages, could enhance the understanding of the beauty of a scene. And big expanses of green grass like athletic fields didn't actually rate that highly. What they did next is where the data science comes in: They fed a computer 160, 000 photographs rated through the online game. And they taught the machine to break each image into the scenic elements it contained, snowy mountains, waterfalls, crosswalks and construction sites. Then they presented the computer with a challenge: They asked it to rate the scenic beauty of other photos it had never seen before. And it actually did pretty well at estimating the average crowdsourced consensus(共识) of beauty. The study is in the journal Royal Society Open Science.Smart as it is, the sceneryloving computer probably won't be putting tour guides out of business. “Actually I think it can help tour guides, because what's interesting is that I think maybe it can actually uncover places that might not have been that popular.” And Seresinhe says the system might also help city planners more objectively evaluate the scenic beauty of new urban developments. “We can also now look at how to design cities that people find more beautiful and which people might want to actually spend more time in.” If the computer doesn't become truly intelligent, humans may express subjective opinions entirely on their own.  8What surprised you more in the game?AAthletic fields were popular.BHumanbuilt structures rated highly.CNatural landscapes were appealing.DThe views of scene beauty varied among volunteers.9What's the attitude of the writer towards computers?AApproving.    BSubjective.CSceptical.    DNegative.10How does the writer develop the text?ABy providing examples.BBy analyzing results.CBy comparing findings.DBy asking questions.11Who can benefit a lot from the findings in the text?ACity planners.BComputer programmers.CNewspaper editors.DInsurance agents.DIndian stepwells(阶梯井) are nothing new, having provided access to fresh water for years before they were abandoned. And while they are a part of Indian cultural heritage, they lost their purpose for some time. As the extreme droughts are rocking India, these ancient stepwells are restored for what they do best—providing water.Shaped like an upsidedown pyramid(金字塔) digging into the ground and lined by thousands of steps, stepwells can collect rainwater. They are wonderfully efficient at providing water for nearly 1500 years. Sadly, over 3000 stepwells have either been abandoned or left to rot, with some even covered by garbage. Now, thanks to the restoration programme, stepwells will come full circle.Since the restoration process began, at least 15 wells have been restored in the city of Delhi. The cost will be around $ 60000, but by doing so, the water supply for the city could reach an additional 33000 gallons. Rajkumar Sharma, a local citizensaid“I was elated at the reuse of the stepwells. The stepwell in our village was the only source of water. With time going by, it dried up and changed into a place for rubbish. We now have access to clean water for drinking and other purposes.”Historian Rana Safvi explained“Costly and painstaking as this program is, repairing these traditional stepwells to their former glory provides water for many. But apart from that, it also spotlights the beautiful architecture features of ancient India. This helps attract tourists and can also be used in religious ceremonies.”She added“These stepwell restorations not only help India reduce the impact of droughts, but also are promise of a better future for India overall.”12Why are the stepwells in India restored?AThey have a new purpose.BThey are cultural heritage.CThey can ease water shortage.DThey are in poor condition.13What does the underlined word “elated” Paragraph 3 mean?AEncouraged.    BShocked.CImpressed.    DThrilled.14What's Rana Safvi's attitude to the program?A.Cautious.    BFavorable.CTolerant.    DUncaring.15What does this text mainly talk about?AStepwells are brought back to life.BStepwells make India more attractive.CStepwells offer a new solution to droughts.D.Stepwells provide convenience for Indians.[答题区]题号12345678答案        题号9101112131415 答案        第二节 (5小题;每小题2分,满分10)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。 It seems like some people are born with a good sense of direction while others are always getting lost.__16__ You can improve your sense of direction. You just need to work at it. Nowadays, of course, it's convenient to rely on GPS rather than commit a long, complex route to memory.__17__ Studying a larger map and remembering the route before you set out does have its benefits. The amount of mental energy it requires means it's more likely to stick in your mind. Looking at digital maps on a big screen or even studying a paper map also allows you to get a sense of the allimportant bigger picture and how places fit together.__18__ It's also important to notice what's around you in all directions. Instead of staring straight  ahead, make sure you look up, down and behind you as well. This will be particularly useful when you're doing the journey in reverse(反向)—even if it's just finding your way back from the toilet in a restaurant. Another tip? Taking photographs or writing notes at key locations can help you keep them in your memory. Finally, try to relax when you're on unfamiliar ground. __19__ But this sudden anxiety will only prevent you from calmly working out which way to go. Besides, getting lost is one of the best ways to discover  new places and add more details to that evergrowing mental map, both of which will help you have a better sense of direction in the long term.Your sense of direction is a useitorloseit skill. If you only stick to the routes you already know, it's never going to get any better.__20__ADon't just look where you're going.BSo now it's time to start exploring!CIf you're one of the “lost” ones, don't worry.D.Anxiety plays a role in our sense of direction, too.EIt's all too easy to get anxious if you suspect you may be lost.FDeveloping a good sense of direction usually takes much practice.GBut ignore it if you really want to improve your sense of direction.[答题区]16________ 17.________ 18.________19________ 20.________   40分阅读理解提分练(三)阅读理解第一节A语篇类型:应用文 主题语境:人与社会——文化与旅行——在米兰购物的几个好去处【文章大意】 文章主要介绍了米兰四个购物场所的情况。 根据Corso Vercelli部分中的where local people in Milan go shopping”“The roots of this avenue date back to the late 19th century”“The historic tram crossing the area gives it a unique atmosphere可知,对米兰当地生活和历史感兴趣的人会对参观Corso Vercelli最感兴趣,故B项正确。 Opening times: Most shops between 930 and 1930 or The more surprising...rate that highly可知,更令人惊讶的发现是,人类建造的建筑、塔楼和小屋可以增进人们对风景之美的理解;而像运动场这样有大片的绿色草地的地方实际上并没有得到很高的评价。 The stepwell in...source of water可知,阶梯井是村里唯一的水源;根据该段尾We now have access...other purposes可知,在修复阶梯井后,现在他们有了干净的饮用水和其他用途的水。 It's also important to...down and behind you as well可知,注意四面八方也很重要,不要只往前看,也要看四周。
