One Possible Version:
A Chinese Calligraphy Competition
In a bid to carry forward traditional Chinese culture, a Chinese calligraphy competition was held at our school hall last Sunday.
As scheduled, all senior one students gathered at 2:30 pm. Within an hour, by smoothly using the writing brush, plenty of participants created marvelous works on the spot, showing beautiful structures and various styles of Chinese characters. After cautious selection of the judges, thirty pieces stood out and were displayed on the exhibition board, which gave us a unique visual feast.
Not only did this unforgettable event serve as a showcase for their talents, but it also sparked students’ passion for traditional culture exploration.

One Possible Version:
On Monday morning, Andy walked into school expecting the glowing admiration of his fellow students. However, as he walked down the hall, many heads turned. Teachers moved aside, guys pointed at him, and girls covered their mouths to hide their laughter. A day full of whispers, jeers, and awkward questions left Andy collapsed in his seat in class. Proud as he was of his creation this morning, he wished he could have a change of his clothes. Once the last bell rang, Andy stormed out of the classroom.
Full of disappointment and anger, he rushed home. Throwing himself into chair, Andy began to cry. “It hasn’t been a great day, huh?”Andy’s father asked, sitting beside him. “Nobody could understand me!”Andy sobbed, burying his face in his hands. “Well, not all people can appreciate this creation. ”Andy’s father responded, “As for me, I like your incredible design. Why don’t you think of it as your first draft? The most famous designers didn’t build their clothing kingdom on one outfit--especially their first. ”“A first draft. . . ”Andy sniffled, he knew that father always had a point. Eventually, Andy looked up at his father, smiling through tears. Apparently this was the best lesson in design.

M: Many people in the USA are really dependent on their cars to go to work or school. In fact, most American workers spend an hour driving to work each day. In order to drive in the USA, you have to go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles first, and take a written test to get your learner’s permit. If you pass this test, you can practice driving and then you can pass a road test and get your license. To prepare for the road test, you can take classes at a driving school. If you cannot, you can practice driving by yourself. If you are caught driving with only a learner’s permit, you may get into trouble with the law. Once you get your driver’s license in one state, you can drive in all of the states in America. Wherever you drive, you will see signs posted along the road indicating the speed limit. The local police use special equipment to test your speed. If they find you are speeding or driving over the speed limit, the police can stop you and give you a ticket.
