It also learns to obey such commands as “forward”, “left”, “right” and “sit” and to disobey any command that might lead its owner into danger.

Last summer holiday, Aunt Emily took us to a safari park (野生动物园), not far from Liverpool.
I was very happy to go as I had never been to a safari park before. It’s a very interesting park, full of wild animals running freely.
When we got there, we bought our tickets and drove into the park. We were very excited at the thought of going to see the lions. But to get to the lions’ place we had to go through the monkeys’ land first. And that was an unforgettable experience because they climbed all over the car, ate apples and bananas, and threw all kinds of things at us. They seemed very unfriendly.
Anyway, we went on our way to the lions’ place where we had to lock ourselves in the car as we knew lions could be dangerous. A lion came up very close to us. Then it was on the bonnet (车盖). It looked calm but we felt terrified. Aunt Emily, who isn’t very brave, started to call for help. The kids started crying. Only my brother, George, stayed cool. Last December,I was invited to a party in a company that provides roofing services. I’d never been there before, and I had it in my head that I’d walk in and see men with a smell of metal, asphalt shingles(沥青瓦) and truck oil in the air.But the image I created in my head was far from the truth.
As I walked up to the main entrance of Universal Roofing in Indianapolis,I was greeted by a lovely lady.We didn’t know each other, but she was so welcoming and led me straight to the Grilliant Foods barbeque buffet.
I soon filled my plate and headed for a table populated with people I didn’t know. After several bites, I started meeting my fellow table mates: a mix of a retired employee, a customer, and a partner, all of whom were talking about how long they had known Rob,who was the owner of the company, and the pleasant experiences of working with him. I personally was most impressed with the retired employee at the table. He was back and enjoying himself simply because he missed the people.
After lunch I started to walk through the hall.I was impressed with how nicely decorated everything was. From the choice of colors on the walls, the furniture ,and flooring, there was love put into the decoration.
On my walk,I was soon stopped, hugged and thanked for coming by Rob, and his son, Sam. In reality, they hadn’t known me all that long, but there was an unspoken feeling I had—I felt at home.
Later, I visited their website. “Rob treats everyone who works for him like family,” reads the website. Actually, he treats everyone like family, and because of that, everyone around him treats the people they encounter like family. It’s what has made him so successful in business and in life.

Until a few weeks ago, Asians were the only mask (口罩) wearers in Western countries, causing even unfriendly responses from the Westerners. But this taboo (禁忌) is falling apart fast after more and more evidences from experiments say that the practice in effective in protecting human beings from infectious diseases. Now, an increasing number of Western countries, including Italy, France, the United States and Australia, have finally decided to recommend their citizens to wear masks in public places to protect one another from the deadly COVID-19 viruses.
For Western nations: the simple change is really difficult and the debate over the face mask has even developed into a larger discussion over the role of the individual in society. In the West. mask-wearing was seen through an individual’s perspective. It runs like “I am free to decide whether to wear a mask to protect myself or not”. However, in Asia, mask-wearing was seen through a social perspective. It runs like “If all individuals wear masks, the society will be protected”. The logics are fundamentally different and the change would require a big cultural adjustment because mask wearing in public places was even considered “strange and frightening” to the Westerners.
But mask-wearing in public places was also new to the Asians until it was struck by SARS in 2003. After that, mask-wearing has become such a part of daily life that it now plays a role in giving the public a sense of being “protected” in Asia.
“I’m convinced that pretty soon everyone in a Western family will have two or three reusable face masks,” said Jean-Francois Mattéi president of France’s National Academy of Medicine.
32. Who are most likely to wear masks to protect one another?
A. Italians. B. Singaporeans.
C. Americans. D. Australians.
33. What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A. The necessity of mask wearing.
B. The differences between Asia and Europe.
C. The individuals’ role in society.
D. The difficulty of accepting mask wearing.
34. What does Jean Francois Mattéi mean?
A. Westerners will accept mask-wearing soon.
B. Westerners usually love prettier face masks.
C. Westerners really care about the environment.
D. Westerners tend to base their decision on evidence.
35. In which section of a newspaper may this text appear?
A. Advertisement. B. Culture.
C. Politics. D. Environment.
B 33. D 34. A 35. B
根据文章第一段“Until a few weeks ago, Asians were the only mask wearers in Western countries, causing even unfriendly responses from the Westerners.(直到几周前,在西方国家,只有亚洲人戴口罩,甚至引起了西方人的不友好反应)”和第二段“However, in Asia, mask-wearing was seen through a social perspective. It runs like “If all individuals wear masks, the society will be protected”.(然而,在亚洲,戴口罩是从社会角度来看的。
根据文章第二段主旨句“For Western nations: the simple change is really difficult and the debate over the face mask has even developed into a larger discussion over the role of the individual in society.(对于西方国家来说,简单的改变是非常困难的,关于口罩的争论甚至发展成了关于个人在社会中角色的更大的讨论。)”
根据文章第二段“The logics are fundamentally different and the change would require a big cultural adjustment because mask wearing in public places was even considered “strange and frightening” to the Westerners.(这种逻辑是根本不同的,这种改变需要巨大的文化调整,因为在公共场所戴口罩在西方人看来甚至是“奇怪和可怕的”。)”可知,对于西方人来说在公共场所戴口罩这件事情是很难接受的;第三段“But mask-wearing in public places was also new to the Asians until it was struck by SARS in 2003.(但在2003年非典爆发之前,在公共场所戴口罩对亚洲人来说也是一件新鲜事。)” 故选A项。

故填with。
故填to see。
故填who。
故填his。
根据前文“I don't think the boy should thank me and give us (he) name”可知,空处表达的是我也不会告诉你我的名字之意,又本句是否定句,所以应用either表“也”之意。
故填a。
