If you were a superhero, what would your super power be? Would you want to fly or be invisible? Or, perhaps, you'd rather have the power to read minds? Wouldn't that be cool?
Reading minds is not as far-fetched as you might think. In fact, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a wearable device that can actually express a person's thoughts and allow them to talk to a computer—without anyone else hearing.
The device, called AlterEgo, allows a person to control a computer and ask it questions without ever saying one word. When a person wearing the device thinks of a word or a phrase but does not speak it, AlterEgo picks up the neuromuscular(神经肌肉的)signals in the person's jaw and face .AlterEgo sends those signals to a computer, which is programmed to associate them with specific words.
The device is fairly accurate. In a 10-person trial, AlterEgo had the 92 percent transcription (转录) accuracy. Researchers say that number will increase over time.“Our idea was:Could we have a computing platform that's more internal, that combines humans and machines in some ways and that feels like an internal extension(延伸)of our own thought?”Arnav Kapur, a graduate student at the MIT Media Lab said.
So what effect could this have on communication? AlterEgo can change the way humans communicate with computers, allowing us to silently connect with AI assistants such as Amazon's Alexa or Apple's Siri without anyone knowing. If a person is having a conversation and wants to look up a bit of information, they don't have to take out their computer or mobile phone; instead they can just think of the question. AlterEgo will answer without breaking in on the conversation. The device can also help people communicate with their voice in noisy situations, such as on a factory floor or on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
32.Why are the questions raised in Paragraph 1?
    A. To ask readers for their opinions. B. To show the author's curiosity.
    C. To inspire readers' imagination. D. To lead into the topic of the text.

    33. What does the underlined word“them”in Paragraph 3 refer to?
    A.Questions. B.Signals. C.Computers. D.Devices
    34. What's the researchers'attitude toward AlterEgo?
    A.Respectful. B. Worried. C.Positive. D.Unconcerned.
35.What influence will AlterEgo have on people's communication?
    A. People no longer need mobile phones.
    B. People will become a good mind-reader.
    C. People can apply AI assistants skillfully.
    D. People can communicate more smoothly.

An improvement in the immune(免疫)system process would not be a good thing. It would lead to some problems. 36 Don't worry! Here are some basic steps you can take to ensure it is normal and thus functioning.
Get enough sleep. 37 It makes your body easier to get sick, as does an irregular sleep schedule. A single night of only 4 to 5 hours of sleep causes your natural killer cells to drop by 70%.So allow yourself a solid 7 to 9 hours of shut-eye nightly.
Eat well. Fuel your body by eating a wide range of plant-based, fiber-rich, and colorfully varied foods. There is no strong scientific evidence for any specific type of food being linked to better immune function. 38
Keep exercising. Exercise has many benefits. It helps to maintain immune health by getting white blood cells moving through the body. 39 If you're already feeling ill, however, you can continue exercising as long as your symptoms are above the chest. If your conditions are further down, take a break for a few days.
40 .This advice is everywhere these days, but don't stop paying attention to it. Keep washing your hands! It's the simplest and most effective protection against catching unwanted bacteria(细菌). Think about reducing places for bacteria to hide, such as under long fingernails and rings.
    A. Practice good health habits.
    B. Bury your bad habits in the water.
    C. You might want it to function normally.
    D. It brings feelings of well-being and happiness.
    E. Little sleep is like a giant welcome mat for illnesses.
    F. Focus on getting your nutrition from whole foods instead.
    G. You are going to be good at containing and fighting it off.

    阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容或括号内单词的正确形式。
“How are you?” It’s a question that seems simple, but it can actually make people feel very strange.
Last month, Alina Simone 61 (write) in The New York Times about the difficulty that Russians have with this question. This same question, in Russian language and culture, is always answered 62 a negative way. In Russia, when people are asked “How are you?”, they usually complain about health, weather or things 63 have happened recently. So when they’re asked “How are you?” in English, they don’t know what to do.
In English-speaking 64 (country), “How are you?” has one standard answer: “Fine, and you?” That’s because “How are you?” is not actually about getting information—it’s a greeting. If a native English-speaking friend really wants to know 65 is going on in your life, he or she is more likely 66 (ask): “What have you been up to?” or “What’s new?”
But I understand why people are so 67 (confuse). When we learn second languages, we have to learn rules for using words as much as words 68 (them). How can you learn those rules? 69 (watch) English-language TV shows is a good place to start. If you can, try to make a native English-speaking friend and talk to him or her
    70 (direct).

    书面表达范文
    Dear John ,
How happy to hear from you! Knowing that you are interested in my winter vacation arrangements, I am now writing to share some with you.
Reuniting with my family, relatives and friends comes to the top of the list because, as you know, Spring Festival means getting together, eating big dinners and having fun with our beloved ones. Meanwhile, apart from finishing the homework given by all my teachers, I also plan to read my favorite novels or watch several exciting films, such as Harry Porter series, which are my hobbies, but I can only spare time for them in holidays.
What about your recent plans?Looking forward to your reply.

W: I’m looking for a dress to wear to a wedding. Most of the red dresses I’m seeing here are all above the knee. I’d like something longer.
M: We have this green one here, or this blue and yellow one.
W: I like that last one you mentioned. Where are the dressing rooms?
    Text 4
M: What’s the weather like in your country?
W: It’s very humid. It rains nine months of the year.
M: My country is dry. We have very little rain. But when it rains, we have terrible thunderstorms and sometimes hurricanes.
    Text 5
M: I’m so surprised that you got the highest score on the test this time.
W: I studied hard, Mr. Wang. I wanted to prove I could do well.
M: Good job! You’re in the top five now. Your parents will be proud.
    Text 6
    W: Today is April 22.
    M: Uh. Happy birthday!
W: No. It’s Earth Day. It’s a special day for everyone to think about how to help protect the earth’s environment.
M: So what are you going to do? Plant a tree?
W: I bought a bus pass so I can go to work by bus instead of driving my car.
M: Great! Where can I get a bus pass?
W: Just go over to the transportation office.
    Text 7
M: You have a beautiful voice, Mary! Where did you learn to sing?
W: Mrs Smith teaches me singing lessons. She just lives next door to me.
M: Sound great! I want my little daughter, Sally, to learn how to sing. She loves music.
W: You should take her to Mrs. Smith. Or you can take her to the music school downtown. It’s near our company. They teach singing lessons and guitar, piano and violin lessons. I always wanted to play the piano. It sounds very pretty.
M: Great, I will go there and see what classes they have for children. Sally would love to learn music with other kids. Thank you for your help.
    Text 8
W: You seem a little unhappy. What’s up?
M: Nothing. Sometimes, I just feel bored.
W: Are you in any clubs at school?
M:Yes, I’m in the science club. But you know, it’s not very interesting.
W: Well, how about the drama club? There are many students interested in this club.
M: Why is it so attractive?
W: It is a great challenge to perform on the stage. And if you got a chance to act in a drama, you would be a star in the college.
M: Wow, you would be a big shot sooner or later if you join the drama club.
W: Stop joking. You are tall and smart. There will be more chances for you to become a star in campus drama.
M: Thank you. Maybe I will join it.
    Text 9
W: Hello, Tom Thompson. Come in and sit down.
    M: Thanks.
W: Tom, as we explained earlier, in this part of the interview we would like to talk about your application form.
    M: I see.
W: So, was your first degree in Business Studies?
M: Yes, but I also majored in Educational Science and Tourist Management.
W: And you graduated in 2012?
M: Yes, then I worked as a volunteer in a primary school. I was there for about three years in total from April 2013. Then I left.
W: What kind of organization was it?
M: It was a voluntary organization, called Asian Cross.
W: And what did you teach?
M: A variety of subjects in different areas. I did mainly math and some English. Then in my final year, I took on some music.
    W: That sounds great.
    Text 10
W: Sometimes it takes many years for diseases to be found. Now there is a way to look for them before someone is feeling sick. Some illnesses can be found and treated very early by having a body scan. Body scans allow doctors to look into a person’s body. They can see the inner body. By looking into a person’s body like this, doctors can sometimes see how healthy a person is.
People that have a family history of illness might want to have a body scan. Others that are young and healthy would probably not need one. Some people have body scans because it makes them feel more secure. Many doctors do not think everyone should have body scans. Body scans are expensive. They are often not necessary. Sometimes body scans can be wrong. When this happens it can cause a lot of unnecessary worry.
Body scans can be very useful to doctors and patients. They can help find diseases at early stages. If diseases are found early they can be treated more easily. It would be a good idea to talk to a doctor before spending money on one.
