Step 1 Warm up
Play a game “I say, you say”
I say: I’m a teacher, you say: I’m a student.
I think, I’ m a lovely teacher.
I like eating fish.
Australia is an interesting country.
I love koalas.
I don’t like Australian football.
Class begins, boys and girls.
Step 2 Revision
- Lead in: Just now, we mentioned Australia. You’ve learned sth. about this
country, what do you think of Australia?
T: Australia is a/an country.
- What is interesting in Australia? 学生试着说一说,再集体讨论,尽量让学
生说几句话。说说interesting 的理由。
Discuss: people, season, sport, cities, animals, interesting places...
- Learn Sound time (cities)
1) Look over there, It’s Sydney in Australia. The...
The students read the sentences freely. Pay attention to “fresh, view”.
Do you know the sound of the letters “air”? (学生自己发现)
They are pronounced /eə / (板书)
2) Let’s read in an interesting way. 加节奏
3) Try to read: stair, airway, airport
- The cities in Australia are interesting, and the animals are interesting, too. They are... and... Can you introduce them for us?
Step 3 Culture time
- Lead in: There’re many interesting places. Like: Sydney Opera House, Gold
Coast, the Great Barrier Reef. (板书)
- Interesting places are in interesting countries. What other interesting countries
do you know?引导学生说出the UK, the US, China. (板书)
- What interesting places do you know in the US? (板书the Yellowstone
National Park)
The White House (the president lives and works in it), the Statue of Liberty (the symbol of freedom and the country), Harvard University.
- How about in the UK? (板书the Stonehenge)
Do you know any other interesting places?
Tower Bridge, Big Ben, London Eye, Oxford University, 引导说说英国的交通People drive on the left side of the road.
- Someone says China is a really interesting country, that’s true. There are
many interesting places in China. For example:
The Great Wall, Palace Museum, the Bund, the Changjiang river, the West Lake, Mount Huang, Terra Cotta Warriors. (板书the Great Wall)
China is a big and old country. It’s our homeland. We should love it.
- Places are interesting, but not all. The food is interesting, too. Look! Here is
much nice food. What countries are they from?
Step 4 Cartoon time
- Lead in: Do you like eating the nice food? Me, too.
Look, Billy likes the food, too. He is a foodie. What does he want to be? A cook.
- What will he cook?
Will he cook...? (Look at the pictures)
Who will he cook for?
- Is he successful at last? Watch the cartoon and answer.
Ss: No. T: Why do you think so?

4. Why isn’t Billy a good cook? 学生说, pay attention to Picture 2. He just thinks what he wants to do, but he doesn’t do it, doesn’t practice. He just wants to be an armchair strategist. So if we have a dream, we have to do it. 有梦想就要付诸行动。 Do things with all your heart. 做一件事要一心一意。
5. Happy reading. Now, let’s read with all our heart. Try to read the story loudly, correctly and vividly (生动地).

教学反思:
从选课题到确定课题,期间犹豫过,因为有好多选择,但最终定了这一课是因为本单元这个话题确实能够开阔孩子们的眼界。而第三课时涉及到文化部分,这需要学生做好充分的预习准备,迫使他们认认真真地为一件事去努力,这样可以使他们的学习能力真正得到提升。
本课涉及了三个版块:Sound time, Culture time 和Cartoon time。Sound time是学习字母组合air的发音,由于它对于学生来说掌握比较简单,且没有其它因素的干扰,所以在处理的时候没有放太多的时间,而是让学生自己读,悟,并输出,从课堂表现来看,学生掌握得不错。
其次是Culture time的学习,与其说学习还不如说是汇报,因为在课前已经让学生预习过,并让他们围绕这几个景点查找资料,小组课前交流学习了,所以学生在课堂上表现并无障碍,还能说出老师也未必知道的信息,这一点对于这节课来说是一个很大的亮点。
Cartoon time本身是要体现学生自主阅读的过程,因此在课堂上老师也只是提了几个抛砖引玉的问题,让孩子带着问题愉快地欣赏动画,在这期间留给孩子独立思考的空间,最后的问题学生反应也是多种多样。表演部分创意很多,结尾加得都各有特色。
给孩子一个思考的空间,他们会还你一个精彩的展现。
