For almost two months Dominic York, a 23-year-old hairdresser, wandered about hospitals all night, wearing a white coat and pretending he was a doctor. Yesterday he proudly claimed in court that despite his complete lack of medical experience or qualifications, he had saved several people's lives. He had even been allowed to assist a surgeon during an emergency operation on a patient who was about to die on something she had swallowed.

“I watched one of those TV dramas about a hospital and suddenly I felt like playing one of the roles myself. “He looked very professional. He told me his name was Doctor Simon. Then he gave me some sort of injection." she said. And then he suddenly cleared off when a nurse asked who he was. She didn't think there was anything wrong. "I would never have realized he was a fake if a policewoman hadn't showed me his photograph a week later. When the policewoman told me who he really was, I could hardly believe my ears.”

Judge Raymond Adams told York that he was "shocked and horrified,, that he got away with his deceiving欺骗for so long, and then sentenced him to eighteen months in a special prison for criminal with mental disorders.

The baby is just one day old and has not yet left hospital. She is quiet but alert 警觉).Twenty centimeters from her face researchers have placed a white card with two black spots on it. She stares at it carefully. A researcher removes the card and replaces it by another, this time with the spots differently spaced. As the cards change from one to the other, her gaze 凝视starts to lose its focus until a third, with three black spots, is presented. Her gaze returns; she looks at it for twice as long as she did at the previous card. Can she tell that the number two is different from three, just 24 hours after coining into the world?

Or do newborns simply prefer more to fewer? The same experiment, but with three spots shown before two, shows the same return of interest when the number of spots changes. Perhaps it is just the newness? When slightly older babies were shown cards with pictures of objects (a comb, a key, an orange and so on), changing the number of objects had an effect separate from changing the objects themselves. Could it be the pattern that two things make, as opposed to three? No again. Babies paid more attention to squares moving randomly on a screen when their number changed from two to three, or three to two. The effect even crosses between senses. Babies who were repeatedly shown two spots became more excited when they then heard three drumbeats than when they heard just two; likewise 同样地when the researchers started with drumbeats and moved to spots.

Everything, from clothes to drinks, was promoted with clever methods such as repetition of the firm's name or product, words organized in eye-catching patterns, the use of pretty pictures and expressions easy to remember.

Near the end of the nineteenth century, companies that were devoted to the production of ads came to be known as ""advertising agencies 广告商The agencies developed new ways to get people to think of themselves as members of a group. Kids' health: Four steps for fighting stress

Everybody gets stressed from time to time. 36 Some ways of dealing with stress --- like screaming or hitting someone ---don't solve 解决much. But other ways, like talking to someone you trust, can lead you to solving your problem or at least feeling better.

Try taking these four steps the next time you are stressed:

    (1)               Get support. When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent or other relatives. 37 They might have had similar problems, such as dealing with a test, or the death of a beloved pet.

    (2)               Don5t take it out on yourself. Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset, they take it out on themselves. Oh, dear, that's not a good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you. Don9t take it out on yourself. 38

    (3)               Try to solve the problem. After you're calm and you have support from adults and friends, ifs time to get down to business. 39 Even if you can't solve it all, you can solve a piece of it.

    (4)               Be positive. Most stress is temporary 暂时的).Remember stress does go away, especially when you figure out the problem and start working on solving it.

These steps aren't magic, but they do work. And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a tough time, you'll help yourself feel better even faster. 40

    1.    Ask for a helping hand to get you through the tough situation.
    2.   Notice your friends5 feelings and find a way to help them.
    3.    Different people feel stress in different ways.
    4.    Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone.
    5.    You need to figure out what the problem is.
    6.   And don't forget about your friends.
    7.   Then, find a way to calm down.
