课前准备:Tape recorder, Multimedia
教学过程:
Step 1. Warm-up
1. Greetings
(1) say hello to the students when they enter the classroom. Sing Let’s take a picture, you and me.. Review the content that has been learned so far. Look at what the students in Beijing can say. What about the the Palace museum? What are Jenny and Danny seeing the people in the park doing?
(2) the teacher pretended to take a photograph, and asked: What am I doing? Students should answer: Taking a picture.
2. text introduction
Let the students open twenty-sixth pages of the textbook. Tell them that we are going to learn the wonders of the world today - the Great Wall. They also learn to follow the safety rules that need to be followed in the city.
Step 2. Presentation
1. On the Great Wall
(1) say: Open your book to page 26, Part 1. pointing to each picture, ask: What is this? What are they.
(2) now, play the tape and read it.
(3) let three students read the dialogue aloud.
2. Read and answer
Teacher: Where are Danny, Jenny and Li Ming?
Students: On the Great Wall.
Teacher: How old is the Great Wall?
Students: It’s about 2000 years old.
Teacher: How long is it?
Students: It’s about 6000 kilometres.
Teacher: Well done! Thank you.
3. On the way back
(1) to use vocabulary cards to teach feel, tired, stop, wait, afraid. Display each card and say the word, and make the corresponding action. Write the words in large letters on the black and read aloud. Point to each word and let a student stand up and read.
(2) Write Be careful when you cross the street on the blackboard. Read the sentences and let the students follow. Ask the student why Danny is afraid.
(3) now, play the tape and read.
4. demo
Demonstrate tired with action. The teacher can pretend to make a big yawn and cover his mouth with his hand. When it comes to this action, say I am tired. Let the students repeat the sentence.
Demonstrate afraid with action. Make an exaggerated facial expression and wave your arms. When the teacher does this action, say I am afraid. let the student repeat the sentence.
5. practice
Divide the whole class into groups. Let them take out their pencils and coloured crayons. Each group makes a sign and writes a sentence below:
Be careful when you cross the street.
Wait at the traffic lights.
Stop and look before you cross the street.
Step 3.Practice
Let’s do it!
1. Read Part1 and Part 2. Ask and answer.
The whole class is divided into two groups. Turn to the 27 page of the book and see the first activity. To explain to the students. They need to read the first and second parts of the text, and then take turns to answer the five questions.
Answer: a. They take a bus to go to the Great Wall.
b. It’s about 2000 years old.
c. It’s about 6000 kilometres.
d. He feels tired and hungry.
e. Yes, he is.
2. Look and write.
Students need to observe the pictures and use the information in the picture to complete the words in the four sentences.
The answer: a. tired; b. wait; c. afraid; d. stop.
3. Talk more about Beijing.
Let the students look at the content below in page twenty-seventh. Take a few minutes to discuss the four pictures. These are places that can be seen in Beijing. Students can use these pictures to talk about more of the situation in Beijing.
Before the students begin to discuss, teachers can provide more examples, such as lots of people, many cars, the subway…

Help the students to find the exercises that need to be done.
