The reasn why the pnies here are naughty is that Haytr is a turist-heavy area and turists are cnstantly feeding the pnies fds, despite sighs asking them nt t. By feeding the pnies, turists increase the risk f them getting hit by a car, and make them harder t gather during the area’s annual pny drift(迁移).

Sme f them are als later sld, in rder t limit the number f pnies accrding t the rules set by Natural England.

Dartmr has 1,000 r s pnies, wh play a critical rle in creating the diversity f species in this area. Many peple are wrking hard t preserve these pnies, and trying t cme up with plans t find a sustainable(可持续的) future fr ne f Dartmr’s mst financially-trubled elements.

The ddness f life in space never quite ges away .Here are sme examples.
First cnsider smething as simple as sleep. Its psitin presents its wn challenges. The main questin is whether yu want yur arms inside r utside the sleeping bag. If yu leave yur arms ut, they flat free in zer gravity, ften giving a sleeping astrnaut the lk f a funny ballet(芭蕾) dancer. ”I’m an inside guy.” Mike Hpkins says, wh returned frm a six-mnth tur n the Internatinal Space Statin.”I like t be wrapped up.”
On the statin ,the rdinary becmes strange .The exercise bike fr the American astrnauts has n handlebars. It als has n seat. With n gravity, it’s just as easy t pedal vilently. Yu can watch a mvie while yu pedal by flating a micrcmputer anywhere yu want. But statin residents have t be careful abut staying in ne place t lng. Withut gravity t help circulate air, the carbn dixide yu exhale(呼气) has a tendency t frm an invisible(隐的) clud arund yur head. Yu can end up with what astrnauts call a carbn-dixide headache.
Lery Chia, 54, an American retired astrnaut after fur flights, describes what happens even befre yu flat ut f yur seat. “Yur inner car thinks yu’re falling Meanwhile yur eyes are telling yu yu’re standing straight. That
can be annying——that’s why sme peple feel sick.” Within a cuple f days——truly terrible days fr sme——astrnauts’ brains learn t ignre the panicky signals frm the inner ear, and space sickness disappears.
Space traver can be t delightful but at the same time invisibly dangerus. Fr instance, astrnauts lse bne mass. That’s why exercise is cnsidered s vital that Natinal Aernautics and Space Administratin (NASA) puts it right n the wrkday schedule. The fcus n fitness is as much abut science and the future as
it is abut keeping any individual astrnaut healthy. NASA is wrried abut tw things: recvery time nce astrnauts return hme, and, mre imprtantly, hw t maintain strength and fitness fr the tw and a half years r mre that it wuld take t make a rund-trip t Mars.
63.What is the majr challenge t astrnaut weather sleep in space?

C. they exercise in ne place fr a lng time.

A .they senses stp wrking.
B. they have t stand up straight.

Science has a lt f uses. It can uncver laws f nature, cure diseases, make bmbs, and help bridges t stand up. Indeed science is s gd at what it des that there’s always a temptatin(诱惑) t drag it int prblems where it may nt be helpful. David Brks, authr f The Scial Animal: The Hidden Surces f Lve, Character, and Achievement, appears t be the latest in a lng line f writers wh have failed t resist the temptatin.
Brks gained fame fr several bks. His latest bk The Scial Animal, hwever, is mre ambitius and serius than his earlier bks. It is an attempt t deal with a set f weighty tpics. The bk fcuses n big questins: What has science revealed abut human nature? What are the surces f character? And why are sme peple happy and successful while thers aren’t?
T answer these questins, Brks surveys a wide range f disciplines(学科). Cnsidering this, yu might expect the bk t be a dry recitatin f facts. But Brks has structured his bk in an unrthdx(非常规的), and perhaps unfrtunate, way. Instead f intrducing scientific theries, he tells a stry, within which he tries t make his pints, perhaps in rder t keep the reader’s attentin. S as Harld and Erica, the her and herine in his stry, live thrugh childhd, we hear abut the science f child develpment and as they begin t date we hear abut the thery f sexual attractin. Brks carries this thrugh t the death f ne f his characters.
On the whle, Brks’s stry is acceptable if uninspired. As ne wuld expect, his writing is mstly clear and, t be fair, sme chapters stand ut abve the rest. I enjyed, fr instance, the chapter in which Harld discvers hw t think n his wn. While Harld and Erica are certainly nt strng r memrable characters, the mre serius prblems with The Scial Animal lie elsewhere. These prblems partly invlve Brks’s attempt t translate his tale int science.
67. The authr mentins the functins f science at the beginning f the passage t__________.
A. illustrate where science can be applied
B. demnstrate the value f Brks’s new bk
C. remind the reader f the imprtance f science
D. explain why many writers use science in their wrks
68. Accrding t the authr, which f the fllwing culd be a strength f the bk?
A. Its strng basis.
B. Its cnvincing pints.
C. Its clear writing.
D. Its memrable characters.
69. What is the authr’s general attitude twards the bk?
A. Cntradictry.
B. Supprtive.
C . Cautius.
D. Critical.
70. What is the authr likely t write abut after the last paragraph?
A. Prblems with the bk.
B. Brks’s life experience.
C. Death f the characters.
D. Brks’s translatin skills.

Questining can lead t searching fr an answer. If we are in the habit f raising dubts as t whether what we are tld is true, we can find the crrect answer and learn mre.

Thinking that his slutin might be wrng, I carefully analyzed the prblem and tried t wrk it ut in a different way. Half an hur later, I managed t find the crrect answer. When I shwed my answer t him, the teacher praised me fr my independent thinking.
