    Have yu heard abut Qufu? Hw much have yu learnt abut it?·Yes. Qufu has mre than 2,500 years f histry. Best knwn as the hmetwn f China's "first sage" Cnfucius, it was the hme f f his descendants — wh ften ruled the place as feudal rulers - fr many centuries.
    Befre yu listen,lk at sme phts f Qufu. What can yu say abut these places?
    Temple f Cnfucius:The mst famus and largest temple hnuring the great sage,it is als a UNESCO Wrld Heritage Site. It cvers 16,000 square metres and has 460 rms. The main part cnsists f nine curtyards with several gates. Dacheng Hall stands at the centre and is the principal place fr ffering sacrifices t Cnfucius. Kng Family Mansin:Lcated t the east f the Temple f Cnfucius,this was the histrical hme f the descendants f Cnfucius frm where they managed sites and ceremnies in Qufu. Tday it is a museum. Cemetery f Cnfucius:This is where Cnfucius and his descendants are buried. There are mre than 10,000 f them,buried here ver 2,000 years. The cemetery has had many renvatins and extensins in its histry.

He’s ne f my favurite philsphers. He was such a wise man. Xia Kng :Oh,yes. I was brn here. In fact,I believe I am a descendant f Cnfucius himself. William: N way,yu’re pulling my leg,right? S hw d yu knw yu’re related t Cnfucius? Didn’t he live ver 2,500 years ag? Xia Kng:Yes,but his family tree is well recrded. He has ver three millin descendants. Srry again,what des“pulling my leg”mean? William: Oh,srry,it means t jke with smene. Anyway,s yu’re actually ging t the temple t pay respects t yur relative? Xia Kng :Well,yes. But I’m als meeting my study grup there. We are ding a research prject n Cnfucius’ ideas n educatin. Yu knw,Cnfucius was a great educatr,and he had many great ideas abut educatin. Fr example,he talked abut the relatin-ship between learning and reflecting. He believed that learning withut reflecting leads t ,lk,the temple is just ver there.

His principles had a great influence n Chinese traditins and beliefs. He believed strngly in strng family lyalty and respect fr thers.     I visited the Mga Caves with my family recently. They are famus fr their amazing paintings and statues. They were cnstructed ver many dynasties and are an imprtant recrd f traditin and belief in China during that time.
