When Ryad Alsous arrived in England, he knew one thing: he wanted to keep bees. The insects had been a major part of his life in Syria, and fleeing his war-tom homeland was a precious certainty amid so much chaos.
As a lecturer at the University of Damascus, Ryad had built a respected reputation for his research on Syrian bees. With over 500 hives, he produced over ten tons of honey every year. Fleeing his country in 2013. he lost everything.
Yet even with all his knowledge and experience, Ryad didn’t know if his dream would be possible in the UK. “I found that there is a lot of rain and the temperature isn’t very high. All the time I was thinking, ‘How can I set up another project here?’”
The wet weather wasn’t Ryad’s only challenge. The language barrier and a vastly overqualified CV made it difficult to find work. Eventually, Ryad volunteered at the Huddersfield Beekeepers’ Association, but he was still without a colony of his own. Finally, Facebook brought him into contact with a woman in Manchester who was willing to donate an entire colony of rare British black bees.
“In one year, I was able to split the colony she gave me into seven. I realized that the beekeeping project could become very profitable and successful in the UK.”
Soon, Ryad found himself with 17 hives, but he wasn’t finished yet. His inner teacher was itching to get out. Through City of Sanctuary, a British refugee charity, Ryad began to run beekeeping workshops for refugees and jobseekers. The Buzz Project was born.
Today, the Buzz Project houses 14 hives, where Ryad shares his expertise. It has started to bear fruit. Last year, they produced half a ton of honey (around 1,000 jars). But for Ryad, the most important thing is bringing people together.
“We have local people, job seekers and volunteers, in addition to refugees. All of them work together doing the same job. The exchange between the groups, the information and skills helps them integrate very well and improve their language skills,” he says.
24. Why did Ryad come to England?
A. To keep bees. B. To seek shelter. C. To do research. D. To run business.
25. What challenge did Ryad meet when he arrived in England?

B. He decided to find a teaching job.
C. He wanted to expand his business.

27. Which can be a suitable title for the text?

China’s disability-related expense at all levels has increased year by year. Last year saw the completion of the National Ice Sports Arena for People With Impairments in light of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. The Games officially opened on March 4, marking not only a great event for the Olympic family, but also the advancement of China’s path for developing the cause of people with disabilities.
Protection of those differently abled in employment, social security, public facilities, and education keeps improving in laws and regulations ensuring the rights and interests of persons with disabilities.
China has 85 million people with disabilities, who need more attention and help—from government and public alike. The possibility of people with disabilities falling back to poverty is high; the total amount of public services for people with physical impairments is not enough and their distribution remains uneven; their diverse needs, such as education, medical services, and recovery, are not adequately met; discrimination, too, still occurs; less developed and rural areas are not suitable for them.
According to the arrangements for the protection and development of people with disabilities during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period issued in July 2021, basic systems providing multi-level social security will be in place by 2025 to ensure the livelihood of this social group continues to improve; by 2035, the differently abled will live a richer material and cultural life, and the gap between them and the average national level will have been remarkably narrowed.
To achieve these goals, the Chinese Government is revising regulations on the employment of those differently abled, aiming to help them live better and more fulfilled lives through their work. In addition, the country is accelerating the upgrading of the social security system, so that the differently abled with unstable income will be included in government aid under China’s social safety net program.
28. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The poverty level of people with disabilities.
B. The uneven distribution of medical services.
C. The problems people with disabilities meet.
D. The growing attention to the differently abled.
29. What can people with disabilities benefit from the 14th Five-Year Plan?
A. A materially satisfying life. B. Basic commercial security.
C. The narrowed gap. D. Improving livelihood.
30. Which can best replace the underlined word “accelerating” in the last paragraph?
A. Quickening. B. Receiving. C. Considering. D. Assessing.
31. What is the author’s attitude towards the growing disability-related expense?
A. Critical B. Favorable. C. Objective. D. Uninterested.

A demonstration mission to test an idea to clean up space debris launched Monday morning local time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Known as ELSA-d, the mission will exhibit technology that could help capture space junk, the millions of pieces of orbital debris that float above Earth.
The more than 8.000 metric tons of debris threaten the loss of services we rely on for Earth-bound life, including weather forecasting. telecommunications and GPS systems.
The spacecraft works by attempting to attach itself to dead satellites and pushing them toward Earth to burn up in the atmosphere.
ELSA-d, which stands for End-of-Life Services by Astroscale, will be carried out by a “servicer satellite” and a “client satellite” that launched together, according to Astroscale, the Japan-based company behind the mission. Using a magnetic docking technology, the servicer will release and try to “date with the client. which will act as a model piece of space junk.
The mission, which will be run from the U.K., will carry out this catch and release process repeatedly over the course of six months. The goal is to prove the servicer satellite’s ability to track down and dock with its target in varying levels of complexity.
The spacecraft is not designed to capture dead satellites already in orbit, but rather future satellites that would be launched with compatible docking plates on them.
According to NASA, cleaning up space—and addressing the risks associated with debris-depend on preventing the accumulation of more waste and actively removing it.
The development of other cleanup technologies has been underway for years. In 2018, a device called RemoveDebris successfully cast a net around a model satellite. The European Space Agency also plans to send a self-destructing robot into orbit in 2025, which the organization’s former director general has referred to as a space “vacuum cleaner”.
These efforts could prove increasingly important as private space ventures like SpaceX continue to fill low Earth orbit with a “mega-constellation” of satellites.
32. What do we know about space junk?
A. It has a potential effect on our daily life.
B. It circles around the earth alongside satellites.
C. It is what astronauts desert in outer space.
D. It has been cleaned up several times so far.
33. What does the author tell us about ELSA-d in paragraph 4?
A. Its achievements in space. B. Its theoretical principle.
C. Its two new satellites. D. Its space mission in orbit.
34. What’s the purpose of designing the spacecraft?
A. Removing existing space junk in orbit. B. Testing docking technology.
C. Sending astronauts into space. D. Capturing satellites to be launched.
35. What is the passage mainly about?
A. ELSA-d’s experimental process. B. Dead satellites floating in orbit.
C. New effort to clean up space junk. D. The application of docking technology.

How exciting! Today is my basketball Grand-final! My team of six enthusiastic boys led by our coach, Jack, has worked extremely hard just to make the finals My heart was pounding a hundred kilometres an hour as I walked into our home ground. As I hurried to our team bench, our opponents caught my attention. They seemed a lot taller and “meaner” looking.
Whistle blew. Five of us started on the court. Our opponent got hold of the ball first. They were unbelievably fast. They kept breaking our defences and kept scoring goals. Excited parents were cheering so much that their faces were as red as beetroots. Even our best, Bryce, could not stop our opponents from scoring. which annoyed him a lot. By half time. both teams were extremely exhausted and our opponents were ten goals ahead, which presented us with an enormous but achievable challenge.
Jack was awfully anxious as we were not playing anywhere near our best. He told us that we could still win if we made our transitions much quicker so that penalty shots came our way. He also directed us to rebound(抢断篮板) and position ourselves better to receive and score goals. Most importantly, he reminded us to play as a team
Our team was all fired up. The second half started in our favour. We were as quick as lightning on the court. We were dribbling (运球), passing, shooting and rebounding without any mistakes. We caught our opponents by surprise. The scores were almost level. We were trailing only by one point. The crowd was growing wild with excitement, fueling our confidence. At the same time, our opponents switched back to attention and started playing like what they did in the first half, making it harder for us to score.
One minute left! Our opponent threw in the ball but I managed to steal it! Our team was bursting with happiness! More opponents were heading my way and I had to pass the ball to Bryce. Instead of passing on the ball, he did the most unexpected thing. He tried to score from half court! He missed by miles!
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

第二部分写作
One possible version:
Then I noticed Jack signaled to the referee for a pause. So we headed towards Jack and gathered around him. Somehow one of teammates began complaining about Bryce. Feeling frustrated and aggrieved, Bryce argued that he just tried to get scores. Jack looked into our eyes, saying. “It is easy to blame someone for mistake, but remember that basketball game is a team effort. We win together or lose together!” So ashamed was Bryce that he promised to keep calm and cooperate.
Whistle blew again and we came back to the court. Though our opponents had possession of the ball, I stole it once again and passed it to Bryce. Finding he got double teamed, Bryce managed to pass the ball to one of us. He shot. Yes! We made it! The final buzzer rang! We screamed with excitement and hugged together. Since this memorable basketball match, we have been ready for every battle. There is no limit to what we can accomplish as long as we play a team.

There’s no need to do sth, 意思是“没有必要做某事”,此处容易误用动词ing形式,need作为动词表示需 要可以跟动词 ing形式,主动形式表示被动意义,即 need doing=need to be done。
根据常识结合前面one hand,就应该是另一只手,用定冠词the, one...the other表示“一个……另一个……”。句意是:给自己或者他人倒茶的正确方法是倒水时一只手拿着茶壶手柄,另一只手按压盖子。

63. is said考查谓语动词的时态和语态。根据句子的结构看出是谓语动词,前面的Turning over a whole fish 7 after eating one side of it 是动名词作主语,because引导原因状语从句,主语与say之间是动宾关系,所以被动语态, 从整个文章时态的使用可以确定用一般现在时的被动语态形式。故填is said,意思是“据说”,sb. is said to do...可以转换成句型 it is said that sb.
