In a sudden wave of bravery, Maya asked, “What’s it like being in a wheelchair?” “It helps me get around,” Joan said simply. 【原文】M:My job is model-making. I make small copies of large buildings. I did a college course, not in art or architecture as you might expect, but in woodwork. Because it requires you to concentrate on fine detail, it was ideal for a model-maker. I’ve done quite a few jobs now. Generally, I don’t see my models again after I’ve delivered them.80% of them are shipped out to Japan and Canada, with the rest shared between England and France. My most recent project was a model of an old house in Ireland. It was burnt down years before. The original building was gone, and there were no old photos to use. But the owner of the house gave me detailed drawings to work from. It took longer than any model I had ever done before, mainly because I had to do all of the 152 windows-a real test of patience! Doing things like the statues along the front was enjoyable. But I spent some difficult hours coloring the walls. When I had finished that process, I knew the hardest part was over. My customer was very pleased with the model.
