让学生回想一下他们找信息的方法，由此呈现常见的几种方法，然后引入在网上搜集信息这一方法。请会用电脑的学生与大家分享上网的知识。重点学习如何上网搜集信息，可以设置小组讨论、播放视频、归纳总结等活动。最后设置上网搜集有关中国食物食谱的练习，让学生实际操练。操练时，注意规定时间限制，然后让他们口头或书面汇报自己找到的有用网站。可以以问题的形式，提示学生要汇报的方面。最后把这些有用的网址制作成一个名录或在教室墙壁上进行展示，增强学生的参与感和成就感。

教学过程

Step 1 Warming up

1. Ask the students a question about finding some information.

T: What do you usually do when you want to find some information?

2. Show some pictures to help them answer.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Tell the students that when they want to find information, they can have many different ways:

（1）Ask people: your friends, parents, neighbours, teachers, etc.

（2）Use your eyes: look at the world around you and think about it.

（3）Read the newspapers, magazines and books. Go to libraries.

（4）Use the Internet.

2. Let them discuss the four ways in groups.

3. Ask some groups to tell their opinions. 

4. Let some students who are good at using computers share their knowledge with the class.

5. Remember to tell them that all four methods have their advantages and disadvantages.

Step 3 Reading and learning

1. Ask the students to read the method of using the Internet on page 89.

2. In groups, ask them to discuss how to search things.

3. Play a video about how to search things.

4. Summarise: use a search engine—home page—type some important words—see a list of websites—find useful information

5. Ask them if they have any problem about finding information on the Internet.

Step 4 Practice

1. Ask the students to use a search engine to find information about Chinese food recipes.

2. Set a limit on the time that the students have to spend on this assignment. This can make sure that they don’t waste time using the Internet and fail to find anything useful.

3. Let them tell the class about some useful websites that they find. They can give an oral or written report to the class about one website about Chinese food recipes.

4. The report could include answers to basic questions such as:

（1）What is the website address?

（2）Is the site easy to use?

（3）What language is it in? Is this language easy to understand?

（4）Is it for children or adults?

（5）What can we see there?

（6）Who made this website?

5. Make this into a class directory or wall display with the students.

Step 5 Homework

Find some information about ways to keep healthy on the Internet.
