设计说明 与学生交谈他们遇到生词时怎样处理,由此导入词典的使用,询问学生对词典的了解情况,这样能够更加明确讲解的重点。首先,向学生展示词典的两页,让学生看图并发现词典编写的顺序——按字母顺序。为后续讲解做好铺垫。接下来,结合实际单词向学生讲解每一页上的引导词,并教会学生推断其他单词在哪一页上。做练习,引导学生掌握如何查词典。另外,通过结对练习,让学生自主解答问题,创设更好的学习情境。最后,可以根据词典页设置习题,检验学生是否已经学会使用词典。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 学习使用词典。 2.能力目标 能够看懂词典一页的基本标注,并能根据字母顺序大致预判临近单词所在的页码。 3.情感目标 锻炼学生提出问题,解决问题的能力。 重点难点 重点:学习使用词典。 难点:能够看懂词典一页的基本标注,并能根据字母顺序大致预判临近单词所在的页码。 教学准备 PPT课件;词典页图片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up Ask the students some questions about dictionaries. You can start like this: What do you often do if you don’t know the meanings of words? Do you have a dictionary? Do you know when to use a dictionary? Do you know how to use a dictionary?
Step 2 Look and find 1. Show the students a page of a dictionary. 2. Ask the students to look and answer: How are the words in a dictionary put? 3. Check the answer. Answer: In alphabetical order.
Step 3 See and learn 1. Show the students a page of a dictionary. 2. Tell the students “guide words”: Guide words are always at the top of the pages. The one at the top-left corner tells you the first word on the left page. The one at the top-right corner tells you the last word on the right page. 3. Teach the students to find a word by using an example: T: Is the word “level” on page 206 or page 207? 4. Help the students to find the word by analyzing together: The first word on page 206 is ‘lemon’ (guide word). The first word on page 207 is ‘lever’. So the word ‘level’ is on page 206. 5. Ask the students what dictionaries tell us about words besides their meanings. Let the students look at their dictionaries to find answers: e.g., spelling, pronunciation, part of speech.
Step 4 Practice 1. Tell the students to find the words on page 206 of the dictionary. (1)Write down the guide word on page 206 of the dictionary. (2)Write down the guide word on page 207 of the dictionary. (3)Write down the numbers of the pages on which you could find these words: library ; less ; license ; lesson (4)Would you find these words before or after pages 206 and 207? leg ; lift ; line ; leaf 2. Step 5 Ask and answer 1. Ask the students to do pair work. Let the students find a page of a dictionary. Ask and answer questions like this: S1: Tell me the guide words. S2: … S1: Is the word…on page…or page…? S2: … S1: Tell me the numbers of the pages on which you could find these words:… S2: … S1: Can you find these words… before or after pages…and…? S2:… 2. Walk around the class. Provide help if necessary.
