设计说明 首先通过观看一个视频导入新课,然后学习一些有关DIY的词,掌握这些生词后对课文进行跳读、寻读和细读,然后通过练习掌握文章中出现的一些重要知识点,并围绕这些知识点展开一系列的练习进行巩固。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握词汇:crazy, terrible, once, mistake, pipe, fill, ceiling, shelf, whoops, advise, course, already, instead, attend, be crazy about, put in, power cut, a brighter light, make a mistake, put up a picture, fill…with…, not only…but (also), advise sb. to do…, take a course in…, attend lessons 2.能力目标 (1)学会DIY的相关词汇。 (2)阅读并能理解文章内容,完成相关的练习。 (3)培养并增强学生的DIY意识。 3.情感目标 学习DIY知识,培养学生的创造力和提高自己动手创造美好生活的能力。 重点难点 重点:DIY的相关词汇,理解文章内容 难点:灵活使用生词、短语和重要知识点 教学准备 PPT课件;相关图片及视频 授课时数 2课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in Show two pictures and ask some questions. Question: What can we do with leaves? Answer: We can use leaves to make bookmarks. Question: What can we do with strings? Answer: We can use strings to make Chinese knots. Question: What can we do with flour and eggs? Answer: We can use flour and eggs to make cakes or cookies. Question: What can we do with paper? Answer: We can use paper to make kites. Step 2 Presentation 1. Show them some pictures and present some new words. (1) decorate vt. I decided to decorate my flat as soon as possible. (2) wall n. My walls are too old. I want to paint them yellow. (3) ceiling n. I think my ceiling is boring so that I want to change another one just like a blue sky. (4) pipe n. I bought a pipe to repair my leaky (漏水的) bathroom. (5) shelf (pl. shelves) n. I have too many books; maybe three shelves are enough. (6) repair vt. My door is broken and I have to repair it. (7) mistake (短语: make a mistake) n. I wanted a brighter light but I made a mistake that I bought a blue LED-light. (8) terrible adj. My bedroom looks terrible. (9) advise vt.&vi.; advice n. I know nothing about DIY. My friend Suzy advised me to find her cousin Andrew for advice. (10) attend vt.&vi. I not only want to find Andrew for help but also attend some DIY lessons. 2. Read the new words after the teacher, and then read by themselves. 3. Try to remember the new words. Step 3 Reading 1. Pre-reading (1) Match B1 on page 45. Match the words on the left with the meanings on the right. Then check the answers. Answers: 1d 2e 3a 4b 5f 6c (2) Predicting Before reading, ask the following question and let students predict. What is the passage about? A. Andrew did a good job. B. Andrew likes hitting the wall. C. The story of Andrew and his DIY. D. How to DIY? Answer: C 2. Reading 1.Try to find the structure of the passage by reading the passage quickly. Answers: Introduction of Andrew Para. 1 Andrew’s DIY jobs Paras. 2-4 Advice for Andrew Para. 5 2. B2 on page 45. Suzy’s cousin is not very good at DIY. Match the jobs he did with the problems he caused. Answers: 1c 2b 3d 4a 3. Listening Listen to Paragraph 2 and complete the blanks. Write a T if a sentence is true or an F if it is false and try to correct the mistakes. Give students two minutes to finish the exercises. Then check the answers with them. Answers: 1-6 TTFFFF 6. Retell (1) Give students a mind map about Andrew’s DIY jobs and some key words to help them retell. (2) Give them 2 minutes to prepare to retell. (3) Show time. Choose some of them to retell the story about Andrew. 7.Group work (1) Show a picture of the flat and divide the students into four groups. (2) Give them 2 minutes to discuss how to decorate the flat. Conclusion (1) Give a summary about new words, phrases and sentences that appear in this period. Help them remember them. (2) Reading skills ①Predict the main idea (title or picture). ②Skimming (略读): Read fast to know the main idea. ③Scanning (扫读): Read to locate the information and more details (细节). You should have some questions in your mind and then find out the answers in the passage. Step 4 Consolidation 1. B4 on page 46. Fill in the blanks according to the text. 2. Read and finish the form.
