    Unit 7  Films Comic Strip & Welcome to the unit

    设计说明

    首先通过自由会话谈论自己的爱好,以电影导入新课,然后学习一些电影种类的词,学会用一些单词和短语来谈论不同类型电影的特点,由此开展对话。通过HoboEddie的对话,提出本单元所涉及的话题,让大家对本单元产生兴趣。最后通过练习来巩固本课时的内容。

    教学目标

    通过本课时的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    掌握单词和短语:superstar, romantic, western, industry, storyteller, script, in your dreams, so…that, action film, science fiction, such…that

    2.能力目标

    (1)认识并能使用表示各类电影的词汇;

    (2)能够简单谈论电影和电影工作者。

    3.情感目标

    让学生了解电影艺术的一些方面,丰富业余生活。

    重点难点

    重点:学习并能灵活使用表示各类电影的单词和短语

    难点:谈论电影和电影工作者

    教学准备

    PPT 课件;相关图片。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Lead-in

    Free talkWhat is your hobby? Do you like watching films?

    Step 2  Presentation  

    1. Show the students some pictures and present different kinds of films.

    Let them read the words and describe different kinds of films.

    science fiction filmimaginative story about the past or    

    the future

     

    cartoonfilm using pictures or models that appear to move

    2. Sandy has found some pictures of different types of films. Help her write the

    correct name under each picture.

    Step 3  Practice

    1. Ask them to talk about different types of films. Make up similar dialogues.  

    A: What type of film do you like best?

    B: I like…best.

    A: Why do you like it?

    B: Because …

    2. Show some description and ask them to guess what type of film it is.

    (1) Allen and Sally were classmates at university. After ten years, they see each other again. Do you think they can become lovers?

    (2) The cowboy has just come back from the bar. The man there wants to have a fight with him. Who will be the winner?

    (3) Alice has invited her friends to her house. Miss Rabbit, Mr Cow and Baby Mouse are there. Of course, there is Grandma Turtle, who is always late.

    (4) In 2150, Mary travels in a time machine and goes back to 2125. She finds her mother, looking just the same as she is. Can she go back to her world?

    Answers: (1) Romantic film  (2) Western  (3) Cartoon  (4) Scientific film

    3. Ask the students Who makes a film?. Present some other new words to them, like actoractress, director, producer, cameraman, make-up artist, scriptwriter, lighting manager.

    4. Listen to the dialogue and ask and answer the following questions.

    (1) Who does Sandy think would be suitable for entering the film industry?

    (2) Why does she think so?

    (3) What would Sandy like to do in the film industry?

    Answers: (1) Millie.

    (2) Because Millie is such a good storyteller that she can write exciting scripts.

    (3) She wants to be a director.

    5. Check the answers. Listen and practice it in pairs. Make up similar dialogues in pairs.

    Step 4  Comic Strip

    1. Ask students to listen to the tape about Hobo and Eddie. Answer the questions.

    (1) Who does Eddie think he is?   

    (2) Does Hobo think so?

    Answers: (1) He thinks he is a TV superstar.

    (2) No, he doesn’t.

    2. Listen and read the dialogue in pairs.

    3. Act it out.

    Step 5  Language points

    1. …I’m so good that I should be in Hollywood instead.

    ……我这么优秀,倒是应该在好莱坞发展。

    so ... that表示“如此……以至于……”,常用于引导结果状语从句。常见结构为“so +形容词/副词+ that从句”或so +形容词+ a/an +单数可数名词+ that从句”。

    He is so young that he can’t go to school. 他太小了不能去上学。

    He walked so fast that I couldn’t follow him. 他走得太快我跟不上。

    2. Millie is such a good storyteller that she can write exciting scripts.

    米莉是一个很会讲故事的人,她能写令人兴奋的剧本。

    such... that表示“如此……以至于……”,常用于引导结果状语从句。常见结构为such + a/an +形容词+单数可数名词+ that从句”或“such +形容词+复数可数名词/不可数名词+ that从句”。

    He has such a beautiful watch that we all like it.

    他的手表非常漂亮,我们都喜欢。

    It’s such fine weather that we’d like to go for a picnic.

    天气很好,我们想出去野餐。

    so... that有时可以和such... that相互转换。

    Mike was so clever a boy that he got the first place in the exam.

    =Mike was such a clever boy that he got the first place in the exam. 

    迈克很聪明,他在考试中得了第一名。

    This problem is so difficult that no one can work it out.

    =This is such a difficult problem that no one can work it out.

    这个问题很难,没人能解得出。

    Step 6  Homework

    1. Revise the content learnt in this lesson.

    2. Preview Reading and finish the exercises on Page 96 and Page 97.
