Greetings. T: Good morning. What’s your name? S: Good morning. Mr/Miss…I am /My name is… 2. Revision Ask the students to greet each other using Hello/Hi/Good morning/Good afternoon/Good evening. Step 2 Listening and reading 1. Play the recording and have them point out the words and phrases in Activity 1. 2. Read after the recording. 3. Match. 1 Good morning. I’m Chen Zhong. a) I’m Lingling. 2 What’s your name, please? b) Fine, thanks. 3 How are you? c) Good morning, Mr Chen. 4. Listen to the recording and check the answers. Answers: 1-c) 2-a) 3-b) 5. Ask the students to practice the conversation in pairs. Step 3 Language points 1. What’s your name, please?请问你叫什么名字? “What’s your name?”用来询问对方姓名,回答时可说“My name’s/My name is...”或“I’m/I am...”。 —What’s your name? 你叫什么名字? —My name is/I am Mary. 我叫玛丽。 【注意】What’s是What is的缩写。 2. Sorry? 对不起,你能再说一遍吗? sorry意为“对不起;很抱歉”,常用于对自己所做的不恰当的或错误的事情表示歉意。但文中的“Sorry?”指因没有听懂对方的问话,要求对方再说一遍而致歉。这时sorry读升调,相当于“Pardon?”。 Sorry, I’m late. 对不起,我迟到了。 —What time is it? 几点了? —Sorry? 对不起,你能再说一遍吗? 3. Can you spell it, please? 请问你能拼写它吗? (1)can情态动词,意为“能;能够”,其否定式为can’t=cannot(不能),它们之后均接动词原形。 I can speak English, but I can’t speak French. 我会说英语,但不会说法语。 —Can you swim? 你会游泳吗?—Yes, I can. 是的,我会。 (2)spell动词,意为“拼写”。当拼写一个单词时,需按顺序将其大写字母一一列出来,注意每个字母之间用连字符“-”连接。 —Spell“pen”,please! 请拼写“钢笔”! —P-E-N, pen. P-E-N,钢笔。 —How do you spell it? 你怎样拼写它? —S-C-H-O-O-L. S-C-H-O-O-L。 4. How are you? 你好吗? How are you? 是英美人见面时常用的寒暄语,是熟人之间询问健康状况时提出的问候,但并不是想深入交谈某人的健康状况,只是一种礼貌的问候方式。其答语为“Fine, thank you.”,意为“我很好,谢谢你”;还可以使用“I’m fine./I’m OK.”等答语。当得到对方“How are you?”的问候时,一般要表示谢意。有时出于礼貌,还要用同样的问候语“How are you?”询问对方。这时的“How are you?”还可简单说成“And you?(你呢?)”。 —How are you, Miss Li? 您好吗,李老师? —Fine, thanks. And you? 很好,谢谢。你呢? —I’m fine too. Thank you. 我也很好,谢谢您。 【注意】第二次回答“How are you?/And you?”时,常用“I’m fine too.”来回答。 5. Fine, thanks. 很好,谢谢您。 fine形容词,意为“很好的;不错的”,在此处指身体好。 I’m fine today. 我今天很好。 【拓展】fine还可指天气“晴朗的”或事物的特点、质量、能力等的“好”。 It’s a fine day today. 今天是个好天气。 【辨析】fine, good与OK
