利用关于春节前，除夕夜以及春节人们经常做的事情的图片，引导学生以对话的形式谈论春节的活动，为学习课文打下基础。根据课文，设置速读、精读，加深学生对课文的理解。学习课文中的重难点知识。引导学生对春节的活动进行写作。最后通过做题，实际运用所学知识。

Step 5  Language points

1. It’s a few days before Spring Festival. 那是在春节前的几天。

before用作介词，意为“在……之前”。before在此表示时间，其反义词是after，意为“在……之后”。

I usually get up before six. 我通常在6点之前起床。

[拓展] before还可以用来表示空间位置，意为“在……前面”，相当于in front of，与behind意思相对。

Who is standing before Miss Li？谁站在李老师的前面？

2. My mother’s cleaning our house and sweeping away bad luck.

我妈妈正在打扫房子，扫除坏运气。

(1) sweep away意为“扫去、扫走”， 是“动词+副词”型短语，如果其后的宾语为名词，可以放在away之前或之后，如果为代词，则代词只能放在sweep和away中间。

Let’s sweep away the leaves. 让我们把树叶扫走吧。

Please sweep it away. 请将它扫掉。   

(2) luck不可数名词, 意为“运气”，bad luck意为“坏运气”，good luck意为“好运气”。

I think it can bring me good luck. 我认为它会给我带来好运。

[拓展] ①lucky形容词，意为“幸运的”。

Nine is my lucky number.  9是我的幸运数字。

②luckily副词，意为“幸运地”。

3. We are celebrating Spring Festival with a traditional family dinner on the evening before Spring Festival.

traditional形容词，意为“传统的”。 其名词形式为tradition，意为“传统”。

4. It means lucky money. 红包的意思是压岁钱。

mean作动词，意为“意思是，意味着”。mean的词形式是meaning, 意为“意思，含义”。

5. Most people are sleeping. 大部分人在睡觉。

most adj. 大部分 (的) ；大多数 (的)

(1) most+名词 (不包括人称代 词) ，泛指多数，无范围。

大多数孩子喜欢吃冰激凌。

(2) “most of + the/ this/ these/ that/ those/ 物主代词＋名词”或 “most of + 代词”，指某一范围以内的多数。

Most of the students in my class are from countryside.

我班里大多数的学生来自农村。

Step 6  Writing

1. Look at the notes about Christmas in Britain. Match the notes with the headings.

(1) Ask the students what they think Christmas is. Talk about the differences

 between Christmas and Spring Festival.

(2) Put the headings“getting ready”“presents”and“traditional things on

 Christmas Day”on the board. You could do a word map with“Christmas”in the first circle and the others in circles attached to it.

(3) Read the list of preparations and traditions and tell the students to decide 

 which heading they belong under on their own.

(4) Ask the students to complete the word map on the board.

Learning to learn

When you write new words, write them under headings, in groups or in a word map. Use pictures and drawings.

(1) Read the“Learning to learn”box and tell the students that there are many 

different ways to learn and record new vocabulary.

(2) Put students in small groups of 3-4 and give them one or two minutes to come 

up with as many different ways as they can think of for learning vocabulary.

2. Write sentences with the notes in Activity 4.

Join two notes and write one sentences with and.

Demonstrate how to join the notes together by giving an example joining ideas under the same heading.

(3) Students read each other’s writing in pairs and help each other correct mistakes.
