Step 1  Warming up

1. Have a free talk like this:

Ask the students to discuss the THINK ABOUT IT questions in groups. Then have the groups share their answers with the class.

1. Ask the students to read the lesson quickly and answer the questions.

2. The doctor took it out! 医生把它切除了。

  take out意为“切除；摘除；带走”,为动副短语, 代词作其宾语时,要放在动词与副词中间; 如果名词作宾语,则放在短语中间或短语之后都可以。

You’d better take it out. 你最好把它摘除。

3. The next day , when I woke up , I felt terrible and very sleepy. 第二天，当我醒来时，我感觉很糟糕，很困。

sleepy形容词,意为“欲睡的,困倦的”。

The warmth from the fire made him feel sleepy.

炉火暖洋洋的，他感觉昏昏欲睡。

Look at that sleepy child.看那个瞌睡的小孩。

【拓展】sleep可作动词或名词,意为“睡觉;睡眠”,asleep形容词,意为“睡着的,睡熟的”。

The baby is sleeping. 这个婴儿正在睡觉。

He was so sleepy that he fell asleep quickly. 他太困了，很快就睡着了。

plenty of意为“很多；充足的”，可修饰可数名词复数或不可数名词。

(1) now that  意为“既然；由于”。

（2）mention 动词，意为“提到；写到（某人或某事）” ，其后常接名词、代词、动词-ing形式或that/wh-从句；常用结构：mention sth. to sb. 向某人提到某事。

You’d better not mention that matter again.

你最好不要再提那件事。

Did she mention me in her letter?

她在信上提到我了吗？

I hope you didn’t mention my name to your brother.

我希望你没有向你哥哥提到我的名字。

【拓展】Don’t mention it! 不客气！/没关系！

6. I think we should try hard to form good habits so that we can stay healthy and stay away from the hospital! 我认为我们应该努力养成良好的习惯，以便我们能够保持健康，远离医院！

so that意为“以便,为了”,用来引导目的状语从句,常和can, could, may, might等情态动词连用。so that还可用来引导结果状语从句,意为“结果,因此”。

Let me give you an example so that you can understand what I mean.

让我来举一个例子,你就会明白我在说什么了。

I got up early this morning, so that I caught the first bus.

今天早上我起床早，因此赶上了第一班公交车。

【拓展】“so…that…”意为“如此……以至于……”,so后接形容词或副词原级，that后引导结果状语从句。
