Step 1  Warming up

Have a free talk.

Ask students some questions about accidents. Ask them to answer and show some pictures to help them.

Q1: Have you ever had any accidents?

Step 2  Presentation  

1. Teach the new words rule, training and branch by using the pictures and making sentences.

2. Read the new words at least three times and try to remember them.

1. Play the recording of the email for the class to listen to and complete the sentences.

 我永远也不会设法接住一个正在下落的恐龙。

falling是fall的-ing形式,在句中作dinosaur的定语。不及物动词的-ing形式可表示正在进行或尚未结束的动作,而过去分词可以表示完成了的动作。

advise为及物动词,意为“劝告,建议”。

advise sb. to do sth.意为“建议某人做某事”; advise sb. not to do sth. 意为“劝告某人不要做某事”, 相当于advise sb. against sth./doing sth.,

Police are advising people to stay at home.

警方正告诫民众要留在家里。

I’d advise you not to tell him. 我劝你别告诉他。

【拓展】advise的名词形式为advice (建议),是不可数名词。

3. “Don’t climb too high,” she warned. “别爬得太高，”她提醒我说。

◆本句中high为副词,指具体的“高”。

 I held the flag high. 我把旗子高高举起。

【拓展】①副词highly通常指抽象的“高,高度”。

He spoke highly of me. 他高度赞扬了我。

②highly也可修饰形容词，意为“很，极”。

She is highly pleased. 她很高兴。

◆warn为及物动词,意为“警告”,其名词形式为warning。

 warn sb. (not) to do sth.意为“提醒/警告某人(不要)做某事”。

Mom warns me not to play football on the street.

妈妈警告我不要在街上踢足球。

4. She watched me climb higher and higher.

 她看着我爬得越来越高。

◆watch sb. do sth.意为“看见某人做某事”;

  watch sb. doing sth.意为“看见某人正在做某事”。

  He watches his son go into the school. 他看着他的儿子走进学校。

  He watches his son walking out of school.他看着他的儿子正走出学校。

【拓展】see, notice, hear等感官动词后跟do sth.和doing sth.的用法与watch一样。

◆ higher and higher意为“越来越高”。“比较级+比较级”表示“越来越……”,若是多音节形容词, 用“more and more+多音节形容词原级”表示“越来越……”。

  He runs faster and faster. 他跑得越来越快。

  Our hometown is becoming more and more beautiful.
