Lesson 21: The Fable of the Woodcutter
设计说明 首先向学生展示中国古代经典寓言的几幅图片让学生猜一猜每幅图的寓言名称,调动学生的积极性。然后播放《樵夫与斧头》的动画视频,让学生对本节课的寓言故事有大致了解,同时引起学生学习本课的兴趣。接下来教授本课节的生词。播放课文录音,让学生学会标准读音,并尽量模仿录音中的语音语调朗读,提升口语水平和朗读的流利度。再通过设置与课文相关的阅读任务,巩固和提高学生阅读理解和准确捕捉信息的能力。接着进行Let’s Do It!活动2,锻炼学生归纳人物特征的能力。在小组讨论环节,让学生进行小组讨论活动,合作解决问题。安排学生上网查找其他寓言故事,并尝试角色扮演,增加学习英语的趣味性并激发学生学习英语的自主性。最后,处理自我检测和当堂达标,提升解题能力。
教学目标 通过本课节的教学,学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握单词:silver 接触单词:fable,woodcutter,axe,dive,admit,policy 短语:make one’s living,dive into... 句型:Honesty truly is the best policy. 2.能力目标 能够运用一般过去时描述过去发生的事。 3.情感目标 养成良好的阅读习惯。 重点难点 1. 重点:学习本课节新词汇及重要表达。 2. 难点:正确运用一般过去时描述过去发生的事情。 教学准备 PPT课件;相关录音 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Ask the students the question: Do you know what a fable is? 2.Tell the students some information about it. 3.Show the students some pictures of ancient Chinese fables and let them guess the names of the fables. 4.Choose some students to answer. 5. Check the answers together. Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Show the students new words. 2.Ask the students to read aloud. Step 3 Reading 1. Play the recording for the students to listen to and ask them to read aloud after it. 2. Read the lesson and answer the questions. (Let’s Do It! No. 1) (1)What happened to the woodcutter when he was cutting wood beside a lake? (2)Who appeared as the woodcutter cried? (3)How did the woodcutter get back his old axe? (4)Why did the spirit give the woodcutter the other two axes as presents? 3. Ask one of the students to give the answers. 4. Check the answers together. Answers: (1)He lost his axe in the water. (2)A spirit appeared. (3)The spirit dove into the lake and brought back his axe. (4)Because the spirit was so happy with the woodcutter’s honesty. 5. Read the lesson again. Think about the spirit and the woodcutter. Match each person with the words that describe them. (Let’s Do It! No.2) 6. Ask one of the students to give the answers. 7. Check the answers together. Answers: Step 4 Practice 1. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words or phrases in the box. (Let’s Do It! No.3) 1. He_________ to his parents that he broke the window. No.4) (1)Find the rest of the fable on the Internet. Act it out. (2)Find another fable and act it out. You can search on the Internet or look in books. Don’t forget to find the moral in your fable. Step 5 Discussion 1. Let the students read the article on page 54 again and find out some key sentences and phrases. 2. Ask the students to find some difficult language points. 3. Let the students have a discussion about these difficult language points in groups of four. 4. Help the students explain these difficult language points. Step 6 Language points 1. ...and he needed it to make his living. ······并且靠它来谋生。 make one’s living 意为“谋生”,相当于make a living。 one’s 要与主语保持一致。 make a/one’s living by doing sth.意为“靠做某事谋生”。 He makes his living by teaching how to play the piano. 他靠教授弹钢琴谋生。 2. The spirit dove into the lake and brought back a gold axe. 精灵跳到湖里,带回一把金斧子。 dive 动词,意为“跳水,潜水”,其过去式为dived 或dove。 dive into 意为“跳入······中,潜入”。 Look! The swimming player is diving into the water. 看! 那个游泳运动员正跳入水中。 【拓展】 dive作动词时,还可意为“(飞机)俯冲”。 The plane suddenly dove to avoid the thunder-clouds. 飞机突然俯冲下来,以避开雷雨云。 3. Because he was honest, he admitted to the spirit that it wasn’t his axe. 因为他是诚实的,所以他向精灵承认那不是他的斧子。 admit 动词,意为“承认,赞同”。其过去式和过去分词为 admitted, admitted。 其主要用法有: (1) admit (to sb.) that... (向某人)承认······,that 引导宾语从句。 I admitted to my parents that I was wrong. 我(向父母)承认我错了。 (2) admit to sth. 承认某事 He admitted to his mistakes. 他承认了他的错误。 (3) admit to doing sth. 承认做了某事 She admitted to making the mistake. 她承认犯了错误。 4. The spirit went down a third time and returned with the woodcutter’s old axe.精灵再次下去,带着樵夫的那把旧斧子回来了。 a/an+序数词 意为“又一,再一”,表示相对前一个而言的又一个。 He has seen the film twice, but he wants to see it a third time. 那部电影他已看过两次了,可他还想再看一次。 【拓展】 “the+序数词”意为“第几”,表示按顺序排列。 His parents have two children; the second one is a girl. 他的父母有两个孩子,第二个是女孩。 Step 7 Homework 1.
