My Favourite Festival

My favourite festival is the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on he fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

The festival originated from(源自)a Chinese poet Qu Yuan,a loyal minister(忠诚的大臣)of the State of Chu. Some jealous(嫉妒的)officials spoke ill of him,causing him to commit suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River. To save his body from damage, the local villagers threw rice dumplings into the river to feed the fish.

The reason why I like the festival is that it reminds(提醒)us of Qu Yuan's patriotism(爱国主义) and family reunion(家庭团圆).

Reading Laozi's words, I reminded(回想起) a true story about me.

When I set foot on(踏进) the school, I decided to commit myself to schoolwork and realize my dream of being a prominent(杰出的) scientist. However, I lost my heart to(喜欢上)various society activities, which caused me to fail exams.

Fortunately, I realized it and I started to learn and inquire(追问) step by step. Eventually, I made rapid progress with the help of my teachers and classmates.
