设计说明 教师通过询问学生是否喜欢独自在家和独自在家有什么优点和缺点等问题,很自然地导入新课;通过结对活动、小组合作等方式巩固本单元词汇;通过听说训练,让学生进一步掌握让步状语从句和结果状语从句的用法;讲练结合,复习巩固前面所学的知识点和本单元新学知识点;朗读短文,提升朗读技巧;通过设置针对性的写作任务,提升运用语言的能力。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1. 知识目标 学习本单元新单词及短语 actually, manage, unhappy, turn off, order, be worried about, business, on business, sofa, snack, midnight, wake up, hand in, empty, unable, all day long, burn, cup, task。 2. 能力目标 谈论独自在家的生活。 3. 情感目标 谈论独自在家的优点和缺点,感恩父母的照顾与陪伴,培养独立生活的能力。 重点难点 重点:课文朗读;新学知识点的掌握和运用;让步状语从句和结果状语从句的运用 难点:相关的书面表达 教学准备 PPT课件;活动2的录音 授课时数 2课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in Ask and answer. T: Boys and girls, sometimes you have to be home alone because your parents may go somewhere on business. Do you like being home alone? Ss: ... T: What are the advantages of staying at home alone? And what are the disadvantages? S1: … S2: … Guess. Show some pictures to the class. Ask them to guess if the boy or the girl in the picture likes being home alone.
Step 2 Pair work Ask the students to work in pairs and talk about daily things they do alone and the things their parents do for them.

(1) Ask the students to read the title and the four summaries. (2) Ask them to listen to the passage and try to choose the best summary. (3) Ask them to read the passage and check their answers. (4) Check the answer as a class. Answer: a) Step 4 Careful reading 1. Read the passage carefully and then complete the sentences. See how Zheng Chenyu’s feelings changed. (1) Ask the students to read the sentences first. (2) Ask the students to read the passage carefully in order to complete the sentences. (3) Check the answers in pairs. And ask some students to say how they know the answers. Answers: 1 unhappy 2 happy; have some fun at last 3 tired and sleepy 4 lonely 5 was not always perfect 2. Read and then complete the chart. (1) Ask the students to read the passage again and then complete the chart on their own. (2) Check answers in groups. Answers: home alone; happy/ exciting; terrible/ unhappy; terrible/ bad; experiences/ story 3. Find out the phrases in the passage and then ask students to translate them into Chinese.

(2) Ask them to read the passage on their own. (3) Encourage some of the students to read the passage in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation and pause errors. Step 5 Post-reading 1. Complete the sentences. 2. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box. (1) Ask the students to complete the passage. (2) Check answers as a class. (3) Ask the students to read the passage.

Although they loved me, I felt a bit unhappy with them. 虽然他们爱我,但是我对他们有点儿不满意。 unhappy形容词,意为“不高兴的”,be unhappy with意为“对……不满意/不高兴”。 Jenny looked unhappy at the party, didn’t she? 珍妮在聚会上看起来不高兴,是不是? They were a little unhappy with the result. 他们对这个结果有点儿不满意。 2. Turn off the TV!关上电视! turn off turn on 关掉;关闭 打开 turn down turn up 调低(音量等) 调高(音量等) [注意] turn off, turn on, turn down, turn up都是“动词+副词”型动词短语,名词作宾语时,放在副词前后均可,但代词作宾语时,必须放在动词和副词之间。 Remember to turn off the lights before you leave. 你离开前记得把灯关上。 The radio is noisy. Turn it down. 收音机太吵了,把音量调低一下。 3. I became so bored with their orders that I wished they would leave me alone. 我如此厌烦他们的命令以至于我希望他们别管我。 order作可数名词,意为“命令;指示”。 No parking on this street, by order of the police. 根据警方的指示,这条街不能停车。 [拓展] (1)order作动词,意为“命令”,order sb. to do sth. 意为“命令某人做某事”。 The doctor ordered me to rest for a week. 医生嘱咐我休息一周。 (2)order作不可数名词,意为“顺序;秩序”,in order意为“按顺序”。 They are entering the hall in order. 他们正按顺序进入大厅。 4. The teacher asked me for my homework, but I could not hand it in. 老师向我要家庭作业,但是我交不上。 hand in hand out 上交 分发 [注意] hand in和hand out都是“动词+副词”型动词短语,名词作宾语时,放在副词前后均可,但代词作宾语时,必须放在动词和副词之间。 If you have finished your homework, please hand it in. 如果你完成了你的家庭作业,请交上来。 Let’s help the teacher hand out the books. 我们帮老师分发书吧。 Step 7 Writing Write a passage about what you can do and what you cannot do when your parents are away. 1. Ask the students to make a list of what they can do and can’t do when their parents are away. 2. Tell them to join the sentences with although, but, or so… that. 3. Advise them to write a conclusion to the sentences. 4. Ask some students to share their passages with their classmates. One possible answer: There are many things to do around the house when my parents are away. I can do some of them. For example, I can get up on time. That’s very important, because I do not want to be late for school! I can also make my bed, although I often don’t do it. I have a lot of homework every day. And I go to bed late. I am so tired that I cannot get up early enough to make my bed. I can go shopping for food, but I prefer to eat at the noodle shop, as I am not a very good cook. But I do cook at home sometimes because it is cheaper. I can wash the dishes, although it is the task I dislike most. I also dislike throwing out the rubbish, but it is better than washing up because it doesn’t take long to do. I can also wash my clothes, but I can’t iron them. Although my clothes are clean, they look a bit messy. It’s all a lot of work, but I am happy that I can look after myself and that my parents do not need to worry about me very much.
