    Unit 2  The game that they like most is Australian football.  

    设计说明

    通过几张关于澳大利亚的特色照片,与学生讨论澳大利亚的景观、动物、特产等,很自然地导入新课;通过结对活动、小组合作等方式巩固预习过的本单元词汇;通过听说训练,让学生进一步掌握that引导的定语从句的特征和用法;讲练结合,掌握本单元的新知识点,复习巩固前面所学的知识点;朗读短文,提升朗读能力;通过设置针对性的写作任务,提升运用语言的能力。

    教学目标

    通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1. 知识目标:

    掌握本单元新单词及短语 be surprised at, period, spirit, relationship, relative, ham, salad, grape, surf, kangaroo, riding, lazy, ride

    2. 能力目标:

    短文的朗读与理解,介绍自己参观过或熟悉的一个国家或地方。

    3. 情感目标:

    了解他国的自然风景和文化特色。

    难点:介绍自己参观过或熟悉的一个国家或地方

    教学过程

    Step 1  Lead-in

    1. Ask students to read the new words and expressions in this unit.

    2. Talk about the pictures.

    Ask students to say something about the pictures in English.

       

       

       

    T: Do you think Australia is a magical and beautiful country? Now, lets take a short tour around Australia.

    Step 2  Warming up

    1. Look at the pictures and describe them.

        

    1Ask students to work in pairs and brainstorm the vocabulary they could use to describe the pictures.

    2Ask students to work in groups. Describe each picture.

    2. Now guess what Tony is going to say in his letter.

    (1)Ask students to discuss what they think Tony is going to say in his letter.

    (2)Elicit ideas and write them on the board.

    Step 3  Fast reading

    1. Read the letter and find out what the pictures show.

     

    2. Read the letter in Activity 2 again and find:

    1 five colours: purple, red...

    2 three animals:

    3 four kinds of food:

    4 four sports:

    (1)Ask students to complete this activity on their own.

    (2)Check answers in groups.

    Answers:

    1 purple, red, dark blue, yellow, green

    2 sheep, kangaroos, horses

    3 harm, beef, salad, grapes

    4 Australian football, swimming, surfing, horse riding

    Step 4  Careful reading

    1. Complete the table.

    (1)Ask students to try to complete the table with a partner. Tell them not to search for information in the passage.

    (2)Allow them to check their information by reading the passage.

    (3)Check answers as a class.

    Answers:

    Ayers Rock: 3. 6 kilometres long and 348 metres high, a centre of local Aboriginal culture

    The Aborigines: have lived in Australia from the earliest times

    Australian way of life: like ham and beef with lots of salad, Australian football, going to the beach

    Weather: sunny

    2. Read the passage.

    1Ask students to follow the recording to read.

    2Ask them to read the passage on their own.

    3Encourage some of the students to read the passage. Correct the pronunciation and pause errors.

    Step 5  After reading

    1. Complete the sentences with the correct form of the words in the box.

    2. Retell the passage.

    (1)Find some key words in each paragraph. Say as many sentences as possible together with the students.

    (2)Ask the students to practice on their own.

    (3)Encourage some students to retell the passage.

    Step 6  Language points

    1. At the moment, we are staying near Ayers Rock.

    现在我们在艾尔斯岩附近。

    at the moment此刻,现在;相当于now

    Tom is busy at the moment; otherwise he would help you.

    汤姆现在很忙,不然他会帮助你。

    Step 7  Writing

    Write a letter about a visit to a place in China.

    (1)Ask students to think of a place in China that they can write about, then read the four headings:

    1)people

    2)food

    3)ways of lie

    4)events during the trip

    (2)Now write a letter to a relative or a friend and tell him/her about your visit. Begin and end the letter like Tony’s.

    (3)Encourage some students to share their letters.

    Step 8  Homework

    1. Retell the passage.

    2. Review the words and expressions of Unit 2.

    3. Finish the exercises of this unit.
