Ask the students some questions. The answers are various. What are they doing? Do you enjoy playing basketball? Why or why not? 2. Think about it. Ask the students to think about the two questions. Do you have basketball teams in your school? What makes you unique in your class? Step 2 Vocabulary 1. Teach the new words of this lesson. Greece n. 希腊(地名) nobody pron. 没有人 return v. & n. 返回;回应 Greek adj.希腊(人)的;n. 希腊语;希腊人 junior adj. & n. 初级(的);儿童(的) continue v. 继续;延续 2. Ask the students to read the new words in groups. Step 3 Reading Task 1 Pre-reading Look at the picture. Think about the questions. 1. What can you see in the picture? 2. Who is the girl? 3. Where does she come from? 4. What’s her main talent? Georgia Task 2 Fast-reading 1. Ask the students to read the lesson quickly and get the main idea of each paragraph.
2. Check their answers together. Task 3 Careful-reading 1. Ask the students to read the lesson again and answer the questions. (1) What makes Georgia unique? (2) What’s her main talent? Instruct the students to work in groups to discuss what makes each of them unique. 2. Students can record their answers in a table and present it in front of the class.
Step 7 Language points 1. Nobody else in my school comes from Greece!在我的学校里没有其他的人来自希腊! nobody else 意为“没有其他人”,相当于no other people。else常用在不定代词、疑问词之后,else表示“另外;其他”。 Nobody else knows the secret.没有别人知道这个秘密。 Did you know anybody else?你认识其他人吗? What else can you see?你还能看到其他什么东西? 2. I’ve been in Canada for seven and a half years.我在加拿大已有7年半了。 (1) have been in为现在完成时结构,强调某人已经在某地,并且目前还在那里。常与表示一段时间的状语连用。 Mr. Green has been in Shanghai for four months. 格林先生已经在上海待了四个月了。 【拓展】

He has gone to the park. 那个人不可能是格林先生。他去公园了。 I have been to the Summer Palace. 我去过颐和园。 (2) seven and a half years 意为“七年半”,相当于seven years and a half。 表示几个半的方法是: ①基数词+and+a half+名词复数 ②基数词+名词复数+and+a half (当基数词为one时,名词用单数 ) 一年半:one and a half years/one year and a half 两个半小时:two and a half hours/ two hours and a half 3. But she sometimes returns to Greece to play for the Greek National Basketball Team.但有时她返回希腊为希腊国家篮球队打球。 return此处用作不及物动词,意为“回;返回” 。 “return to+地点”意为“返回某地”。 She has returned to Beijing from Jinan.她已经从济南回到北京。 【拓展】 return还可用作及物动词,意为“归还;送回”,相当于give…back。 return sb. sth.=return sth. to sb. 意为“把某物归还某人”。 She returned the bird to its cage.她把鸟放回笼子里。 4. My parents want me to study medicine, but I want to continue taking P.E.我父母想让我学医,但我想继续学习体育。 continue动词,意为“继续;延续”,后可跟doing sth.也可跟to do sth. After a rest, he continued his reading.休息一会儿后,他继续读书。 After he finished reading a novel, he continued to play games with his friends. 他读完小说后跟朋友们继续玩游戏。 Step 8 Summary Sum up what we’ve learnt in this period with the class. 1.New words: Greece, nobody, return, Greek, junior, continue 2.
