Many local people lived a poor life. Some of them made money by catching wild animals. Kalema wanted to protect these animals. The key to doing it, she realized, was to make the local people’s life better. The woman provided these people with fast-growing crops (庄稼). By growing the crops, the locals could feed themselves and make a better living. They no longer needed to capture animals. Slowly, their thought towards these wild animals began to change. In recent years, we have been used to wearing masks (口罩) much more often in our daily lives. Do you think wearing a mask makes us prettier or uglier?
Scientists did an experiment (实验) to answer this question. They prepared many photos of men faces. Each face was shown in four ways: without a mask, wearing a cloth mask, wearing a blue medical mask, and covering the lower half of the face with a black book.
Then, the scientists showed the photos to 43 women. They were asked to pick out the most attractive (迷人的) face. According to the results, the photos with medical masks topped the list. And the photos with cloth masks came in second place.
In the past, we usually stayed away from mask wearers. We just thought that they might be sick and might make us sick, too. But now, the situation has changed. When we see people not wearing masks in public places, we might feel unsafe. As a result, mask wearers are now considered to be healthier and more attractive.
Masks also make the wearer more attractive by covering part of his face. Our brain fills in the missing part of it. The appearance we imagine may be better than the real one.
It’s really helpful to wear a mask. Making you prettier is just one reason ...
43.Why did the scientists do the experiment?
    A.To take nicer photos.

During COVID-19, many people have to stay at home. Though some are taking this chance to practice their cooking skills, others are missing delicious food that is often served in restaurants. Hotpot (火锅) is on the top of the food list.
In order to meet people’s needs, a new documentary (纪录片), Pot of Fire, has been on. It is directed by Qu Nan and it can help Internet users “enjoy” hotpot together online.
As one of the famous meals in China, hotpot has been popular for ages, for it’s free for all and healthy. From vegetables to meat, from noodles to seafood, people just need to add different foods into the hotpot to enjoy the great freshness of food in this way. But eating hotpot is much more than an enjoyment for our taste and health. It’s also a celebration of life and friendship. For most Chinese people, eating hotpot is usually a social activity. A survey showed that 40.2% of Chinese usually eat hotpot with friends, while 17.6% take the chance to meet their family.
As a popular saying goes, “There’s nothing to worry about after having a hotpot. If you are still worried, then go for it twice.” So if you feel empty or lonely, why not cook a hotpot to fill your stomach and heart as well?

There are four people in my family my father, mother, sister and I. They all love me deeply. But even in such a loving family, misunderstandings and problems can’t be avoided.
One day, I was doing my homework in my room and my sister entered. Busy with homework, I didn’t talk to her and just kept working. But when I took a rest, I found some messy drawings on my notebook. At that time, I walked out of my room and shouted at my sister angrily,“You are really a trouble-maker and I hate you”. After hearing the words, my sister cried loudly and tried to explain. But, I refused to listen. The “silence” lasted for a long time between us.
To solve the problem, my father brought me to the living room and asked, “Have you ever noticed what the drawing is on your notebook?” I shook my head. Then, I looked at it carefully. It said, “Happy birthday”. At that moment, I knew how careless I was. Though drawing on my notebook wasn’t right, it was her own way to show her love.
As a matter of fact, there are many different ways of showing love. Through this experience, I finally realized understanding the different expressions to show love is the first step to feel love.

Now my dream has come true. I work in a hospital every day to save people's lives. There are more cutting-edge(前沿的)medical services. Doctors can do operations(手术)even when they're far away from patients. This is because the Internet is faster now. We have 8G and robots that are smart enough.
China now is one of the most developed countries in the world. Every car on the streets is a self-driving car. They use electricity and won't pollute the air. Travelling to the moon has become popular. I know it's hard for you to imagine, but it's true. People between the ages of 18 and 60 are able to travel to the moon. I just bought a ticket and I'm going to travel to the moon soon. How exciting!

Usually schools and teachers set the class rules for students. But a Wuhan school recently tried a different way. This year, classroom rules have been made by themselves-all 46 students. During the first days of this school year, the teacher asked each student to give a list of rules to help make their class a good learning environment. The whole class shared and discussed the lists. The rule-making activity lasted a month. Finally the class had 30 rules.
Then, rule-making students were asked to sign up on the rule list—their promise to follow the rules. A poster(海报)with all the rules was put up beside the blackboard. Most of the rules are about what they should or shouldn't do. “No mobile phone calls or text messages in class” and “No loud noise in the classroom” are two examples.
Some of the rules are strict with the students who break the rules. If a student is late for class above a certain number of times, he or she will lose the chance to be an honor student(优等生). Students say the rules work well in the classroom. “We are the rule-makers, so we have to follow the rules that we agreed to,” said one of the students.
    63. How long did the rule-making activity last?
    A. A year. B. A month. C. A week. D. A day.

    D
Most of your textbooks are single-use. After leaving school, old textbooks are thrown away, which is a big waste of money and paper.
According to a study, students across the country buy 2.8 billion new textbooks every year. If the following year's students could reuse these textbooks, it would save 20 billion yuan every year. That's enough money to build 40, 000 primary schools.
Primary and middle school students in several Chinese cities are reusing music, arts, science and IT textbooks. That's because students don't have to take notes in their textbooks for these subjects, which makes them good for recycling(回收利用).
However, these books are only a small part of the total number of textbooks. As there is no good way for redistributing(再分配)second-hand textbooks, most textbooks still end up as waste.
Changes in curricula also make it hard to reuse textbooks. “'m among the first group of students to take classes after the changes of subjects, so I have to buy new textbooks that students didn't use.”
Sun Run, a high school student from Hangzhou said.
    66. How does the writer show the importance of reusing textbooks in paragraph 2?
    A. By asking questions. B. By giving examples.
    C. By comparing differences. D. By listing numbers.
    67. What makes most second-hand textbooks still end up as waste?
    A. Most students don't like old books at all.
    B. Students can only take notes in the new books.
    C. There's no good way for redistributing them.
    D. There are many books that students didn't use.
    68. What does the underlined word “curricula” in Paragraph 5 mean?
    A. 课程 B. 救护 C. 看法 D. 话题

When you and your family go out for dinner, do you notice how many dishes you usually order? It's fine if you finish all of them. But if you waste too much food, you might pay for it in the near future. On Dec. 22 last year, the government reviewed a draft law(草案)for stopping food waste.
According to the draft law, restaurants should tell customers not to order too much and they should describe the size of each dish. If they leave too much food uneaten, restaurants can charge(收费)them for food waste.
The draft law also stops waiters from encouraging customers to order too much food. Those who don't follow the law will receive a fine from 1,000 to 10,000 yuan.
It also asks schools to teach their students to avoid food waste. Radio and TV programs about overeating and overdrinking are not allowed. Producers of such programs will face a fine of up to 100,000 yuan.
Food waste happens in many places. In China alone, 35 million tons of food ends up in landfills(垃圾堆)every year. About 12% of the country's food goes to waste.

The other day I was sitting in my car in a supermarket parking lot. From time to time, I would look up and watch what people were doing.
I saw an expensive car pull up next to me. Out of it stepped a well-dressed young woman. She was frowning(皱眉). I watched as she walked toward the supermarket.
Later, a dirty old car pulled up. Out of it stepped a young mom with her little girls. All of them wore old clothes. She got her kids together. They walked toward the supermarket, laughing the whole way there.
Some time later, I saw the expensive car lady coming out with a new TV set. She was still frowning. Fifteen minutes after that, the mother came out with her girls. They had one week's worth of groceries(杂货), The mom took two cookies out of a small box, broke each cookie in half, and gave each girl half a cookie. They smiled as if it was the most priceless gift in the world.
I clearly knew who had the most money. But I wasn't sure who had the “most”. There are many kinds of wealth in life. But the most valuable one is love. Those who love the most learn the most, live the most and grow the most. Remember this and fill all your days with love.

You may have heard of the popular saying, “Practice makes perfect.” But have you ever wondered whether it's really true? Does practice always make perfect?
Sometimes practice does make perfect. Take a math test for example. If you know you're going to have a math test in a week, you can keep doing math exercises before the test. If you get a full mark on your test, that's perfect and you can say the practice helped get you there.
However, in some other fields of life, practice doesn't always make perfect. It doesn't mean that practice is useless. Sometimes it just means that there's no such thing as "perfect in a certain field. For example, if you play sports or a musical instrument, there are no perfect games or perfect shows. It all depends on what you consider to be perfect."
Even if practice doesn't always make perfect, it almost always makes you better than you were before practicing. The more you practice something, the better you are at it.
    36. The writer takes a math test for example to ________.
    A. explain what is perfect B. encourage us to practice less
    C. show practice can help us a lot D. make us believe nothing is perfect

    A. Because practice is useless. B. Because there isn't a certain standard.
    C. Because life is difficult for us. D. Because we can never get a full mark.
    38. What does the writer talk about in the text?
    A. Practice never makes perfect. B. It's easy and fun to be perfect.
    C. How to practice for perfection? D. Does practice always make perfect?
    B

We'll finally grow up someday, leaving our parents and facing the challenges(挑战) in life. Parents may not be able to solve every problem for us. Instead, we should have enough life skills deal with the problems we will meet in the future.
This is what our country tries to do now: Helping more students get working spirit. To stress the importance of hardworking spirit education among students of different ages, a guideline (指导方针) came out recently. The guideline asks students to respect work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.
According to a study of nearly 3,000 students in March, only 22% primary and middle school students help with everyday housework. Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the importance of working hard, the guideline says.
Primary and middle school should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-Planting Day.
As children's first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do housework at home, so students can develop one or two life skills every year.
    42. Why do we need enough life kills?

You know now that 5G can give you a faster online experience. In fact, 5G can do a 1ot more than just this. Here are some of the things 5G can do.
    Education
Do you have live classes at home? With 5G, you can have classes outside your home. The class can go as smoothly as the ones you have at home. Students from poor areas can have the chance to study just like you do.
    Self-driving car
5G makes self-driving cars safer. These cars can send signals (信号) to each other. They can also “talk” to traffic lights. 5G will make cars even faster than human drivers.

    A
You may have heard of the popular saying, “Practice makes perfect.” But have you ever wondered whether it's really true?
