In 1992, when Xi Jinping wrked in Fuzhu, he came acrss a newspaper reprt abut “My Guling,” written by a Chinese student studying in the United States.
The reprt described an American cuple wh tried in vain t revisit a suthern Chinese twn called Guling, where the husband, Miltn Gardner, had spent 10 years f his childhd befre mving back t the United States in 1911.
