Wang Fang, a Suzhou native, has given her heart and soul to Kunqu Opera. Wang, who has twice won the Plum Performance Award — China’s top award for theatre and opera performances — started to learn the traditional art form in 1977.
Born with a melodic voice, Wang loved to sing and dance when she was little. She performed frequently, and was recruited by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe (剧团) when she was in middle school. However, her parents refused the troupe’s invitation, insisting that she should concentrate on her studies and not drop out of school. After members of the troupe visited the parents repeatedly and showed great sincerity, Wang’s parents finally agreed.
Learning the traditional art form was never easy. She started to learn how to pronounce words, sing them lyrically and make gestures gently. As an actress playing martial artists roles at first, she had to spend extra time practicing kung fu movements. Years later, Wang used the word “unimaginable” to describe how hard the days were when she first learned Kunqu. She was soaked in sweat when practicing movements in summer, while in winter she often had chilblains (冻疮) on her hands when training in shabby classrooms with broken windows. “But I was young and determined at the time. No matter how difficult, I always got up early the next morning to practice.” Wang recalls.
Wang says she did not love Kunqu at first, but in her early 20s, when she watched the show Peony Pavilion performed by Zhang Jiqing, a master of the art form, it clicked. “I was shocked,” Wang says. “Her every movement was full of elegance and delicacy. Each of her lines and songs was perfect. I was overwhelmed (难以禁受) by the beauty of Kunqu for the first time in my life, and it has stayed with me since.” Now, Wang has herself become a master of Kunqu. Her performances have impressed generations of audiences and helped to promote the art form among young people.
1. Why did Wang’s parents turn down the troupe’s invitation at first?
A. They didn’t want Wang to ignore her studies.
B. They saw no future in learning Kunqu Opera.
C. They didn’t think Wang had artistic talent.
D. They regarded members of the troupe as insincere.
2. Which of the following has the closest meaning with the underlined phrase “was soaked in” in para 3?
A. be crowded with B. be worthy of
C. be bathed in D. be composed of
3. What does Wang’s story show us?
A. It is never too late to learn. B. A good beginning is half done.
C. Rome was not built in a day. D. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Most people are fond of theme parks. I enjoy them as much as my kids. However, not everyone agrees with me. My wife is terrified of anything more exciting than the merry-go-round. So why do I love Blackpool’s Big One while she goes white on hearing the words “roller coaster”?
According to psychologists, it comes down to something called a “Type T” personality. People with this personality are usually thrill-seekers who welcome the uncertainty of activities that most people would find hair-raising. It seems some of us enjoy the physical sensations associated with fear: the adrenaline (肾上腺素) rush and the beating heart. Scary rides make us feel alive. Terrifying experiences encourage a sense of excitement though we only enjoy them when we are within a “protective frame”.
Recent research has found certain genes (基因) which may be responsible for those of us with Type T personalities. Biochemists have separated a gene called DRD4 which seems more common in roller coaster lovers like me.
New technologies have allowed engineers to design coasters that change speeds quickly, shoot up hundreds of feet into the air and make all sorts of twists. Research suggests that extreme rides tend to appeal to those who lead stressful or controlled lives. It’s certainly true that roller coasters are a way of breaking out of the humdrum (乏味的) expectations of everyday life. Theme parks allow us to act like children again, to experience true excitement and behave a little wildly. Where else as an adult can you scream at the top of your lungs and throw your arms in the air without being sent for psychological evaluation?
If you’re looking for a great place this summer where you can get the thrilling experience, head for the nearest theme park. It’s a scream!
4. Which of the following statements is true about the author’s wife?
A. She is frightened of the merry-go-round. B. She always agrees with the author.
C. She loves Blackpool’s Big One. D. She fears extreme rides.
5. What has recent research found about the Type T personality?
A. It is common among people. B. It’s caused by living separately.
C. It is genetically determined. D. It is a result of a physical disorder.
6. What can we infer from para 4?
A. Extreme rides help relieve stress.
B. We can act like children in theme parks.
C. Extreme rides contribute to parent-kid relationships.
D. Extreme rides are a replacement for psychological evaluation.
7. What’s the author’s attitude towards theme parks?
A. Critical. B. Disapproving. C. Uninterested. D. Supportive.
【答案】4. D 5. C 6. A 7. D
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述了T型人格形成原因及其特点。
【4题详解】

【5题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Recent research has found certain genes (基因) which may be responsible for those of us with Type T personalities.(最近的研究发现某些基因可能是T型人格形成主要原因)”可知,T型人格的形成是由基因决定的。故选C。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“Research suggests that extreme rides tend to appeal to those who lead stressful or controlled lives. It’s certainly true that roller coasters are a way of breaking out of the humdrum (乏味的) expectations of everyday life.(研究表明,极限骑行往往会吸引那些承受巨大压力的人,过山车是一种能够打破乏味的生活的很好方式)”可知,极限骑行或过山车这种极限运动可以帮助人们释放压力或打破无聊。故选A。
【7题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“If you’re looking for a great place this summer where you can get the thrilling experience, head for the nearest theme park. It’s a scream(如果你想在这个夏天找一个能让你兴奋的地方,那就去最近的主题公园,这绝对能让你尖叫)”可知,这里作者提供了一个去主题公园的建议,因此可以推断出作者对主题公园是持支持态度的。故选D。

Public security authorities nationwide have found 2,609 missing and abducted children since January, one of whom had been missing for 61 years, said an official with the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday.
They have also resolved 147 cases of child abduction and trafficking and arrested 372 suspects, said Tong Bishan, deputy head of the ministry’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

His now 26-year-old son was abducted in 1997 at the age of two and in 2015, Guo’s story was made into the movie Lost and Love starring Hong Kong actor, Andy Lau.

第二节 续写(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
My husband and I are fond of travelling. Ten years ago, we went on a 10-day trip across the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert.
On our second-to-last day in Morocco, we happily took a trip to Essaouira, an old and beautiful seaside town on the Atlantic coast. During the journey there, we stopped at a local shop, where we got to taste some argan oil. After that, we headed for where we stayed. We arrived at our small guest house in Essaouira at around dinner time, and on our way to a local restaurant my husband started to feel unwell. He went back to our guest house while I had dinner with some friends.
When I got back to our guest house after dinner, I found my husband sitting on the bathroom floor, looking very pale. He had been sick about six times in an hour. He spent the rest of the night in the bathroom, getting very familiar with the house’s pipe. Our main suspect object was the argan oil—it probably didn’t agree with him.
At about 4 am, my husband finally managed to leave the bathroom and crawl into bed. He was very sick and dehydrated, so I went down to the reception to buy a bottle of water. When I got to the lobby, I found a young man behind the desk, who didn’t look older than 18, and explained to him that my husband was sick and I needed to buy some bottled water for him.
Our house was very small and basic and didn’t have a restaurant or cafe. The young man informed me that they didn’t sell any drinks at the house. Worrying about my husband, I asked him where the nearest shop was. I looked out of the window and my heart started to race. I didn’t fancy risking going into the unfamiliar streets of the Medina in the dark, all by myself. In fact, I was afraid of it.

2)应使用5个以上短文中标有下划线的关键词语;
3)续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;

【答案】Para. 1:
Instead of giving me directions to the nearest shop, the young man asked me to wait for him there. He popped outside and disappeared in the dark quickly. I was wondering what he would do when he appeared in about 15 minutes out of breath, carrying a large bottle of water. He gave me the bottle and asked me to give my husband some water as soon as possible. You couldn’t imagine the relief that washed over me when I saw him in the doorway.
Para. 2:
I handed him 5 dollars for the water But he didn’t accept the money despite my insistence. I had been up all night worrying about my husband. The last thing I wanted to do was to walk through unfamiliar streets in the dark. The young man helped me without expecting anything in return. I was so grateful for the kindness from a total stranger on a helpless night.
