(2022春·江苏盐城·七年级统考期中)The most important memory(记忆) of my childhood is about a round table.
When I was still a little child, my whole family would get together on every festival to have dinner, while kids would be playing under the table. When I got a little older, my aunt brought back her boyfriend. He was a tall and shy man. My grandma felt happy. When he sat with us around the table, we felt closer(亲密的) to this new family member.
We all have a table like this in our homes. It is a symbol(象征) of our families. In fact, in China, people can solve(解决) almost everything over a round table. When a boy falls in love with a girl, when someone leaves, even when there is an important meeting between countries, all of these can happen over a round table. So I start to think what this round table means(意味着) to us.
The food on the table may change with time. The people sitting besides it may come and go. But our care and love for our family, our community and our country and even the whole world won’t change. All of us and even(甚至) our country are looking for the stories of the round table. The round table has been a symbol of the Chinese sensation(情感). It was, it is and it will always be.

A.get together to have dinner B.play under the table

A.Stay with families. B.Have dinner together.

A.Our love for the round table will change with time.
B.People will sit beside the table all the time.
C.The round table is important to our Chinese.
D.We won’t have the round table in the future.
15.What’s the best title of the passage?
    A.My childhood B.Chinese festivals
C.Symbol of our families D.Round table

(2022春·江苏南通·七年级校联考期中)Large cities are, in many ways, fantastic places to live. They usually have the best schools, biggest companies and best hospitals. However, they are also crowded (拥挤的), as people from small towns choose to live in large cities for school or work.
Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is a big city with 13.93 million people. The Japanese government (政府) is thinking about paying people to leave the city. And it is planning to offer (提供) 3 million yen to people who decided to move and find a job elsewhere.
This is because the city is getting too crowded. According to NIIK, Tokyo and the areas around it have a total population (人口) of about 38 million. The number of people moving to the areas has been greater than the number of people who have left for the last 22 years. About one out of every three people in Japan lives in Tokyo.
This has put a lot of pressure on transportation (交通), hospitals and other public services of the city. What’s more, there has been a population drop (人口下降) in other parts of Japan. Young people in those places leave and never return. Villages and towns in the countryside are mainly made up of old people those days. Schools are closing and nobody will work on the farm.
For many years, Japan’s government has tried to move people away from the capital and help rebuild (重建) the countryside. Some local governments have used tax cuts (减税) to encourage (鼓励) companies to come back. But it doesn’t work well. Top schools and companies are all in Tokyo, so leaving the capital seems to be a bad decision (决定) for most people.
19.How will the Japanese government make people leave Tokyo?
A.By giving less public services. B.By giving them money.
C.By increasing house prices. D.By making a law.
20.In Paragraph 3, the writer uses statistics (数据) to show ________.
A.Tokyo is a fantastic place to live B.Tokyo is becoming too crowded
C.Tokyo is a city with a long history D.Tokyo has developed fast over the years
21.What does the underlined word “pressure” mean in Chinese?
    A.压力 B.要素 C.缺陷 D.限制
22.From the passage, we can infer (推断) that ________.
A.Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan B.there will be fewer old people in the village
C.companies in Japan don’t need to pay tax (付税) D.people won’t leave Tokyo in a short time

(2022春·江苏南通·七年级校联考期中)Do you have a headache(头痛)? Take an aspirin(阿司匹林) or eat bird brains(禽脑). Do you want beautiful skin? Use skin cream or eat pearls(珍珠). Is your hair turning grey? Color your hair or eat black rice.
“Eat bird brains, pearls, and black rice?” Some people ask. “How strange!” But for many Chinese people, bird brains, pearls, and black rice are not strange things to eat. Instead(相反), they are good medicines(药). Food that people use for medicines is called medicinal(药用的) food. The Chinese have eaten medicinal food and spices(香辛料) for centuries(世纪). Ginger(姜), for example, is a common spice(普通调料) in Chinese cooking. Ginger gives food a nice flavor(滋味). The Chinese began to use ginger many years ago. They used ginger not because it tasted good. They used ginger because it was medicinal. Ginger, they thought, was good for the digestion(消化). It also helped people who had colds. Pepper(辣椒) and garlic(蒜), too, were probably medicines a long time ago.
Some people don’t believe that food and spices are good medicines. They want to buy their medicine in drugstores(药店), not in supermarkets. Other people want to try medicinal food. They say, “Maybe medicinal food can’t help me. But it can’t hurt me, either.”
People can try medicinal food at a Chinese restaurant in California, the USA.The restaurant serves medicinal food. The menus at the restaurant have a list of dinners. Next to each dinner there is information about the food. For example, the information helps people order “Queen’s Secret,” which is one dinner at the restaurant. This dinner has meat from chickens with black feathers. It is for women who want to look young.
23.All of the followings are common spices in Chinese cooking EXCEPT(除了) ________.

24.What do you know about medical food?

B.Many Chinese believe medicinal food tastes good.
C.Medical food may be bad for your health.
D.Medicinal food is served all over the world.
25.Why did the Chinese begin to use ginger many years ago?
A.Because it gave food different flavors. B.Because it made food more delicious.
C.Because it was good for people’s health. D.Because it made people feel cold.
26.What can we infer(推测) according to the passage?

Some young people go to other countries and work as volunteers (志愿者). Volunteers give their time to help people. For example, they work in schools or hospitals, or they do something helpful for the environment.

(2022春·江苏常州·七年级常州市第二十四中学校考期中)“Why do birds sing?” I asked a group of children. “To attract metes (配偶)!” answered a boy. A 4-year-old girl added shyly, “Birds sing because they are happy, and they want to make us happy, too. “I think both answers are probably true in a way. If birds sing happily, it shows all is good in the forest: no predators (捕食者) are present, and the birds can feed, sing and do other things. The sound of a relaxed robin (知更鸟) singing is easy to understand because it makes us feel this way too—it’s a sound that lifts our own hearts when we hear it.
What happens when a predator comes into their areas? The nearby birds quickly give an alarm (警报) call, a short sound that warns, “Danger is coming!” On hearing the sound, the other birds stop singing and fly away, the deer lift their heads and stop moving and the rabbits run into the bushes. Suddenly, the forest becomes very quiet.
When humans walk through the woods in a hurry or while talking with a friend, we don’t see much wildlife. We may think that there aren’t many animals living there, but more likely, they know we are coming and hide minutes before our arrival. But if we learn to shut off alarms, we can see many more wild animals without frightening them. To practice, find a place in a park and sit quietly for an hour. Take notes as the birds begin to relax and sing again. When I do this, I am always surprised at the wonderful thing animals will do when humans stay still (不动的) long enough.
84.In the writer’s mind, the children’s answers to his question are ________.
    A.funny B.unbelievable
    C.hard to understand D.reasonable
85.Why CAN’T we see much wildlife in the woods from this passage? ________
A.Because we have set off alarms. B.Because we fail to give warnings.
C.Because we come at the wrong time. D.Because few animals live there.
86.The purpose (目的) of the last paragraph is to ________.
A.show people how and when birds sing.
B.ask people to learn something about birds.
C.tell people how to keep birds safe in the wild.
D.advise people to enjoy the songs of birds.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics saw the rise of new Chinese sports stars. Many post-00s athletes challenged (挑战) themselves and showed love for their sports.
Gu Ailing won two medals (奖牌) from her first two events — one gold, one silver. The 18-year-old won the women’s freeski (自由式滑雪) big air event with an amazing jump she had never tried before. She made four and a half rotations (旋转) in the air before landing backward (向后). The teenager was so excited that she cried after the jump. “The tears (眼泪) were mostly of joy, that I had pushed myself to the absolute limit (极限),” she said afterward.
Gu wants to send a message to young winter sports lovers. “Just go for it,” she said.
Su Yiming, who just turned 18, agrees with Gu. He won a gold medal for snowboarding (单板滑雪) in the men’s big air and a silver medal in the slopestyle (坡面障碍技巧). He showed off a difficult trick (高难度动作) — five full rotations in the air.
“As a snowboard lover, I don’t care much about the score. Instead, I just want to make more brilliant (绝妙的) tricks. The happiness comes from that,” said Su.
Su said he was “too excited” to describe standing on the podium (领奖台) with his childhood idols — Canadian snowboarders Max Parrot and Mark McMorris.
“I want to say to all Chinese snowboarders that they should keep working hard and never give up, because dreams can come true,” he said after his win.
Learn more about the sports stars
More than a skier, Gu Ailing is a part-time fashion model. She is also good at the piano. She will study at Stanford University in the fall.

Gu and Su are good friends. They cheer for each other. Their friendship started years ago. In 2017, 13-year-old Su and 14-year-old Gu appeared in a documentary (纪录片) about skiing. As they trained in different events, they exchanged equipment (装备) to teach each other.

(2022春·江苏苏州·七年级校考期中)When you look at the night sky, what you see are actually lots of “power plants”. Every star makes a huge amount of energy through nuclear fusion (核聚变). For years, scientists have tried to make this kind of energy. They need to make a “mini star” on Earth. Recently, some scientists made a big step forward.
In February, the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in Oxfordshire, UK, doubled a world record set in 1997. The machine there, named Jet, used fusion engines (发动机) to make the same amount of energy as four wind turbines (涡轮机) make, reported The Guardian.
In the past, no experiment could make more energy than what was used to start the fusion engine. This new experiment, although only lasting five seconds, showed it’s possible to make more power.
The reaction (反应) stopped when the equipment (设备) got too hot. This problem can be solved with cooling systems. Future fusion reactions may last much longer than five seconds-minutes or even hours.
Why do we care so much about star power? Fusion reactions would provide power to everyone on Earth-enough for everyone to use for thousands or millions (百万) of years. They’re also clean— they don’t produce carbon dioxide or radioactive (放射性的) waste.
You may wonder why fusion energy is so hard to make. Creating conditions similar to a star is not easy. The machine must reach temperatures as high as 10 times that of the sun’s core (核).
Even so, it’s time to get excited about star power. If it can be successfully rolled out (开展), it will be a landmark (里程碑) in human history.
111.What are compared to “power plants” in Paragraph 1?
A.scientists B.nuclear plants C.stars in the sky D.mini stars on Earth
112.The machine that set the new record can produce as much energy as ________.
A.a wind turbine B.two wind turbines C.four wind turbines D.eight wind turbines
113.What can make the reaction last longer?
A.Keeping the equipment hot. B.Using a cooling system.
    C.Creating a warmer environment. D.Starting a new experiment.
114.What can we learn about fusion energy from the passage?
A.It is now useful in everyday life.
B.It is very difficult to make on Earth.
C.It exists in a very cold environment.
D.It can be taken from the core of the sun.
