Climbing, I nce thught, was a very manly activity, but as I fund my way int this activity, I came t see that smething quite different happens n the rck.
Like wild swimming, rck climbing invlves yu int the landscape. On the rck, I am fully present. Eyes pay clse attentin, ears are alert ( 警觉的), and hands mve acrss the surface. Unlike walking, where I culd happily wander abut absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive bservatin is essential.
As an arts student studying English literature, I discvered a new type f reading frm utdr climbing. Ging ut n t the crags (悬崖), I saw hw yu can learn t read the rcks and develp a vcabulary f physical mvements. Gd climbers knew hw t map their bdies n t the stne. Watching them, I wanted t pssess that skillful language.
My leap happened when I wrked fr the Cairngrms Natinal Park Authrity. Guiding my explratins int this strange new landscape was Nan Shepherd. Unlike the gal-directed mindset f many muntaineers, she is nt cncerned with peaks r persnal beats. Shepherd sees the muntain as a ttal envirnment and she celebrates the Caingrms as a place alive with plants, rcks, animals and elements. Thrugh her generus spirit and my wn wanderings, I saw that rck climbing need nt be a prcess f testing yurself against anything. Rather, the intensity f fcus culd release yu int anther way f being.
Spending s much time in high and stny places has changed my view n the wrld and ur place in it. I have cme int physical cntact with prcesses that g way beynd the everyday. Wrking with gravity, gelgy (地质学), rhythms f weather and deep time, I gain an actual relatinship with the earth. This cnnectin lies at the heart f my passin fr rck climbing. I return t the rcks, because this is where I feel in tuch — with ur land.
Why des the authr like climbing?
It challenges her t cmpete with men.
Ir allws her a unique attitude tward rck.
It teaches her hw t pssess a new language.
It makes her feel cnnected with the wrld.
What des the writer find imprtant in climbing?

What des the writer learn frm Nan Shepherd?
Climbing ges tgether with nature.
Every muntain tp is within reach.
The best climber is the ne having fun.
Yu cannt achieve high unless yu change.
What des the underlined wrd “it” in paragrap 5 refer t?

Can yu imagine a wrld withut music? Studies shw that public schls acrss the cuntry are cutting back n music classes t save mney. Wrse, sme schls have never had music classes t begin with. Music prgrams in public schls als help t add t a student's sense f pride and self- cnfidence. Teens tday have t many learning tasks. Besides, they have family prblems, self
-cnfidence prblems, relatinship trubles, and chices abut drugs and alchl. All f these can stp academic success, but music educatin can help. A study by The Texas Cmmissin n Drug and Alchl Abuse fund that students wh tk part in schl music prgrams were less likely t turn t drugs. Music prgrams encurage students t wrk tgether t prduce an excellent perfrmance.
Music crsses language, class, cultural and plitical bundaries ( 界 限 ). Music allws students frm different cuntries t cnnect. Fr example, at a schl talent shw, a new Japanese student played a pian duet ( 二重奏) with an American classmate. Althugh they culd nt cmmunicate verbally (口头上), they were able t read the music in rder t play the duet. Tw students frm different cultures wrked as a team with self - cnfidence and cmmn purpse thrugh music.
The gift f music is priceless. We need t be sure t have necessary music classes fr all students. The wrld is lsing its music, and putting music int schls is the first step t get it back.
Educatin with music classes culd.
waste a lt mre mney frm parents
help students imprve their schl wrk
lead t a lt f emtinal prblems easily
have a bad influence n the quality f educatin
The tw studies seem t shw that.
students with great success attended music lessns
nt all students tk part in music lessns
music plays an imprtant rle in students' success
students having music classes are better in all lessns
The example in Paragraph 4 mainly suggests that.
Japan has a gd internatinal relatinship with America
different cultures have different styles f music
music makes crss-brder cmmunicatin pssible
Japanese and American students are gd at playing the pian
What is the best title fr the text?
