In October of 2018, doctors told his parents that he suffered a brain tumor(肿瘤).Two thieves who specialized in stealing packages from people 's front gates had no idea that one of those packages contained a WWE wrestling belt belonging to Timothy. At the time,  the belt was on the front gate of Sergio Moriera's house, whose job was decorating stuff.Timothy's father doesn't make a lot of money. But he wanted to give his son an amazing gift, and 1 told him I would do everything for free. l said, "Just ship it over and I'll do everything you want on the belt, and he'll have the belt of a lifetime.'" he said. When the belt was taken, Sergio was extremely disturbed, I want them to know they took hope from a 5-year-old boy who is looking forward to that item coming back to him.. You stole that from him. You broke a child's heart.Timothy's father shared what that belt meant to his son," Timothy would not go anywhere without that belt ... Most kids have balls, while he had a belt." All hope was lost. Then something unexpected happened. “l saw two women appeared at the gate. They put down the bag there. My guard went over and I realized what was happening. That bag contained the stolen wrestling belt,” Sergio said. The two women apologized to Sergio. They said that they were thrown out of a friend's apartment after the friend saw the news report of the theft on TV. In fact, they were trying to kick a drug habit. Thieves Return Wrestling Belt to the Sick BoyCIndonesia has an ambitious biofuel program, which promotes the use of crude palm oil (CPO)(棕榈油), in increasingly higher mixes with conventional diesel(柴油) to reduce the non-renewable element and increase the renewable. Currently 30 percent is CPO and 70 percent is diesel. And it has been believed to become one of the key contributors for Indonesia's action plan for meeting its carbon-emissions-reduction(减少碳排放) target. Of course it has an additional benefit as well inreducing Indonesia's dependence on expensive oil imports.During a recent Group of 20 conference, an official from Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry(ESDM) stated thatbiofuels are vital for the development of a green economy to achieve a just and people-centered energy transition. According to ESDM, Indonesia produced 16.3 million kiloliters (kl) of B30-biodiesel in 2021, a significant increase from 13.3 million kl in2020, giving the government the confidence to expand the biofuel program and funding. However, the most positive direction to take is the processing of used cooking oil into biofuel as this makes use of a readily available and massively under-recycled product. Every hotel, restaurant and cafe has used cooking oil and then usually just throws it away, which wastes a valuable resource and pollutes the places where it goes at the same time! Recycling and processing the used cooking oil is a great way to make biofuel, which can be organized on a city level through the hotel and restaurant associations, and at the residential level through the RT/RW network. The use of CPO, while better than the use of petrol based oil, still has the stigma of the origins of the artificial forests which have all replaced primary forests over the last 50 years, and therefore cannot claim 100 percent sustainability. However, using grown and replaceable resources is better than the non-renewable route. The best of all is trying to do at least a semi-circular economy approach with the repurposing of the used cooking oil. Let us hope there will be an entire petrol-purifying plant for this in the near future as well.28.What contribution has the biofuel program made for Indonesia?A. Decreasing the renewable resources.B. Helping reduce the release of carbon.C. Increasing profit by exporting biofuel. D. Gaining total independence on foreign oil.29. What can be inferred from the third paragraph?A. Every restaurant has recycled the used cooking oil.B. We can cook with the abandoned cooking oil.C. The government is responsible for the wasted oil.D. Used cooking oil for processing biofuels is sufficient.30. What does the underlined word “stigma” in the last paragraph probably mean?A. Minor fault.  B. Challenge.  C. Trick.   D. Strong point.31. What is the author's attitude towards the future of the program?A. Reserved.  B. Negative.  C. Optimistic.  D. Curious.DThe World Health Organization (WHO) reports Parkinson's disease(帕金森病) is currently the fastest growing neurological condition worldwide. It harms the brain and often causes patients to lose the ability to control their movements. Researchers note that what is challenging to cure such patients is that early signs of Parkinson's disease are not easy to identify. Many signs only appear years after the disease sets in. Researchers have investigated existing methods for detecting the disease before it has a chance to develop. These included examinations of brain images. But these methods are costly and require specialized medical centers.Dina Katabi is a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT. She helped lead the research. She said the act of breathing has always been connected to Parkinson's disease. This connection led the research team to consider the potential of detecting the disease from one's breathing without looking at movements. Previous studies have shown that breathing pattern slinked to Parkinson's disease can appear years before other signs.Based on the above, American researchers have developed an artificial intelligence(AI) method to identify Parkinson's disease. This means the Al system can be an early predictor of the disease. The system works by measuring a person's breathing patterns during sleep. It can also measure the severity of disease and record its progression. The collected data is then processed through what there searchers call a neural(神经的)network, which is a computer system built to act like the human brain.Experiments showed that with just one night of sleep, the Al system was able to detect Parkinson's disease with up to 86 percent accuracy. With 12 nights of data, the rate went up to 95percent.The researchers say the simplicity of the tool will enable many more people to be tested for the disease in their homes. They said this can especially help people in traditionally underserved communities, as well as individuals living in rural areas or with limited abilities to visit hospitals.32.What is a barrier to treat Parkinson's disease?A. The patients can't move.B. It's hard to discover its early signs.C. Brain images are difficult to examine.D. No testing equipment has been invented.33. How can a doctor obtain more accurate data with the Al system?A. By detecting more nights of sleep.B. By calculating the data more carefully.C. By examining more aspects of the patient.D. By measuring sleeping patterns the whole day.34.How is the new method different from previous ones?A. It can reach more patients.B. It's more expensive.C. It only measures patients' breathing. D. It requires specialists with better skills.35.What is the text mainly about?A. Significance of advanced technology.B. The new cure for Parkinson's disease.C. Identification of Parkinson's disease by AI.D. An effective method to improve breathing.第二节(5小题;每小题2.5, 满分12.5)根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。The hot summer months come with unbearable heat.
