After some more time had passed, it was time for the trial of Muff Potter for the murder of Dr. Robinson in the graveyard. Tom found Huckleberry Finn.

“Huck, have you told anyone what we saw?”

“Of course not !”

“I feel sorry for Muff sometimes. He didn't kill Dr.Robinson, but I think they will hang him.”

“I do too, Tom. He never hurts anybody and he taught me how to fish.”

“He fixed my kite once. Maybe we could help him escape.”

“They'd only catch him again.”

“That’s true.”

They went to the jail and brought Muff Potter some tobacco and matches.

“Thanks, boys. You have been very kind to me. Nobody else is kind to me. Let me shake your hands. They're only little hands, but they helped me a lot.”

Tom went home, feeling very bad.

Hestayed near the courthouse for the next few days. Injun Joe told his story again. Everybody believed it .They all thought that Muff Potter would be hanged. Even his lawyer looked sad. That night, Tom felt worse than ever. He went to see Muff’s lawyer. The next day, the witnesses told their stories. Muff's lawyer spoke.

“Call Tom Sawyer!”

Everybody was surprised. Tom came into the court. He told the judge what he and Huckleberry had seen. Injun Joe was frightened when he heard this. He jumped out of the window of the courthouse and ran away.

Now Tom was really famous. His name was in the newspaper He enjoyed being famous, but at nighttime he was very frightened. Everybody looked for Injun Joe, but nobody could find him. Tom dreamed about him every night.

The days slowly passed by. Tom's fearful dream of Injun Joe was replaced by another, more pleasant, dream. He and Huckleberry decided to dig for buried treasure. Tom had read about it in a book.

Nature is our home, so we should not pollute it and hurt the wild animals. If you don’t cherish or protect it, we’ll be punished. We have polluted the environment badly, such as the air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, waste pollution.

What’s more, we kill many wild animals. So the number of them becomes fewer and fewer. For example, in 2010, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) brought bad news that the world’s tiger population had reached an all-time low record. There were just 3,200 tigers left in the wild, about half as many as there had been ten years before.

Now there’s good news: Tigers could be making a comeback. There were about 4,000 tigers in the world in 2019. In July, India, which has 70% of the world’s tigers, said that its tiger population had reached nearly 3,000. That’s a 30% rise in just four years.

India’s success was years in the making. In 2006, habitat loss made the number of India’s tigers reduce to only 1,411. So the Indian government decided to take a stronger plan of protection. Since its Wildlife Protection Act became law, India has given tigers a high level of protection. With the help of the protection, India created 50 reserves, where tigers can spread and hunt.

But challenges remain for tigers all over Asia. People hunt for their skin and sell their teeth. They’re still in danger. So we should try our best to stop the animals dying out.

Blood donation, also called blood banking, is a wonderful thing to do. It is an easy and direct way to contribute to social work and help the community. It helps to save lives and helps those who are in need of blood but poor or the heavy loss of blood during operations or in accidents.

You are able to give or donate blood every three or four months, and it is a great way to make a huge difference to someone’s life and you can always take pride in it after making valuable contributions to society. Blood donation is not a big problem, but you need to keep a few points in mind.

Before donating blood, make sure that the ferrum (铁) level in your body is high enough and for that you should take a healthy diet. Do not go for blood donation on an empty stomach. You should follow the correct process so that everything goes well. After having a balanced diet, you will feel strong and comfortable to donate blood. Afterwards, you will not feel weak.

For required hemoglobin (血红蛋白) in your body, drink lots of juice and other drinks. Fruit juice, such as apple juice is very good for increasing the blood level in your body.

For a good blood flow in your body, drink at least 6-7 glasses of water every day. A day before and after giving blood, don’t take alcohol (酒). Do not smoke half an hour before giving blood.

When you are going for blood donation, be relaxed. During the blood donation activity, breathe deeply and try to calm yourself. Don’t join in some other activities.

When you donate blood, you are making the effort to save someone’s life. Blood donation is a very simple and fast process, but you need to take care of yourself after donating blood. Proper care helps to reduce side effects. The following are a few tips that will help you out.

Take a rest for 15 minutes after the donation. It helps you to feel relaxed.

Eat something and drink juice before leaving the blood donation centre. Make sure that you have meals after donating blood. If you want to smoke, you should wait for one hour after the process. Don’t do activities like driving right away. 

Finally, take pride in yourself because you have done a great thing in helping to save someone’s life. Blood donation is a very important activity.
