It’s common to see the coffee art, but have you seen the art in a cup of tea? This kind of tea art is called Dian Cha, a main tea drinking method in the Song Dynasty. The process of making it is not easy but people really enjoy Dian Cha especially because of the nice patter on the surface of the tea.
The tea art begins with adding hot water over the fine powder* tea. This action creates a paste*on the tea. Then add more water while whisking* by hand with a bamboo whisk. It usually requires whisking about 200 times before the thick foam*appears. Then, one can begin drawing. But drawing on the tea foam is not the same thing as drawing on the paper. One may use the hard teaspoon against the soft foam, which requires great attention. Unlike normal spoons, the teaspoon used in Dian Cha is quite thin and has a pointed end to help to draw, just like a pen.
In the Song Dynasty, many famous people regarded Dian Cha as an important free-time activity. Emperor Song Huizong even wrote a book called Treatise on Tea which included some details of tea-whisking. According to the book, good tea should be white and fine. The better the tea was, the whiter it should be, and the longer the foam should last.
In 2019, Dian Cha was listed as a cultural heritage* in Zhenjiang, China. A growing number of people now want to learn and spread this traditional skill. Han Zheming, a designer from Shanghai, has created nearly 200 images on the tea and put the process of Dian Cha online. “I want more people to understand and appreciate the beauty of Dian Cha.” Han says.

A. Better tea has much less foam.
B. Han Zheming tries to spread this tea art

D. Many famous people wrote Treatise on Tea together.
( ) 22. The passage is probably taken from a magazine about_________.

At a weather station, a man came out of the room, holding a huge balloon. The balloon is not used to send him into the air or offer him Internet service. It is a weather balloon, an important tool to help predict* the weather condition. It began to appear in the late 1800s and has been in use from then on.
A basic weather balloon includes the following three parts:
· A balloon: it is made of a material called neoprene about 0.051mm thick at launch*.
· A radiosonde: it is the instrument box connected below the parachute. It can collect data about temperature, air pressure and GPS position, and send data to ground stations for analysis every one to two seconds.
· A parachute: it is used to lower the radiosonde safely to the ground. It is usually between the balloon and the radiosonde.
The balloon is launched from the special launch place. As soon as the balloon starts rising into the air, the radiosonde starts sending data back. As it reaches a certain height, the air inside the balloon starts expanding*.The balloon grows larger and larger as it rises into thinner air and finally it explodes*. When the radiosonde starts falling to the ground, the small parachute will open and gently guide it down back to Earth. It’s important to protect the radiosonde, as it can be put in use again. This will lead to a huge saving in cost.
Altogether, a weather balloon only costs about a few hundred dollars while a weather rocket* can cost several hundred thousand dollars for just a single flight. Because of it, the weather balloon is widely used. For example, the weather data collected by the balloon is extremely important for predicting natural disasters like tornadoes, storms or typhoons. So thousands of people are able to make preparations and even move to a safer area beforehand.
Today, specially-designed balloons are used by NASA to perform near-space experiments. Before launching the rocket, a weather balloon will be sent up to keep an eye on the weather conditions nearby. NASA has even sent high-altitude balloons to explore around Mars.

Rebecca stood by her father, looking out the windows of Scituate Lighthouse. There were no clouds in the sky—nothing at all to give warning of any danger. British ships used to attack towns along the American coast including Scituate, but no British soldiers had been seen for a long time.
Earlier that day, her father had decided he would go to town to pick up food.
“Now, Rebecca,” he began, “I want you to take care of all the things in the lighthouse when I go to town.”
“I’ll help.” Rebecca promised. Her father hadn’t been gone long when Rebecca happened to look out of the window at the ocean. What she saw nearly made her heart stop. It was a ship La Hogue from the British army.
Rebecca, Abigail, and their mother stood together, shocked. Mother told the girls to watch the ship while she ran outside to find their brother. She had to send him to the nearby village to tell the home guard. The girls watched helplessly as the British ship came near. Two small boats full of soldiers were lowered off the side. She knew it was time to run.
As she put down the stairs, Rebecca stopped when she saw her fife*and drum.“It might work....,” she thought. Rebecca took them along.
She and her sister hurried out of the lighthouse and hid among the big trees. Looking through the trees, they saw soldiers coming closer and closer. Stopping to catch her breath, Rebecca looked towards their village. It seemed far away. She wondered if her brother was there yet, warning the villagers about the British soldiers.
Rebecca handed Abigail her drum. “We’ve got to play Yankee Doodle.” Abigail opened her mouth to argue, but her sister silenced her immediately. “You know the home guard always goes forward along with the music of a drum and fife” Abigail nodded. Rebecca’s face was pale, but she held her fife firmly.
The lively rhythm of Yankee Doodle soon filled the air. When the proud and powerful music reached the ears of the British soldiers, they stopped going forward and looked at one another nervously.
The wind was strong and cold but it didn’t stop Rebecca and her sister from playing.
The British captain feared that if his men landed on the beach, they would be walking into a trap*so he sent out a signal for them to return to the ship.
When the home guard from the village got to the lighthouse, they were amazed to find the La Hogue had gone away. They praised Rebecca and gave her a big hug.
