(2022春·山东·高一统考期中)Europe is the perfect place for a holiday. Every corner of the continent is bursting with history, culture and sights. The countries are so very close to one another, and yet so completely different.
Sweden
Sweden is a brilliant destination for a campervan (露营车) holiday, with hundreds of well-appointed camping sites suitable for vehicles. Head north to Lapland in the Arctic Circle and you’ll find true wildernesses where you can truly get close to nature. Head here between June and mid-July and you’ll be able to take in the midnight sunshine. If you’re looking for great nightlife, head to Gothenburg, Stockholm or Malmo.
Germany
There are massive industrial cities, rolling plains, towering mountains, deep forests and long, sparkling rivers. It’s not just what’s to see that makes Germany so great, but the ease of seeing everything. All these wonderful locations are all linked by one of the world’s best road systems.
Scotland
Scotland has something for everyone: cities with rich nightlife, incredible scenery, wonderful lochs and medieval (中世纪的) castles. If you want to get away from it all, then the Highlands are one of the least populated areas in the whole of Europe. Hikers will love the Cairngorms – the largest national park in the UK.

(2022春·江西·高一期中联考)In this rapidly developing world, the radio is one of the most affected media platforms. People can now easily download music from the internet, or listen to it online.
Radio was known as a relief to pressure in the past. Therefore, George Oliver realized that radio should be brought back and compete with the existing music streaming platforms. Knowing that it was nearly impossible to live a life without the internet in this age, George decided to take the radio online. He founded Realmuzic. net on October 28, 2015.
Launching an online radio site and maintaining it wasn’t easy. To realize his dream of reviving (复兴) the radio culture, he faced many challenges, and turned a deaf ear to those against his idea. George and his DJs team, who were also motivated by the same dream, put in all their efforts to make this happen. Just like any other business, Realmuzic. net began with a hard start. Not many people knew about this online radio station and they didn’t want to go back to the radio music streaming service.
They decided to target the 80’s and 90’s kids and picked songs that played 24/7 on Realmuzic. net. They saw a great increase in their site-visits. Their perfect song selection brought back the good old times they spent listening lo the radio stations.
Their next step was to bridge the gap between Generation Z and radio. As they were born in the internet time, the radio seemed foreign to them. Challenges excited George, so he wanted to make radio appealing for Generation Z.
Today Realmuzic. net attracts 52 million music lovers across 120 countries. As radio had coped with technology, Realmuzic. net is here to stay and has a long way to go!
24.Why did George want to bring the radio back to life?
A.He had been a radio fan since his childhood. B.He was worried about online music streaming.
C.He knew radio’s effect on reducing pressure. D.He was inspired by the rise of radio audience.
25.What was the difficulty George and his team faced?
A.They failed to get support from the government. B.His online radio station wasn’t widely known.
C.Some of his team members ignored his ideas. D.It was hard to pick songs suitable for all ages.
26.What can we learn about Generation Z from Paragraph 5?
A.They’re not familiar with radio. B.The internet is foreign to them.
C.They start their careers online. D.They like to take up challenges.
27.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.Bridge the Gap the Internet Brings About B.Celebrate Our Traditions by Going Online
C.Despite Challenges, Traditions Stay Active D.Keep the Radio Alive Through Realmuzic. net

In a world where nearly 6 million fingerprint records of government employees are stolen in one computer hack(非法侵入), and here millions of people are victims of identity theft every year, the next step in cyber security may well be mapping your brain.
Researchers at Binghamton University, State University of New York are working on a biometric(生物特征识别的)system that records how your brain reacts to certain images. With a little more polishing, the scientists’ brainchild could become the way you get into a safe deposit box, your office or past scanners at the airport. It could replace the password for your online banking, your email or your social media accounts.
They started their project by measuring the brain waves of 30 subjects. The subjects were fitted with a cap that had 30 electrodes(电极)attached to it, and then shown various images and symbols — celebrity faces, words, pictures of food — on a computer screen in 200-millisecond bursts. The brain’s reaction was recorded.
The idea is that every time a person needs to use a “password”, he or she goes through the same procedure, and the results are matched with their firsttime reaction. If the “brainprint” is cracked — like what happened with the fingerprint records — then the system is merely reset by running another set of images and collecting a different set of brain waves. “Even if that was stolen, you could just cancel it and record one to something else”, says professor Laszlo.
Laszlo and her team have shown that their system can be 100 percent accurate. So one of the more difficult parts of making the system practical already has been overcome. Now, they’re spending much time recording accurate brainprints with as few as three electrodes, which could make recording in the future as easy as wearing a pair of special glasses. They’re also working with cheaper materials and different methods to see if they can bring the cost down.
28.What does the underlined word “brainchild” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.The brain function. B.The fingerprint record.
C.The biometric system. D.The online password.
29.Why were the images and symbols shown to the subjects?
A.To create their brainprints. B.To check the brain’s reaction.
C.To match brainprints with pictures. D.To connect brain waves to electrodes.
30.What will happen when a brainprint fails?
A.A spare one will be ready beforehand. B.A new one will be set again.
C.The users’ security will be leaked. D.The fingerprint record will replace it.
31.What are the researchers doing with the program now?
A.Making it user-friendly. B.Improving its accuracy.
C.Recording more brainprints. D.Increasing the number of electrodes.

(2022春·河南·高一期中联考)Ants have the ability to find out cancerous cells in humans, a new study, suggesting they could be used to treat cancer in future.
Researchers from the French National Centre for Scientific Research(CNRS)discovered that Formica fusca(丝光褐林蚁)has a well-developed sense of smell. “It was able to tell cancerous cells from healthy cells in humans, thanks to their sense of smell,” limited experiment showed. “But more practical tests must be carried out before they could be used in hospitals”, the team said. “They suggest that in future, ants could be better than dogs when it comes to find out cancerous cells in humans.”
To do their research, the scientists performed tests with 36 ants, smelling cells in a laboratory. First, the specialists let the ants smell a sample of cancerous human cells. This odor(气味)was then linked with a reward of sugar. In a second step, the researchers offered the ants two different odors. One was anew smell and the second was the smell of the cancerous cells. Once this test was successful, the researchers exposed the ants to different cancerous cells. Finally, the scientists found that ants could judge between cancerous and healthy cells and between two cancerous cells.
This isn’t the first time that scientists have used the animal sense of smell to find out cancerous cells. “Dogs have also been used for finding out of cancer,” the researchers explained. However, training them to do so takes several months to a year. On the other hand, “Compared to dogs, ants have higher potential, are capable of very quickly, at lower cost, and are more efficient.” the researchers point out.
“Our approach could hopefully be used to a range of other complex odor tasks including the drugs, outdated food, or other diseases, like malaria and diabetes.” the team explained.
32.Why is Formica fusca able to find cancerous cells?
A.It has a better sense of smell. B.It learns quickly and efficiently
C.It is able to tell healthy cells in humans. D.Training it takes less time and money than dogs.
33.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.The purpose of the scientists. B.The process of the experiment
C.The result of the research D.The ways of the test.
34.What is the researchers’ attitude towards the study?
A.Negative. B.Doubtful. C.Concerned. D.Positive.
35.What’s the purpose of the author writing the text?
A.To explain ants are more important than dogs.
B.To suggest ants should be protected from now on.
C.To show ants and dogs are both humans’ friends.
D.To introduce ants will be more useful than imagined.

(2022春·广东·高一期中联考)Being a 12-year-old girl is hard, and being a 12-year-old girl who has trouble in learning math makes it even harder.
I was standing in front of my mom with my unfinished math homework in my hand, feeling like I was standing in front of a roadblock (路障) that was taller than my imagination.
“I can't do it, Mom! I don't understand it!” Although I couldn't see clearly through my teary eyes, I could still feel my mom's face was filled with concern.
“It's okay. I understand it's hard. You know that 1 struggled with the same issue before, but it can't decide who you are or how smart you are! Now repeat after me!” Mom said in a kind but demanding voice, “I did it!" She waited for me to follow her. When I tried to speak, the only thing that escaped my mouth was a small sob (抽噎). With one strong loving arm around me, my mom used the other hand to dry the tears that I was no longer able to control.
“Can I see your homework, honey?” As instructed, I slowly handed over the paper. After a short while, she excitedly announced, “You got the fifth question right!” Shrugging (耸肩) my shoulders, I replied, “Yeah, but the rest are probably wrong.” Mom smiled, “Although you got some answers wrong, it doesn't make the answer you got right any less important!”
I wanted to believe her. It was almost easy to let her positive words affect me in the moments when it was just her and me. However, every time I was sitting next to the kids of my age and watching them complete work that I couldn't understand, the confidence my mom gave me seemed to disappear suddenly.
