During the summer holiday, my family and I visited Singapore. We first took a 2-hour flight to Guangzhou. Then it took us another 4 hours to fly to Singapore. We stayed there for six days and visited many famous tourist spots. Out of all of them, the one I liked most was Universal Studios.

For people who love movies, Universal Studios is an ideal place to visit. Divided into different parts based on movie themes, Universal Studios is like an amusement park for movie fans. We looked through the website (网站) before visiting. People who want to enjoy the excitement of going on rides should go counter-clockwise (逆时针方向的) around the park. I don’t care for rides like that, so I decided to go clockwise.

The first part we visited had a boat ride that was based on the movie Madagascar (2005). We sat in a small boat and watched a revised version (改编版) of the movie. When I was sitting in the boat, I looked around and saw the main characters from the movie waving at me. It reminded me of my childhood--the good old days when I was too little to care about anything.

There are many other things to do at Universal Studios, such as watching a 4D movie, seeing an acrobatics (杂技) show, or eating Malaysian food. This trip was one of the best adventures of my teenage years.

    26.  How long did it take the writer to get to Singapore by plane?

    A. 2 hours.         B. 4 hours.        C. 6 hours.

    27.  What does the underlined word probably mean in Chinese?

      A. 嘈杂的        B. 刺激的     C. 完美的

    28.  At Universal Studios, the writer _________.

    A. went on a boat ride

    B. watched the film Madagascar

    C. saw a fashion show

    29.  What might the writer say about the trip?

    A. Although it was cold in the daytime, we had great fun today.

    B. I was excited to see characters from Madagascar waving to us.

    C. I really enjoyed the six-day journey with my classmates.

    30.  What can we learn from the passage?

    A. The writer is not a movie fan.

    B. The writer went counter-clockwise around the Universal Studios.

    C. The writer looked up information online before visiting the park.

    D

With her eyes always feeling tired, 16-year-old Sun Run went to the hospital with her parents in January. She was shocked when she found out that her eyesight dropped from 5.0 to 4.6 in only 5 months. “A few of my friends have had the same experience lately,” Sun said.

In fact, poor eyesight among Chinese primary and middle school students rose from 59.2 percent to 70.6 percent in the first six months of 2020, according to the Ministry of Education (教育部).

To protect students’ eyesight, the Chinese government has worked out new requirements(要求) for schools. For example, according to the requirements, the size of text in students’ textbooks should be no smaller than nine-point (小五号).

Teachers should also avoid using projectors (投影仪) or other multimedia equipment (多媒体设备) that are too bright, Beijing Daily reported.

There are also requirements for desk and classroom lights. For example, these lights should give off as little blue light as possible.

Blue light is bad for our eyes, as it can kill the photoreceptor cells (感光细胞) we need, according to Harvard Medical School. Many of the electronic devices (电子设备) we use every day, including our phones and computer screens, give off blue light.

Chinese government has also taken other steps to protect students’ eyesight in China. In May 2020, schools were asked to make sure that students have at least two hours of outdoor activities a day.

    31.  Through Sun’s story, the writer wants to tell us that _________.

    A. she should go to the hospital earlier

    B. most Chinese students wear glasses

    C. many Chinese students have bad eyesight

    32.  Over the first half of 2020, _________ more Chinese students got nearsighted.

    A. 11.4 percent B. 59.2 percent  C. 70.6 percent

    33.  To protect students’ eyes, the Chinese government is asking _________.

    a. schools to use textbooks with larger text

    b. teachers to avoid using overly-bright multimedia equipment

    c. schools not to use blue bulbs in classrooms

    d. schools to use lights that give off less blue light

    A. abc       B. abd     C. acd

    34.  Paragraph 6 is mainly about _________.

    A. how to stop the use of blue light

    B. how to use blue light correctly

    C. how blue light harms us and where it’s from

    35.  Which sentence is TRUE according to the passage?

        A. Multimedia equipment that is too bright may harm our eyesight.

      B. Only mobile phones give off blue light.

      C. Students should have at most 2 hours of outdoor activities.

I’ve thought long and hard about how Chinese parents can get away with what they do. I think there are three big differences between the Chinese and Western parental mind-sets(父母的思维方式).

86.43 percent of Chinese college students enjoy bullet-screen comments (弹幕评论) when watching videos, as they like the interaction (互动) with others. 75.13 percent of them believe that these comments can bring them happiness.

China Youth Daily has done a survey on “Generation Z bullet-screen comment culture”. 11,976 college students across the country took part in it. Generation Z often refers to people who were born between 1996-2010.

The survey results showed that 61.34 percent of the students often choose to open the function (功能) of bullet-screen comments when watching videos. However, 38.66 percent choose not to; the main reason is that these comments may cover the pictures and make the experience bad.

Huang Xiaobei is one of the college students. She first saw bullet-screen comments when she was watching a movie called Tiny Times. “I couldn’t close the comments, so I had to watch them,” Huang said. However, after this experience, Huang Xiaobei has changed from “hating the comments, being bored of them” to “thinking it to be very interesting.”

According to the survey, 67.27 percent of the students regard bullet-screen comments as a way to express their views; 63.05 percent of them believe that the comments serve as a good supplement (补充) to the video, and 53.19 percent of them believe that bullet-screen comments help them find like-minded people all over the world.

So far, bullet-screen comments have become a way of interactive communication widely accepted by people and progressed from a simple tool to a special culture.

    41. Who does Generation Z refer to?

    42. Why do some students close the comments when watching videos?

    43. When did Huang Xiaobei first see bullet-screen comments?

    44. Does Huang Xiaobei hate bullet-screen comments now?
