Xi Zi was bullied(被霸凌) for almost 10 years from junior high school to college. But it wasn’t her mistake.

For Xi Zi, school wasn’t a happy place. Boys in her junior high school made fun of her for wearing old-fashioned(过时的) clothing and always called her a “tomboy(假小子)”. During breaks, Xi Zi always stayed in the front seat of the classroom. She usually played alone.

When she was in senior high school, she thought things would be different. However, Xiao Zhou, one of her classmates, spread the story of Xi Zi’s past to classmates until everyone isolated(孤立) her.

At college, the same thing happened again. She was asked to move out of the dormitory(宿舍), because she often returned late for joining activities in school clubs. In her third year of college, Xi Zi was told she had a special disease: Asperger’s syndrome.

So Xi Zi began researching school bullying online. She learned that educational drama(教育剧) could stop it happening by giving students different roles. And games can also help children make new friends. The idea of making an anti-school bullying game took shape(成形). She invented a game, called The Choices of Transfer Students, and wrote stories about children from special groups.

In August 2021, Xi Zi’s game got a big prize. She hoped that speaking out about her experiences would help bullied children fight for their voice. “I hope they know that in the face of bullying, they can also fight back,” said Xi Zi.

China’s homemade sci-fi film The Wandering Earth II has become the newest hit. The new movie is more touching than the first movie The Wandering Earth I in 2019. Humans plan to build more than 10,000 huge engines on the Earth to move the Earth away from the solar system(太阳系) for a new home. But it is not easy. In order to save the Earth, a group of young people have to start a race against time for life and death.

“The creators of The Wandering Earth II are very similar to the characters in the movie. Their great courage(勇气) and creative spirit(精神) are the engine to push the ‘planet’ of sci-fi into the future,” said Liu Cixin, writer of the popular story The Wandering Earth and the sci-fi novel The Three-Body Problem. “We all know that China’s sci-fi still has a long way to go. Luckily, there are a group of people who are working very hard for it.” From The Wandering Earth I 4 years ago to The Wandering Earth II this year, director Guo Fan always hopes people can remember that because of love for the homeland and hometown, we don’t leave the Earth in a spaceship, but choose to wander with the planet.

Two strong earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria on February 6th. About 160,000 buildings fell down and nearly 45,000 people died in the earthquakes. Many people were in trouble. Turkish President described it as Turkey’s worst earthquake since 1939.

International search and rescue(救援) teams rushed to Turkey to help. China sent an 82-member China Search and Rescue Team. Some Chinese civilian(民间的) rescue teams also went to help.

On February 8th evening, China Search and Rescue Team found a pregnant(怀孕的) woman under the falling building. After more than six hours of rescue, the woman was rescued by Wang Mo, the head of China Search and Rescue Team, and his team members.

On the morning of Feb. 12th, Wang Mo heard a man’s voice from the ruins(废墟) of a five-story building. At that time, about 150 hours had passed since the earthquake happened. The rescue team took action right away and speeded up the rescue. After more than four hours of efforts, the man was successfully rescued.

As of Feb. 14th, China Search and Rescue Team had helped save six lives and found eight casualties(罹难者). The Blue Sky Rescue Team, one of the Chinese civilian rescue teams, had saved seven lives and found 78 casualties.
