Alexa is a young girl from America and she lives in New York with her parents. She is not in good health. She knows she needs to do something new in life. There is an animal sanctuary(庇护所) not far from her home. Alexa’s father thinks that she can volunteer there. It sounds great, so Alexa goes there and starts volunteering.

The sanctuary is not very big, but there are many different kinds of farm animals. Alexa likes the place very much. “For the first time in my life, I feel like this is what I want to do.” she says.

Alexa works with animals for months. When Sharon, Alexa’s mother, wants to move(搬家), she asks her daughter to move with her. Alexa is happy to do that. And she wants to open(开办) her own animal sanctuary.
