(2022·江苏南京·校联考二模)Sustainable (可持续的) housing refers to environmentally safe building designs. This type of housing can, either fully or partly, use renewable energy, such as sun or water, to power the homes. There are many different types of sustainable housing.
Green roof homes are buildings with roofs that include different kinds of plants. The plants bring many advantages to the home, such as stopping noises from outside. Green roofs also often help keep the building cooler during the summer and warmer in the winter. They can be used as gardens for growing fruits, vegetables or flowers that improve the air quality not only for the home, but also for the nearby area.
Underground homes are another type of sustainable housing. These are usually made much like traditional homes, but are built partly or fully underground. Some have moss-covered (青苔覆盖的) roofs. Many of these houses make use of geothermal (地热) energy, or heat stored inside the Earth, to regulate temperature. Besides being underground, many of these houses have special-placed windows that allow natural sunlight to brighten them.
Glass houses have walls made almost totally from glass. This allows natural light to warm the whole home during the day. These homes often turn sunlight into electricity that can power the home at night. This system reduces electricity bills and is friendly to the environment.
Another type of sustainable housing is floating homes, or houseboats. These houses float on water and are typically light-weight and small in size. Some of them are filled with argon gas (氩气) which helps to keep the house afloat. Many floating homes make use of solar or power got from water flows to make electricity and heat.

B.Underground homes use heat stored inside the houses to regulate temperature.
C.Glass houses use natural sunlight to warm the house during day and night.

15.We can infer (推断) that people design sustainable housing in order to ______.
A.earn a lot of money B.make the earth beautiful
C.be friendly to the environment D.make the housing special

If you want to introduce China, you won’t want to miss Chinese literature. Now you are reading some dialogues about it.
Today, four translators share their experience of Chinese literature with us. They are:
Petko, aged 43 from Bulgaria
Annelous, aged 34 from the Netherlands
Joachim, aged 25 from France
Mai, aged 28 from Egypt
Question 1: How did you get interested in Chinese literature?
Petko: It all started with a movie I watched when I was a boy — The Shaolin Temple. That movie gave me so many reasons to fall in love with China. I was amazed by Chinese Kungfu, of course — everyone loves Kungfu. I also thought the Chinese language sounded so beautiful, and I found that I like Chinese music too — I just love the movie’s theme tune, Song of the Shepherd.
Annelous: I became interested in languages at a young age. When I started high school, I began reading books about Chinese history and culture, and this encouraged me to choose Chinese Studies as my major at university.
Question 2: What interests you most among all the works?
Joachim: I just go with what I like and what I am interested in. I’ve translated several short stories by Mo Yan. Right now, I’m doing research into popular literature in Shanghai.
Mai: I don’t care if a writer is popular or not. What interests me most is the work itself. I’ve translated some works by writers such as Xi Murong and Bi Shumin. I also keep a close eye on what’s being self-published online by new, young writers.
Question 3: _____________________
Petko: Thirty-six Stratagems has sold more than 1,000 copies in Bulgaria. When you consider that here the best writer can usually hope for is to sell a few hundred copies of their work, Thirty-six Stratagems is a best-seller here.

China has done a lot to protect the environment. Here is a passage about birdwatching. Please read and tell the world about this.
Chinese tourism website Qyer worked with animal protection organizations to give a list of eight places in China to watch birds along with some do’s and don’ts of birdwatching. This list was announced on April 1, International Bird Day.
The tips introduced the living conditions of wild birds and the importance of birdwatchers avoiding influencing the lives of these birds.
Baiwangshan Forest Park and Olympic Forest Park in Beijing are among the recommended on the list, as Beijing is an important passage for birds flying from north to south. It’s reported that over 260 kinds of birds take the Olympic Forest Park as their cover.
Different birds live in the wetlands of Dongying city, Shandong province, and a high-power binocular helps people to watch them clearly.
Spring and summer is the time for baby birds to learn to fly. If one happens to find a baby bird that fell out of its nest(巢), one should put it back in the nest, a safe place nearby, or contact the local wildlife protection station and follow the advice of the members.
One should not take the baby bird home to raise because it's difficult to provide the nutrition(营养) that a baby bird needs. Also, it will be hard for the bird to return to the wild after being dependent on humans.
Qyer has been encouraging its users to have responsible travel(责任制旅行). According to the website, there is a 60 percent increase of interest in responsible travel from users in 2021 V.S. 2020. Most users said they were willing to change their way of travel to protect the environment.

There are many famous people in the history of China. Here is a story between two of them.
During the Spring and Auturmn Period (770-476BC) to the Warring States Period (475-221BC) in ancient China, there was a Taoist school (道家学派) and a representative of Taoism was Zhuang Zhou, known as Zhuangzi (庄子) in history.
One day, Zhuangzi and his friend Huizi (惠子) walked down to a river. Crossing it by a small bridge, they stopped to watch some fish swimming in the water. The two friends began to discuss whether fish are happy. After watching them for a while, Zhuangzi started, “These little fish are swimming freely around. How happy they must be!” Huizi asked, “But you are not a fish. How do you know that the fish are happy?”
Zhuangzi said, “But you are not me. How do you know that I don’t know whether fish are happy?” Huizi said, “I am not you, so of course I do not know how you think about it. But you are not a fish, so it is impossible that you know how fish think about it.” Zhuangzi said, “Let’s go back to the beginning. You ask me how I know what fish enjoy. Clearly, you believe that I know what fish enjoy—by asking me how I know it! Well, let me explain how. I know it by being beside this river.”
Children, which of them was right?
Zhuangzi said the fish were happy. Did he really know? He was not a fish, so of course he could not know. But he was happy in his heart, and he placed his own happiness onto the fish. Although having a great deal of knowledge, Zhuangzi was interested in neither being famous nor becoming rich. He was in love with nature and he wanted to be close to mountains and rivers, birds and animals. He devoted himself to searching for the beauty and interest of life. So, seeing a clear sky and fine weather, feeling a gentle breeze and watching fish swimming in pools made Zhuangzi naturally felt his heart filled with gladness. He considered everything in nature as his family, and of course he felt that fish had feelings, too.
Huizi, being a friend of Zhuangzi, a great thinker, was no common person. He was an excellent politician (政治家) of his day, and a senior official with a record of great achievements. How could he have either wish or interest to care about flowers, birds, and fish? He cared more about people, and not at all the world of nature. And so, the fact that he did not understand the enjoyment of fish is not surprising.

(2022·江苏南京·校联考二模)In ancient times, people tried to explain the world around them based on what they saw. People in ancient times saw that the sun came up from one side of the earth, moved across the sky and went down to the other side. Based on this observation, they believed that the sun travels around the earth. Going directly from observation to conclusion is called non-scientific thinking.
Here is an example of non-scientific thinking. Maybe you had a sick stomach, and ate a candy bar. An hour later, you found that you felt much better. You might conclude that it was the candy bar that made you feel better. But there are other possible reasons for the observation. Maybe you had taken some medicine an hour earlier, and it took a while to work. Maybe enough time had passed, and you would have felt better without eating the candy bar. Non-scientific thinking happens all the time.
The scientific method is a way of thinking that helps you to avoid making incorrect conclusions. It helps you to avoid non-scientific thinking. It reminds you to treat your first conclusion as one of several possible conclusions. It reminds you to gather evidence(证据)to support your conclusion. The four steps in the scientific method begin by questioning an observation, and end with a conclusion that is based on evidence. First, you can ask a question about your observation, such as, “What makes a sick stomach feel better?” Second, state a possible answer to the question, such as, “A candy bar makes a sick stomach feel better.” Third, test your guess, this can be done in many different ways. You could wait until you have a sick stomach again, eat a candy bar, and see what happens. Finally, think and conclude—think about what happened when you tested and you can make a conclusion.
37.The underlined word “observation” in Paragraph 1 means “________”.
A.watching carefully B.giving examples C.guessing quickly D.making conclusions
38.The purpose of the example in the second paragraph is to ________.
A.ask readers to take some medicine as early as they can
B.help readers understand what non-scientific thinking is
C.show how to make conclusions directly from observations
D.conclude that eating a candy bar can make people feel better
39.The last paragraph mainly talks about ________.
A.what makes non-scientific thinking
B.an example of non-scientific thinking
C.ways to make a sick stomach feel better
D.how to use the scientific method correctly
40.The text is most probably taken from ________.
A.an advertisement B.a movie poster C.a guide book D.a science magazine
(2022·江苏南京·校联考二模)Dennis didn’t feel like sleeping. He had gone to bed at the same time every night for as long as he could remember. He was tired of going to bed when his parents told him to. So one night, when fall seemed over, but it wasn’t yet winter, he decided he would stay up!
What Dennis didn’t realize is that staying awake at night is hard when your body needs to sleep. He tried everything he could think of to stop himself from falling asleep. He tried counting wolves(if counting sheep makes you sleepy, then counting wolves must surely do the opposite), but unfortunately it made him even more tired. He started to suspect that it was the counting, and not the choice of animal, that made people sleepy.
Dennis was just about ready to give up when he heard a squeak(吱吱叫)from his hamster(仓鼠)Charlie. He went over to Charlie’s cage, but it was empty. Dennis followed the sounds of squeaking until he found Charlie on the floor, looking behind the door. Dennis noticed that something back there was throwing things at Charlie! Coins, balls of paper, and even some stones were flying in Charlie’s direction, as he squeaked.
“What’s there, Charlie?” Dennis asked as he picked up the hamster and walked towards the door.
What he saw made him wonder if he had actually fallen asleep and not realized it.
“It’s a…it’s a rabbit!” he said. No bigger than Charlie(and no smaller), the rabbit wore a yellow shirt, a tiny pair of green pants, and a hat.
“Why are you throwing things at my hamster, rabbit?” asked Dennis.
“Why do you keep a vicious(凶猛的)hamster as a pet, human?” asked the rabbit. “Charlie is not vicious! More importantly, why are you in my room, rabbit?” asked Dennis. “That is an interesting question, human.”
“My name is not ‘human’, it’s Dennis.” Dennis said angrily. “I already know your name. And rabbits have names too!”
Dennis didn’t say anything for a moment, and neither did the rabbit. It was an awkward(尴尬的)silence for everyone except Charlie who, as usual, had fallen asleep shortly after Dennis picked him up.
“Well, what is your name then?” asked Dennis.

A.One night in late auturnn. B.One late afternoon in summer.

(2022·江苏南京·统考二模)Bimla knew that she wanted to go to university when she got her results. But she was worried that she would not be accepted by the other students once she got there.
Although she was always told at her school that she would get good grades(成绩)at university, she believed that other students would be better than her in many ways. “I know I got good grades at school, but I thought they wouldn’t be enough,” she said. Some of her friends thought she shouldn’t even think about going to university because of her poor family, but she didn’t agree with that and said, “I think university should be for everyone, no matter (无论)where they come from.”
Growing up in a large family, she always understood that it wasn’t easy for her parents to feed the family. “When I told my parents I wanted to go to university, they weren’t very happy at first,” she remembered. “But they accepted the idea when they were told about the advantages of having a university graduate in the family.”
Money was short at home, so Bimla worked after school and saved nearly on everything. She wanted to work in medicine after graduation to make more money.
She also looked around and found a university near her village, which meant she could stay at home and study at the same time. It wasn’t easy travelling to and from university each day, but she found that she could use the time sitting on the train in a better way. She had a good hour in which she could do some real studying. With her studying, travelling and going to work, she found that she had little time to chat with others. However, when she saw her parents working all hours, she knew she got support and couldn’t complain too much.
She didn’t think she could enter the well-known university, so she was excited when she was offered a place. “I never thought it possible,” she said.
Three years later, she remembered her fears of not being accepted. “I’ve made some really great friends and everybody has been so helpful, even the teachers! The idea that you are not good enough because you are different is so wrong—university is not like that.”

Sun Jiarui, a 10-year-old girl from Outang Central Primary School in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, recently becomes famous online for her cooking skills. Sun, who has been learning to cook from her father since she was eight, can now cook more than 50 dishes. The Outang Central Primary School has also gotten Sun and her father to promote the cooking arts to the students.
China’s Ministry of Education has issued the Life Skills Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 edition) (《义务教育劳动课程标准(2022 年版)》). In the coming term in September, primary and secondary school students in China will find a new “practical activities” course(劳动课) in their schedule, with at least one class every week.
The new course has three types of tasks: everyday housework, including cleaning, organizing, cooking, and using and repairing home appliances; productive labor, including traditional handicrafts; and volunteer work.
Primary school students will be asked to understand and master the basics of home cooking, from preparing vegetables to finally being able to complete the whole process of home cooking by themselves.
News that primary and secondary school students will learn cooking from September became one of the top trending topics on Sina Weibo, attracting more than 300 million views.
“This reminds me of my life skills class in primary school. I learned to make dumplings and do simple needlework,” one Weibo user commented. “These will be lifelong skills for these kids, helping them develop into well-rounded grown-ups, not just students who are able to take exams,” said another user.
As part of the “double reduction” policy(双减政策) aiming to reduce homework and time spent on after-school private tutoring, life skills education has become a new highlight of education reform.
A Beijing-based educational expert said that education should pay attention to “the progress of individual students” and a change in priority from “the evaluation of results to the process”. “We should use comprehensive assessment to observe each student’s growth and progress, instead of just focusing on exams,” said the expert.
64.Why does the writer mention the 10-year-old girl Sun Jiarui?
A.Because she becomes famous on the Internet.
B.Because she will teach students cooking skills at school.
C.Because she could cook over 50 dishes when she was 8.
D.Because she has set a good example of learning life skills.
65.The underlined word “master” in Paragraph 4 probably means “________”.
A.teach B.keep C.learn D.offer
66.What can we learn about the Life Skills Curriculum Standards?
A.It will be carried out in the new term next year.
B.It will provide few chances for kids to learn lifelong skills.
C.Less attention will be given to students’ progress instead of exams.
D.Everyday housework, productive labor and volunteer work are encouraged.
(2022·江苏南京·统考二模)Dear ________,
Hello, my sweetheart. I’m dead. Sorry about that. Please don’t cry.
You are about to turn 13 and I’ve thought about writing you this letter of advice. This is the first draft. Look — here are a couple of things I’ve learnt on the way that you might find useful in the coming years. It’s not an exhaustive (详尽的) list, but it’s a good start.
The main thing is just to try to be nice. You already are. Just shine, continuously and firmly, like a warm lamp in the corner, and people will want to move towards you in order to feel happy and to read things more clearly. You will be bright in the changing world, and this will save you from the pressure of worrying about others’ opinions, especially less satisfying things like “being not cool”, “being less successful than everyone else” or “being too fat”.
Second, always remember that, nine times out of ten, you probably aren’t having a totally nervous breakdown — you just need a cup of tea and a biscuit. You’d be amazed by how easily and repeatedly you can deal with the problems you come across. Remember to get a big biscuit tin.
My next tip: life is generally divided into two things. One: ENJOYABLE TIMES. Two: AWFUL EXPERIENCES THAT WILL MAKE FUTURE AMAZING TOO.
However awful, you can get through any experience if you imagine yourself, in the future, telling your friends about it as they scream, with increasing disbelief, “No! I can’t believe that happened to you!”
Baby, see as many sunrises and sunsets as you can. Always run across roads to smell the roses. Always believe you can change the world — even if it’s only a tiny bit. Think of yourself as a silver rocket-use loud music as your fuel; books like maps and co-ordinates for how to get there.
Host extravagantly (放肆地), love constantly, dance in comfortable shoes, talk to Daddy and Nancy about me every day and never, ever start crying.
Love,
________

While the banana is a common fruit we enjoy in our daily lives, have you heard of its relative, the enset banana?
____________This plant is a main food for more than 20 million people in Ethiopia. However, don’t be fooled by the inedible(不可食用的) nature of its orange fruits! Scientists believe that the enset may provide food for over 100 million people in Africa.
This could be a game-changer for solving the famine(饥荒) that becomes worse because of the climate change.
_____________The enset is a plant that belongs to Musaceae(芭蕉科), the same family of flower plants as the banana. The tree can grow up to 10 meters tall. Unlike the banana, the fruits of the enset plant are inedible. This has earned it the nickname of “false banana”, as the plant is used more for its carbohydrate-rich stems(茎) and roots.
_______________ However, the planting of the enset is just in Ethiopia, where the plant is fermented(发酵) to make dishes like porridge and bread. Food made from the enset is especially good for the body with high calcium, potassium, and zinc, as well as amino acids. When Ethiopia experienced its most serious famine in a century during the 1980s, the enset played a major role in helping communities recover from the crisis. Besides being an important part of the Ethiopian diet, the enset is also used in traditional medicine, animal feed, and construction materials in the country.
_______________ Because of climate change, changeable temperatures and extreme weather events are bringing risks to crop harvests. There isn’t enough food in many regions of Africa. Scientists believe that the enset can help solve this problem. The enset is a very hardy plant, able to survive at different temperatures and regions. The enset can be harvested at any stage of its growth throughout the year and can be stored for long periods of time. All of these characteristics make it a good choice for emergency backup food in case of natural disasters and droughts. However, scientists are not sure if it can replace the main crops in other regions.
Although there are belief worries about the growing of the enset in more areas, such as its cultural meaning to the Ethiopian community and the local knowledge needed to properly care for the plant, the enset banana is certainly eye-catching for its unique qualities that have given it the name “the tree against hunger”. It is an example of how food production is changing in our world in the face of climate change.
71.Why is the enset called “false banana”?
A.Because it has orange fruits looked like the banana.
B.Because it belongs to the same family of the banana.
C.Because it is like the banana but its fruit can’t be eaten.
D.Because it can grow up to 10 meters tall just like the banana tree.
72.The writer mentioned “Ethiopia experienced its most serious famine in a century during the 1980s” to show that ________.
A.only Ethiopia plants the enset to make food
B.food made from the enset is good for the body
C.the enset may help solve the food crisis in Africa
D.other parts of Asia should learn to plant the enset
73.“Wild forms of this plant can be found in different parts of Africa.” can be best placed in ________.
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
74.Which is NOT the reason for choosing the enset banana as emergency backup food?
A.People can eat the enset through the whole year.
B.The enset has a lot to offer to our body and can be stored easily.
C.The enset can survive the changeable climates and in different regions.
D.It has special cultural meaning and once saved Ethiopian people in history.
75.What is the proper title for the article?
A.The Tree Against Hunger B.Eating Habits in Ethiopia
C.Plants of Musaceae Family D.How to Plant the Enset Banana

(2022·江苏南京·统考二模)When 19-year-old Mary-Jess Leaverland sang for 70 million TV viewers, nobody back home in England knew anything about it. Her victory in the talent show. I Want to Sing to the Stars was seen by five times as many people as watch a similar UK show, called The X Factor, but they were all from the Chinese region of Jiangsu, as that’s the only place the programme is shown.
Mary-Jess was in China to study the language as part of her university course when she entered the competition. A friend had invited her to watch him in a TV quiz show. On their way, they passed the talent show’s studios. Mary-Jess went in, found a producer and sang for him. During the competition she had classes as usual then went to the studios in the evenings. When she wasn’t on stage, she was busy doing her homework.
Mary-Jess used her £900 prize money to fly home to see her mum. When she returned, there were no recording contracts (合同) to sign or concerts to perform in. She told her mum, who’s also a good singer, how amazed she was that she was chosen as the winner, then the two of them chatted happily about their plans to start singing together again at clubs around their hometown. It was only later that Mary-Jess’s mum thought it might be fun to tell the local newspaper about her daughter’s win. (2022·江苏南京·统考二模)In many countries, schools have long summer holidays, with shorter holidays in between. However, a new report suggests reducing the length of school holidays to stop children forgetting what they have learned during the long summer break. Instead of three school terms, it says, “There should be five eight-week terms. There would be just four weeks off in the summer, with a two-week break between the other terms. The annual (每年的) amount of holiday time would remain the same.”
Sonia Montero has two children at primary school and works full time. She supports the idea. “The kids,” she says, “have much longer holidays than me and I can’t afford to take several weeks off work, so I need someone to take care of them. But nobody wants the work in the summer months—they all have holidays of their own.”
Not surprisingly, some young people disagree. Student Jason Panos, says, “It’s a stupid idea. I really can’t imagine staying at school in the summer—I’d hate it. It’s totally unfair, too. The people who suggest this had long school holidays when they were young. But now they want to stop us enjoying the summer. They only need to look at places like Spain and America, where they have much longer holidays than here. The kids there don’t forget everything they’ve learned in a couple of months, do they?”
Nadia Salib, 14, agrees. “Sure,” she says, “the first week at school after the summer is never easy, but you soon get back into it. The real problem round here is that kids get bored after so many weeks out of school, and then some of them start causing trouble. But the answer is to give them something to do in their free time, not make everyone stay in school longer. We all hate that.”
82.Why does Sonia prefer shorter school holidays?
A.She thinks that middle school holidays are too long.
B.She doesn’t get any summer holidays in her present job.
C.She can’t get anyone to look after her children in summer.
D.She can’t afford to pay someone to look after her children.
83.What does Jason say about long summer holidays?
A.Schools in other countries don’t have them.
B.They can help children forget about school.
C.These days many older people have them too.
D.They have no influence on children’s education.
84.What does Nadia say about young people in summer?
A.They would like to spend more time at school.
B.Long holidays are very bad for their education.
C.Where she lives there is nothing for them to do.
D.They behave badly when they go back to school.
85.Which of the following sentences best explains the article?
A.They’ve changed all the school terms and some students are getting very angry about it
B.Some people want to change the school year but not everyone thinks it’s a good idea.
C.Everyone’s against the idea of shortening the summer holidays so they’ve decided to forget the idea.
D.Teenagers are very worried because there are going to be fewer school holidays in the year.
(2022·江苏南京·统考二模)Ants may be tiny—but they’re serious eaters! Try these experiments(实验) to find out what ants like to eat.
Want to find out what the ants in your neighbourhood like to eat? Place small amounts of different foods on the plate. You can use peanut butter, honey, mashed banana, grated apple or cheese, and seeds.
Put this feeding station where there are lots of ants. Wait three minutes and count the number of ants feeding on each food. Count how many there are every three minutes.
Ants don’t always take the first food they find. Instead, they may investigate, touching many pieces of food with their antennae(触须). What does this bit taste like? Exactly how big is it? Those are the kinds of things the ants are checking out. When they finally choose a food, the ants carry it back to their nest.
Do your ants prefer big seeds or smaller ones? Sweet crumbs or less sweet ones? Here’s a test: Give ants a choice between full-strength honey and a honey-water mixture (add one teaspoon of honey to five teaspoons of water). Offer a few drops of each choice side-by-side at a feeding station. Then every three minutes count the number of ants you see near each place.
Want to see how far ants travel when they go out to collect food? First find an ant nest. You can do that by following some ants when they carry food home. Now you know how far the ants travelled to get to your food station. Next, move the food station about 30 cm farther from the nest. Do the ants find it? If so, move the station again. Keep moving the station until the ants no longer appear.
When ants find a food they like, they work quickly to collect it. Usually they try to get the nestmates to help. To find out how long does it take an ant to tell others that there’s food nearby, offer their favourite food and watch. After the first ant finds the food, begin counting the ants every minute. Also, watch their behaviour. When the first ant goes home, what does it do when it gets near one of its nestmates? Does it feed the other ant a bit of food? Or do the two touch the antennae together? Is the ant with the food pulling its back end on the ground? It may be leaving strong smell that leads to the food.
86.What is the main purpose of this passage?

A.By moving the food station farther away.
B.By changing the food in the food station.

90.What does the writer want readers to learn in this passage?

(2021·江苏南京·统考二模)I’m a procrastinator (拖延者) . In college, I was supposed to spend a year on my 90-page senior thesis. I didn’t write a word until three days before the deadline. Finally, I wrote 90 pages over 72 hours, pulling not one but two all-nighters to finish just before the deadline. Of course, it was a very bad thesis.
I have a hypothesis that the brains of procrastinators and non–procrastinators are actually different. Both brains have a Rational(理性的)Decision-Maker in them who has us do whatever makes sense to be doing right now. But the procrastinator’s brain also has an Instant Gratification (及时行乐)Monkey who doesn’t like that plan and only cares about two things: easy and fun.
For the procrastinator, it is the Monkey that actually takes the wheel. But, how can they start working when really important things happen? It turns out the procrastinator also has a Panic Monster. He is not active most of the time, but he suddenly wakes up anytime a deadline gets too close. He’s the only thing the Instant Gratification Monkey is terrified of.
Seeing the Panic Monster, the Instant Gratification Monkey goes up a tree and hides! The Rational Decision-Maker can then take the wheel and the procrastinator can start working.
This explains how the procrastinator’s system works. But if it works, why bother?
Well, it’s because there are situations in our lives that don’t have deadlines, like seeing your family or exercising. In all of these non deadline situations, the Panic Monster doesn’t show up. So the procrastinator’s system actually doesn’t start work. Therefore, something must be done.
98.According to the writer, what does the brains of non-procrastinators have?
A.Panic Monster.
B.Rational Decision-Maker.
C.Procrastinator’s system.
D.Instant Gratification Monkey.
99.From the passage, we know that Instant Gratification Monkey ________.
A.prevents a procrastinator from working
B.cares about things that need to be done
C.is only scared of Rational Decision Maker
D.takes wheel all the time for a procrastinator
100.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.procrastinators. B.monkeys. C.wheels. D.important things.
101.What will the author talk about in the next part of the passage?
A.Advantages of procrastination.
B.Ways to deal with procrastination.
C.How a procrastinator’s brain works.
D.Trouble that procrastination may bring.
(2021·江苏南京·统考二模)The very fast changes and developments in technology are regular news items. Our children are growing up in a world that is more grounded in technology than ever before.
Children nowadays don’t recognize the technology their parents grew up with. There are videos and articles that show children trying to use outdated technology. It is funny to watch them try to work out what to do with a telephone that doesn’t have a touch screen. Also watch the video about children trying to work out what to do with a cassette tape and a Walkman. The concepts and machines once familiar to parents are now very alien to their kids.
Who can remember when black and white television became colour television?
One parent posted on social media that she was watching a re-run of a show popular in the 1950s with her young son. He asked her what was wrong with the television because the show had been filmed in black and white. He had never seen anything on television in black and white.
Television channels now broadcast 24 hours a day. In the past, television had a start and finish time. After the last program, the test pattern appeared on the screen. It showed that the transmitter was working but that no program was being broadcast. These patterns were also used when there was a problem with the broadcasting. Can you imagine what children would do now if they saw this kind of symbol on the screen in front of them?
To show children the technology that their parents once used, but which children don’t understand is the focus of the travelling exhibit the National History Museum has put together. It features items that are now just a memory for the older generation. Go and see the exhibition now!
