Taking Inspiratin frm NatureAward-winning huse design f Tanmy Naidu is a cmbinatin f elements fund arund us.Hyderabad: Hme is where the heart is，but if yu have t g by these students’ designs，it is als where varius elements f nature are cmbined.We’re talking abut the designs that city by Tanmy Naidu develped alng with his classmates.These designs，Bi-active Haven，als wn them the first prize at the Bimimicry Challenge 2014—Fr Living.
Tanmy，a student f the Siddaganga Institute f Technlgy，tk part in the natinal level cmpetitin alng with his classmates，Nitin and Adarsh.Tanmy says，“Our brief was t design a hme which was envirnmentally-friendly①.S we lked t nature fr inspiratin fr the three levels f the 3,500 sft villa that we had designed.”Fr the undergrund level，the team tk inspiratin frm termites，the grund flr was inspired by caves and the abve-grund flr was inspired by the weaver bird’s nest.
Tanmy explains，“Termite hills have t maintain the temperature and have excellent air tunnels.S we used limestne t build the undergrund level.Fr the level n grund，since caves have always been a natural shelter，we used stne.”He adds，“Fr the abve grund flr，a cantilever，the inspiratin was the weaver bird’s nest，s we used bamb.” T hld the cantilever in place②， instead f using irn r steel，the bys used synthetic spider web.“This is 10 times strnger than irn，s safety is nt an issue，” he says.
