[2022·辽宁省县级重点高中协作体高三模拟]We'd stopped to get coffee at a faraway lights­and­laughter filled cafe somewhere over the bridge. Behind the counter was a young woman with a ready­steady kind of warmth that spilled over into the orders she took.

When she looked up over a chocolate croissant (羊角面包) at us, her smile deepened, “You two are so cute together！” she shouted happily. My husband told her it was our first anniversary.

She wanted to give us something then, “I wish you'd told me earlier, and I wouldn't have charged you! Can I offer you a piece of cake on the house？” We refused the free cake, saying that the interaction was a good gift. She told us, “I wish my elder brother were so thoughtful. I don't know whether he'll give me a gift. It's my birthday on the 25th and I'm really not sure he'll remember it, especially since there's some championship finals on the same day.” There was a simplicity and frankness to her sharing that both touched and surprised us. I think what really moved us was her genuine and selfless delight at seeing two happy­to­be­together people. We picked up our coffee and croissant and sat down at a small table in the back to start our next smile secret plan.

The young woman's name, which we got from another waitress, was Brianna. We were not going to let Brianna's birthday pass by unnoticed.

On her birthday we made the considerable trip back to the cafe with a little gift bag that held a beautifully wrapped forest green box. Inside it was a small stone plaque(牌匾) with this message: Wherever You Go, Go With All Your Heart. We wrote out a small card with it, wishing her a happy birthday and thanking her for the warmth and joyousness she brought to her work. We signed it as Two Travellers, and put a smile card underneath the ribbon around the box.

I feel honored to be here to present my speech on the Olympic Spirit. The Olympic Spirit mainly focuses on mutual understanding, friendship and fair competition.

As for mutual understanding, we and competitors should respect our opponents, including their culture and race. Additionally, friendship comes first. No matter what the result is, the friendship between/among countries is of vital significance, which should be attached importance to. Finally, the judges give their grades based on fair principles, promising no cheating.

As far as I am concerned, the Olympic Spirit can be our guide in our daily life. We should keep the spirit in mind and handle daily affairs accordingly.
